CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 140: Trust in Me
Mater followed Leslie to his hideout. Inside, in front of Leslie’s admiration, the black cat spat out 500,000 mobile credits.
"Master is a God!" Leslie fell down on the floor and collected the mobile units like a starving man seeing his first piece of meat in a long time.
"Use these well." The black cat meowed.
"Certainly, Master. I will construct a lab within two weeks for you."
"And the lawyer?"
Leslie stood up and quickly picked up his phone. "You can meet him right now, Master. No one makes my Master wait!"
Mater then walked out of the hideout and found his way back to Selina. To avoid making her suspicious, only Mater went with Leslie.
"How did it go?" Selina said.
The black cat jumped on her lap, "Everything’s done. I have the address here. Let’s go."
The pair left the park and went on their motorcycle again. They stopped at an office with a big billboard on top.
"Trust in me. - Justin Mei." Selina lifted her head up and read the billboard.
A bead of sweat rolled on her face. "Is this guy really legit?"
The black cat snickered loudly, "I don’t know. But I like this guy already."
They entered the building where an old woman was at the front desk.
"No visiting today. Mr. Mei already has an appointment." The old lady said.
"I am the appointment. Tell him Selina Isles is here." Selina said.
The old woman looked up then picked up a phone. While she’s busy calling, Selina turned her head to a small TV strapped on the wall.
It was running an advertisement for the firm.
The advertisement used ridiculous bad green screen effects and costumes that everyone could know from a mile away. But for some reason, it was very captivating.
The advertisement began with a man wearing a nice tailored suit as looked directly at the camera and pointed at the viewer.
"Hi, I’m Justin Mei. The best lawyer that you will ever meet in your life. Were you falsely convicted because of police corruption?"
The scene changed to a horrible fake set of the interior of a car where a man was being arrested by a hot policewoman with extremely revealing clothing.
"Oh no! I didn’t do anything but they arrested me!" The man covered his mouth exaggeratedly.
Justin appeared on the scene again. "No worries. Trust in me!"
"Were you discriminated against publicly by your workplace?"
The scene then changed to a horrible fake set of an office where everyone was throwing stuff at a very sad looking man that was clearly acting.
Justin appeared on the scene again. "No worries. Trust in me!"
The advertisement switched over to many other scenarios. Every single one was a horrible set with even worse actors doing the parts.
At the end of the advertisement, Justin was seen in his office again, looking much more stern.
"You have rights. The Constitution says you have rights. I say you have rights. And until proven guilty, everyone is innocent. If you think you have a case, pick up your phone now and call Justin Mei.
I can guarantee that you can Trust In Me!"
Then a low voiceover overlayed at the end with a number popped up, "Call Justin Mei now at 555-1111-TOTALLY-LEGAL."
Selina blinked her eyes repeatedly. She had never seen a more idiotic advertisement in her life.
"I am really not sure about this, Mr. Mater."
The black cat held his belly and rolled on the floor laughing, "This man is a genius! Hahahaha!"
The old woman at the front desk looked up, "You can come in now."
Selina and the black cat entered the office.
Justin was sitting on his chair with his back turning against them. When they entered, he spun the chair around and looked at them.
The man leaned back comfortably and held a ball in his hand. He had a small earphone on his left ear.
"Welcome, Miss Isles. Leslie just told me about you."
Justin stood up with a wide fake ass smile.
Selina nodded respectfully. Mater jumped up on the table which caused Justin to jerk back a little.
"Your cat?" Justin said.
"You’re afraid of cats?"
"Not really. I just know they are a cruel little species."
Mater cleaned himself on the table, licking his paws.
Selina sat down at the opposite of Justin. "So. You must know why I’m here."
"Indeed. You need some credits you need to... Cough! ’Process’. Right?"
"Yes. I need to launder it."
"Shh. Shh! Shh!" Justin stood up and made a gesture while looking around.
He came to a shelf and turned on a small radio. "They could be listening at every moment. The radio wave interrupted it."
"Right..." Selina forced a smile. She thought the man was crazy.
But Mater thought differently. ’Oh? That thing emits some kind of waves that mess with NES.’
"So how much do you need to process?" Justin sat back down and asked.
"Two million credits."
Justin nodded back and forth. "Two million, huh... Not too much but it is enough to be a small fortune. I’ll take the usual commission fee, 10%."
"It’s not happening, Justin Mei." The black cat’s deep voice echoed.
Justin stood up again and stuck his back on the wall. "You?! You?! You!"
He pointed at the cat frantically.
"Now. Don’t be so coy, Justin. You signed the SCOA already." The black cat grinned.
Mater had access to the ACPD’S database. It was not hard for him to check before coming here.
Justin gulped. He adjusted his tie before sitting back down.
"So you’re a familiar of her? Selina Isles is a Psychic?" Justin whispered.
"You can say so. Here’s the deal, Justin. We can give you 10,000 credits for this ’process’." The black cat said.
"Pfftt! I made even more in an afternoon." Justin said.
"Maybe. But those credits have complications. Don’t they? Let me be blunt, Justin. You do this for us for 10,000 credits. And we will protect you."
"Please stop scamming me. I’m not interested."
"Do you know the name of Miss Isles’s mother, Justin Mei?" The black cat squinted his eyes.
Justin’s brow furrowed.
Mater continued, "Her mother is Iris Sordenfield. A Phantom of the government. A neutralizer that can carry out a death sentence as she pleases."
Justin widened his eyes. His lips trembled a little bit.
"Now. Miss Sordenfield has prepared an inheritance for Miss Isles. The inheritance is a small amount of 2 million mobile credits. I need you to make this true and legal.
In return. You will have a connection with a current Phantom and a future one."
Selina pointed at her face in confusion, "Me?"
