Celestial Speed: Legacy-Chapter 44: Jinx
"Hmm, them huh," Henry muttered under his breath, he knew about the Kraken guild, after the pegasus guild they were next most important and powerful.
Henry then glanced around the area, finally getting a good view of his surroundings. He was on a small field that was still inside the premises of the building he and the sonic had ’Battled’. And checking closely, he could see the logo of a creature with many long, boneless limbs, spread across the area on banners. It was truly the base of the kraken guild and he truly was trespassing.
Henry sighed "Why did you have to pick that building?" he glanced at the beast, who seemed to be recovering already. He didn’t have much time.
"Well this is their territory, they must have very advanced sensors to have noticed me and the sonic, i better just get out of this peacefully. Picking a fight here would be foolish," Henry thought as he activated his eye of horus and inspected the man’s information along with some other few.
His eyes widened as he checked their stats one by one. Every single one of them there were B rank, except for the man with white hair, who was ranked A. Their physical stats were higher than his, but his speed was still unmatched.
"How are they even this strong... No why the fuck would they send powerful people to face a kid and a C-Rank beast!" he yelled in his head, forgetting that the sonic wasn’t just any beast
"Are you listening?" the man voiced out, snapping Henry out of his thoughts
"Uhm, yeah... sure. Sorry for the inconvenience, I’ll be taking my leave now," he replied and quickly walked towards the sonic.
"Alright, i think i can manage to lift you, and run us out of here." he thought. "You should thank me sonic, you get to live a little longer," Henry muttered and crouched down, about to carry the beast. He could quickly finish it off here and run away, but his instincts were telling him to get out of there first.
Henry was about to lift the beast when he was suddenly hit... no lifted by strange force which also sent him flying. He crashed into the edge wall of the building and a small cracking sound was heard, but there was no dent on the building at all.
Henry stood up and immediately felt a sharp pain in his lower spine, it was definitely broken and the system confirmed it
[-20 Hp]
"What! What is this building even made of... No it was the force at which I was thrown," he muttered to himself, staring at the culprit who attacked him.
It was the man with white hair, his hands were stretched out so that washed pretty obvious. Plus he had telekinetic abilities, and Henry had seen this earlier.
"Sorry, but that beast belongs to us now, it’s in our premises so it’s ours to kill," he stated sharply
Henry frowned, this was the one thing that he hated so much; Reaping off the sweat of other people. He had worked hard for this, ran across the city almost twice and it was his attack that stunned the beast but now someone just appears out of nowhere and claims it as his own.
This was why he hated the government, from his past life even to now, he hated the fact that someone somewhere was calling the shots, sitting lazily in their stupid villas, ruling people’s lives and taking everything from them. He hated governance and oligarchy and even with all the horrible things he had done in his past life, he never accepted to rob or steal, because that was still considered profiting over another person’s sweat.
"Besides you entered into our base unwelcomed, but we would let you leave in peace, go now and live," the man added with a cold voice
Henry gritted his teeth, now he was really angry, this was the second thing he hated; Mercy granted from someone proud. He would rather die than kiss the feet of someone who thinks they rule the world because they are slightly better than others. He deemed it as wasted power and wasted luck.
But in this situation, he was truly helpless. This people were stronger than him and he had gotten a little taste of that strength.
"How is he this strong?" Henry pondered as his back began to heal at a very fast rate
"The ones i fought in the museum were much weaker, but... Wait! Xavier did mention something like they were dark dawn and weren’t supposed to possess abilities," he stated mentally
"Which means they don’t have mana cells, but that also means... I’ve been a fool. Mana cell humans are much stronger than i thought!" Henry gasped at the realization, ever since the day he had killed the dark dawn agents with ease, he had developed this sudden courage.
"Haha, to even think I wanted to fight Alicia, or actually reach Xavier. Both their stats are even more powerful than everyone here," he thought and stood upright as his back had fully healed.
"I understand, I’m sorry for the intrusion. I shall take my leave now," Henry bowed slightly and began walking towards the group.
The man raised his eyebrow slightly, he hadn’t expected this person to just accept defeat, but who cares he already did.
Henry kept walking towards them, he had now reached the spot where the beast laid and was about to pass by it. He carried a calm and innocent expression but he was panicking inwards.
"Think! Henry think!" he yelled to himself. "I can’t let them have the final kill, the crystal, the sweet exp. No way!" he muttered, there was no chance he would just give up, not after all his hard work.
