Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Money Laundering

The morning comes. Mater yawned and stretched his body. The black cat reached his paws around to find Selina but couldn’t find her.

He fluttered his eyes open and saw Selina was sitting at the table writing and calculating something on her phone. The TV behind her was on and it showed some news channel while being muted.

The black cat rose up and shivered before striding to Selina.

"What are you doing, woman?" The black cat meowed.

"I’m calculating our recent spendings. Rent for the cold storage is coming. The utility bill isn’t cheap either." Selina said.

Mater climbed onto Selina’s lap and rolled on his belly, "Do we really need to be concerned about that? We just robbed a gang for all of their money."

Selina pet Mater’s while her eyes still stayed on the documents.

"Our money isn’t unlimited yet, Mr. Mater. We have to be careful or everything would be gone without us noticing."

The black cat titled his head around, "Well. You have a point. Let us check it together then."

Selina originally had around 7,000 credits before her trip to Ines Sota.

The trip to Ines Sota cost around 500 credits. This included the motel cost, eating, and the gasoline. But Sheriff’s Carter reward already covered that.

Then she gained 50,000 credits from the Bounty, which increased her total wealth to 57,000 credits.

She then rented a forge studio on Mater’s behalf, which cost her 3,000 credits, reducing her wealth to 53,000 credits.

Then they killed Levy and robbed that rich kid of his savings. Adding on 2,350,000 credits, increasing Selina’s wealth to 2,403,000 credits.

They refurbished the cold storage house. They got a bed, a table and some chairs, a couch, a mini fridge, and a TV. They also added a hot water machine in the bathroom and useful utilities. Everything cost around 12,000 credits.

This made Selina’s total wealth at 2,391,000 credits.

They also spent some creds here and there for food and miscellaneous stuff but those things didn’t impact much into the large 2 million number.

Selina and Mater then spent a while counting the mobile credits they took from the Haland Boys. It was another 1,200,000 million untraceable credits.

This made their total wealth to 3,591,000 credits.

"Holy shit. I’ve never even seen this much money in my life." Selina said.

"We need to clean this money, Selina. And make it yours." The black cat stroked its whiskers slowly.

"What do you mean ’clean it’?" Selina said.

"Well. Out of our 3,5 million credits. Only around 30 to 40 thousand of them can be traced. It’s your bounty reward. Now if you suddenly have a big amount of money. What would the government think?"

"They will question it." Selina sighed.

"Exactly. And from what I’ve learned by lurking around in Zakharov’s Database, the ACPD Database, and the overall public information, the government has a tight rope around credits. These mobile credits are useful. They’re untraceable. But you can’t really use it to buy something officially."

Selina nodded repeatedly. "That is a problem.

The utility bill for the cold storage is around 1,000 credits. Along with its rent, it will be 3,500 credits.

We just rented the forge studio so we don’t need to pay. But next month it will be another 5,000 credits."

"And then your university program as well. Who knows what they require you to buy? May even cost a few thousands more. Those credits are also useful to buy properties. We can consider buying the cold storage and the forge entirely as well."

"So what do we need to do to ’clean’ this money?"

"That’s a job that our new servant can help with." Mater grinned widely, revealing his sharp white teeth.

Selina and Mater got out of the cold storage and went on the motorcycle. Aurora, Crow, and Bash would need a few days to finish their leveling so Mater left them at the Shrines.

Through his telepathic link, Mater informed Leslie to meet them up at a secluded destination. It was an empty neighborhood near Leslie’s new hideout.

They arrived at a small park where everyone can come and go. Selina parked the motorcycle outside the park and walked inside with Mater.

Leslie was already sitting on a bench waiting for them.

"Master!" Leslie bowed deeply but didn’t sit up. He didn’t want to attract too much attention.

Mater nodded. He jumped up on the bench and sat between Leslie and Selina.

"How is your new hideout?" Mater said.

"Very safe and secure, Master. I know a few people that sell hideouts like that around the city." Leslie whispered.

"Have you contacted your friend about the lab yet?"

"A few, Master. I still need to make a few phone calls but it shouldn’t be too hard. The difficult thing is the cash."

"How much do you need?"

"The equipment and set-up can vary. According to my calculations, I can make a pretty fine lab with 500,000 credits."

"Half a million, huh? I can arrange that. I will give you 500,000 credits. I also need to clean around 2 million mobile credits as well. Can you arrange this?"

Leslie’s brow furrowed. He bent forward and rested his chin on his hands. The man was thinking aggressively.

"I won’t be able to do that. But I knew someone who can. He’s a lawyer. A CRIMINAL lawyer. He can definitely clean this money. But it would cost a commission fee." Leslie said.

"How much?"

"He usually takes ten percent. But I bet if we can ’convince’. We can lower it down to maybe 5 or 6 percent."

Mater stroked his whiskers. 500,000 for Leslie. 2,000,000 into legal credits. 1,000,000 would be kept as untraceable mobile credits in case Mater needed to do a beneath-the-table transaction like Leslie’s lab.

10% of 2,000,000 would be 200,000. That was too much. Even 5% was too much, that would be a 100,000 credits commission fee.

"Arrange a meeting for me, Leslie. We want to have a conversation with this lawyer." The black cat meowed.

"Certainly, Master!"
