Carnal Immortal-Chapter 402: In Control
Looking away from Shiana, Amon finally brings his attention to the man at the event.
And from the looks of it, Danial isn't a happy camper.
Amon chuckles, seeing the seething anger and the scowl he has on his face as he glares at Amon. If looks could kill, Amon would be dead if he were a mortal like the rest. But Amon's not a mortal and looks can't kill.
Instead of confronting Danial directly, Amon chuckles at his stupidity and walks past him as if he doesn't matter one bit.
Facing the blatant disrespect makes Danial's fury burn even brighter.
Amon doesn't give a shit about Danial; instead, he looks around and takes note of every face in the room. He gives every person in the room a second of his time, making sure that they make eye contact.
Every goon in the room immediately starts feeling a little nervous as they meet Amon's gaze.
There was no intent of intimidation or any other intent behind Amon's eyes; he just looked at them with a smile on his face, but for some reason, every goon in the room felt something was off.
Of course, none of them dared to voice it out, believing that they were the only ones having such a thought and didn't want to be ridiculed by their peers if they did voice out their concern.
Little did they know, each and every one of them felt the same.
Why wouldn't it be unnerving? A man walks into a house filled with killers and gang bangers who all have taken lives for money and other stuff, and then the man goes on to act as if he is just visiting a relative's place, looking at them and smiling as if nothing's wrong.
Only two types of people would do so: either a retard or a monster. And from the looks of it, Amon doesn't look like a retard in any way, shape, or form.
Everyone except Amon, Shiana, and Danial is nervous. Shiana a thousand percent believes in Amon, so she isn't scared one but, but Amon's in control, and Danial, well, he is just ignorant and his anger has made him lose his common sense.
Amon finally turns to look at Danial again and sits down on the couch, occupying the middle seat, one leg over the other, and arms spread apart, encompassing the entire main couch, sitting as if he owns the place.
Danial frowns, seeing now relaxed Amon looks.
'Doesn't this guy know about his current situation?' Danial thinks and looks at the mercenary he hired to get the job done.
But he gets nothing from them; they just stand there, not uttering a word.
'Well, he must know. Why would he be hear if he didn't?' Danial thinks.
"Okay, let's get started then. Tell me, why did you want to meet me?" Amon asks, smiling. He takes charge of the situation by asking the question.
It's as if Amon's the one who brought Danial here and not the other way around.
Danial's frown deepens, hearing Admon's question. 'Why is he acting so arrogantly? Doesn't he see that he is surrounded? Is he an idiot?' Danial asks himself.
Instead of answering Amon's question, he decides to ignore it. He doesn't want to lose control of his superior position by being the one who answers the questions.
Little does he know, he was never in control to begin with.
Instead, Danial turns to look at the mercenaries.
"Your job here is done. Good work," He says to them before looking at one of his goons who is holding a briefcase, and signals him with his head.
The goon nods and approaches the mercenaries and hands over the briefcase to the one who took the lead before.
The mercenary nervously accepts the payment while keeping his eyes on Amon, but seeing Amon do nothing but smile, he feels helpless and decides to go with the flow.
He opens the briefcase and looks at the large stack of money inside it
"I even threw in some extra for you guys to enjoy," Danial says. The lean mercenary nods his head and closes the briefcase, and looks at Amon again, who continues to smile.
"You guys can leave now, your work is done here," Danial says and turns to look at Amon again.
As for the mercenaries, they didn't dare move as Danial's not the one who is in control here. It's Amon. They know it, and they are not stupid enough to ignore him.
"Na, na, you guys stay, I need you here," Amon suddenly speaks up, looking at the mercenaries.
The mercenaries flinch. It's the worst outcome they could have hoped for. Amon asked them to stay. Why? Why couldn't he just let them go? It's not their fault that they were hired to kidnap some really scary guy.
Danial frowns. He turns to look at the mercenaries and sees none of them moving a muscle to leave, even though he told them to.
He looks back at Amon and then back at the mercenaries. "What's going on? You guys are no longer needed, leave!" Danial says, raising his voice.
He hired these men to kidnap Amon because he didn't want to have any connection to Amon's disappearance.
Since Amon lives in a nice neighborhood, there is surveillance everywhere, and that's why he made sure to hire a foreign party to do his dirty work, other than sending his own goons.
Because if he did, the police my connect these goons to the gang in his own city, which is secretly controlled by his father.
His father has been hyper vigilant about not leaving behind a single trace that could connect him to the gang, and Danial knows not to mess around with it either. If he did, his father would literally kill him, even if he were his own son.
So, a foreign entity like this group of deadly mercenaries was the perfect way to get Amon here, and now that their job is done, why are they not leaving?
"What's going on?" Danial asks again, looking at the lead mercenary.
"We will stay," is all the lead mercenary says. He doesn't dare go against anything Amon said. Especially now that they have received their payment. They are no longer inclined to listen to Danial.
Danial feels something's wrong. He looks at Amon and sees him continue to smile as if nothing's wrong. He then turns to look at the mercenaries just standing there, just like Amon told them to.
Even with anger clouding most of his judgement, he still puts two and two together.
"Did you pay them?" He asks, looking at Amon.
Hearing Danials's question, Amon bursts out laughing.
"Hahahaha, why would I pay my own kidnappers? Hahaha, you are funny, hahaha. Boys, did you hear him? He said I paid you guys, hahaha, isn't it funny?" Amon asks the mercenaries, laughing out loud.
Seeing such a reaction from Amon, the mercenaries get even more nervous, and the terror starts creeping in. Not wanting to offend Amon, they decide to go along with Amon.
"You are right, sir, this man is funny, hahaha," the lead mercenary says and joins Amon in laughter. Seeing this, the other mercenaries do the same; they all start laughing out loud.
This creates a very creepy environment.
Danial's goons, who were already creeped out by Amon's gaze before, started realizing that they might not be here for the reason they thought they were here.
They were here to intimidate and hurt Amon so that they could make their boss's son happy, but from the looks of it, they can't do that so easily, especially when a group of mercenaries armed from head to toe and covered in high-grade armor are listening to the man they came here to hurt.
The reality of the situation starts creeping in for Danial as well, and he realizes that he might not be in control as he thought he was.
He slowly turns his head to look at Shiana, who is looking at him with a mocking gaze. Her eyes are telling him. 'See, how obvious it was from the very beginning. I knew this would happen. You didn't listen.
Well, they are not her words, but the way she is looking at him with her smug face and mocking gaze, it couldn't be that different from what she is thinking.
"Okay, stop laughing," Amon says.
The mercenaries immediately stop laughing as if they are robots under Amon's command. If he tells them to do anything, they might do it.
Danial feels a chill run down his spine as he realizes that things are completely out of his control.
His men are not well-equipped to take on a group of well-armed mercenaries, especially inside a house with very little room to move.
He looks at Amon again, who is sitting on the couch, relaxed from the very beginning, completely in control.
He knew what was happening before he even entered the house.
Danial starts sweating, realizing he truly fucked up. His men failed him. They didn't do a good job on Amon.
They didn't figure out his true background, because why would a mercenary group, which has a very strong reputation of being loyal to their contractors, suddenly turn on them if not someone very powerful got involved?
Amon ignores the terrified Danial and looks at one of the mercenaries.
"You, take those binds off my woman," Amon orders one of the mercenaries, who quickly approaches Shiana and cuts the binds off with a sharp knife, and goes back to his spot and stands there, silently.
Shiana smiles now that her hands and feet are loose. She immediately gets up and walks up to Amon and sits down on his lap, giving Danial another mocking gaze.