He sighed and paused in his tracks "Well, at this point there’s only one plan," he dropped his head and faced the ground. The man became cautious and readied another attack.
"Be reckless!" Henry voiced out and raised his head towards the man, he had a wide smirk drawn on his face.
The man eyes widened as Henry brought out a small spherical object out of nowhere and threw it towards the group.
"It’s a trap, get h... " the man tried to warn, he even brought out a small pistol and fired it at the ball of death heading towards them, but he missed and it was too late for corrections. The object had gotten to where he and his group where and before they could make a single move, it exploded.
BOOOOM!
The explosion ringed out in the entire vicinity causing a small amount of damage to those that got engulfed in it, but there was no fatality.
The man raised his hands from his face, he had covered his head with his hands at the last second which caused his armor to get stained with soot. But that was all, there was no scratch on his body neither was his long white hair tainted.
"That brat!" he clenched his fist.
He quickly cleared the smoke blocking his view and glanced towards the spot where Henry was standing before the attack, but there was nothing there. Both Henry and the beast were gone.
Just few seconds before the explosion had occurred, Henry was thinking of various ways to escape his predicament, and within a few seconds he had though about 10 different ways to get out alive. And after much thought, he concluded on using the best strategy ever, one he had learnt from his favorite animated character.
"Well finally I can make use of this thing, i thought i might never get to actually use it," Henry said as his mind went to a certain explosive device he found in the storage ring. A flash grenade
It was a high damage weapon as well but it would only be effective when facing a large crowd as it won’t cause much damage, just distract and buy the user some time, and that was what Henry needed at the moment.
"Since I couldn’t use you against the large worm, i hope you help me out here," he muttered and paused, facing the ground and acting like the character he adored.
Then raised his head with a smile, just like the character would, he summoned the grenade and immediately threw it at the man and his little power rangers team.
Henry didn’t wait to see the effects of the attack, he quickly grabbed the beast, activated dash and bolted out of the guild’s base. He ran and kept running, making sure to get as far away as possible from the building so they won’t find him if they tried to follow.
Now he was standing in the middle of a desert, just at the outskirts of the city, his hands were on his waist and he absorbed the feeling of yet another victory.
He sighed in satisfaction "And that is how to escape your enemies with a bit of flare. Basic Pain in the ass 101,"
"Even now I’m still learning from you little blue. It’s so sad i had to die before the second season came out, i was really looking forward to it. I bet they never even made it yet," Henry sighed again, but this time in sadness. If only he knew...
Then he heard a soft growl from behind him, and quickly turning back and taking out his sword, he prepared to engage the beast again, he had no doubt that it was now awake and fully healed.
But Henry was shocked by what he saw. The sonic was indeed awake but it was not healed.
Henry’s eyes widened. "But how?" he muttered as he walked over to the beast who was still laying on the ground, breathing slowly. It had a fist-sized hole in it’s chest and wasn’t healing.
"No no no!" Henry exclaimed, he wasn’t concerned about the beast’s life, he only cared about who kills it, and clearly he wasn’t the one who created that hole.
"This can’t be happening! How did... That man!" he came to a realization
"When he fired at the grenade but missed... turns out he didn’t miss at all, he was never planning on hitting the grenade in the first place," Henry clenched his fist
"The attack was meant for you," he said and placed his hands on the beast’s head, he would still gain the beast crystal but not the exp.
Henry sighed and waited for the beast to die, he knew there was no way the beast would survive a second more, it had taken a shot to the heart. So there was no point in making any effort in taking the final kill.
Henry waited, but after a whole minute, he could still hear the beast breathing. He raised his eyebrow and looked into it’s eyes, he could see nothing but determination and strength, one he would only see in a...
"Mother!" Henry exclaimed, remembering the face of his mother just before she gave up the ghost. He wasn’t there personally but he has experienced the memories.
"Does it have children on this planet? Or is she trying to get back to her children?" he thought, all thoughts of killing the beast had vanished. It was replaced with pity and admiration, he loved how the beasts struggled to live just so she could see her cubs again.
"Or maybe... just maybe," Henry muttered as his gaze shifted downwards towards the sonic’s stomach which looked normal.
But he didn’t take his eyes off her belly, he activated his energy reading skill and then it happened.
"Ha! Just as I suspected, she’s not a mother," he exclaimed as his eyes were fixed, not on her stomach but rather inside it. There was another sign of life in her womb.
"She is just about to become one."
