Chapter 43: Wind Walk

As Henry plummeted toward the ground, he felt a mix of frustration, exhaustion, and resignation. His stamina had finally given out, and he was paying the price.

Just as he was about to hit the ground, Henry’s body suddenly jolted again, and he felt a strange sensation wash over him. The system prompt appeared once more

[Nitro Suit emergency stamina refill]

[Stamina: 80]

Henry’s eyes widened in shock. "What! I didn’t know that the suit had this kind of skill, it was probably hidden," he muttered, his time perception taking effect once again. But this time, it had an unexpected effect on him, as his body paused in mid-air, still falling incredibly slowly.

""But it does make sense i guess, the suit description had stated that the suit boosted stamina, it wasn’t limited to just 20 Stamina gain," he pondered for a while before noticing that he was still suspended in air.

Now he was even more shocked, his own skill had an unexpected effect on him. "How? This has new happened before," he muttered

"Of course, that’s why this skill is a passive skill, it reacts to my brain activity, that’s why sometimes I get to actually activate it and sometimes... i can’t," he stated, trying to figure out how the skill actually worked, all of these thinking happening just under a few microseconds due to his accelerated thinking, but he didn’t even know the extent of his own power yet.

"This suit is definitely the coolest, it saved my life. But i wonder, if I actually fell, would the health regeneration work?" Henry muttered with comfort, as he placed his hands on his chin, everything including himself moving slowly almost as if paused, and he just remained on air doing whatever he liked. This was the power of a speedster.

"Hmm I wonder if this effect caught the beast as well, if it went out of range, then it’s probably gone," he sighed with a defeated expression. Then his eyes glanced to his boots, which were both shining brightly in the sun.

His face brightened. "Of course! Talaria, haha! I’ve been so stupid, this boot has a bunch of other skills as well, and I think one should be able to help in this situation," Henry muttered as he clenched his fist, and immediately everything returned back to their normal speed including him. He had willed the perception skill to become dormant, and was now falling once again with the same incoming momentum.

But before he could hit the ground, he muttered something

"Activate wind walk," Henry said softly and just immediately his falling body stopped, just like with the perception skill but this time he was falling at all, his body was just still but he could still move around and time seemed to be normal.

His gaze shifted down towards the golden winged boots, which now literally had wings. Originally the boot was just a typical sleek footwear that almost reached the knees, it was made of high tech alloy which made it look heavy but was actually very light. But now it had developed feathery golden wings which sprout out from it’s sides. They seemed to be alive as they flapped rapidly with unrivaled speed.

Henry was stunned with the boot’s new look but was more shocked by the phenomenon it caused. As stated earlier he was suspended in air, but now it was more like he was standing on it, the feeling he got was prior to standing on solid ground. But to prove that he was still sane, Henry took a step away from his original spot, and to his suprise, it gave the same effect. The atmosphere had become solid for him to do as he pleased; walk, run or even leap.

"Hahaha, can this get any better!" Henry exclaimed with excitement before taking a leap of faith through the sky. His body pushed forward, propelled by the boot’s heightened boost and he arrived... well landed on air again, few meters above his original position and just close to the top of the building.

Henry grinned. "I’ve not given up just yet, sonic." His perception skill reactivated, slowing his surroundings. He still moved normally, with plenty of stamina left and boosts from his equipment.

As Henry stood suspended in mid-air, he gazed out at the cityscape before him. The buildings and streets seemed to stretch on forever, a frozen tableau of urban life. With his perception skill active, Henry felt like he had all the time in the world to think and plan his next move.

He took a deep breath, focusing his mind on the task at hand. He needed to catch the sonic, and he needed to do it fast. Henry’s eyes narrowed as he scanned the rooftops, searching for any sign of his quarry.

And then, he saw it; a flash of blue light darting across the rooftop of a nearby building. Henry’s eyes locked onto the figure, his mind racing with excitement.

With a fierce grin, Henry launched himself into action. He sprinted through the air, his boots propelling him forward with incredible force. The city streets blurred around him as he gained speed, his perception skill allowing him to navigate the complex landscape with ease. He felt like he was flying, the feeling was just so euphoric.

As he closed in on the sonic, Henry could feel his heart pounding with excitement. He was rapidly gaining in on the beast, and he knew that he had the skills and the speed to catch it.

And within seconds he caught up to the beast, intercepting it on the other side of it’s lane. The beast saw Henry and was suprised once again, but it grew a frown and growled, it just wanted to be left alone, but Henry wasn’t going to do that, he was having too much fun.

Henry closed in on it, both of them now charging towards each other with incredible speed, a speed that no one in the vicinity could even witness, it was all happening too fast.

Henry took out his sword and prepared for an attack, but the beast noticed this and before they could make contact, the beast diverted to the left evading whatever attack Henry had in mind. On the left side in which the sonic turned to, there was a tall building rooted there, but the beast climbed it with ease and began to run across it’s side.

Henry didn’t hesitate and put away the sword, immediately giving chase as the sonic tore across the rooftop. The two speedsters hurtled forward, their feet pounding the rooftop in a blur of motion.

Henry’s perception skill allowed him to keep pace with the sonic, his eyes locked onto it as they weaved and dodged through the rooftop obstacles. The sonic was fast, but Henry was determined to catch it.

As they ran, the rooftop scenery blurred around them, a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes that seemed to stretch on forever. Henry’s breathing was steady and controlled, his body fueled by the Nitro suit’s enhanced stamina.

The sonic suddenly darted to the right, leaping over a ventilation shaft with ease. Henry followed suit, his boots propelling him over the obstacle with a burst of speed.

As they landed, Henry spotted an opportunity to gain ground. He surged forward, his speed increasing as he closed in on the beast.

But just as he was about to overtake them, the sonic suddenly dropped down, using it’s insane agility to avoid a low-hanging pipe. Henry was caught off guard, his momentum carrying him forward as he struggled to adjust his trajectory.

The sonic took advantage of the momentary lapse, surging forward with a burst of speed. Henry’s eyes widened as he realized he was falling behind.

"No way!" Henry exclaimed, his determination renewed. "I’m not going to let you get away, this time you’re mine!"

With a fierce cry, Henry launched himself forward, his speed increasing as he gave chase once more. The rooftop scenery blurred around him, a colorful smear that seemed to stretch on forever.

Henry’s heart pounded with anticipation, his senses heightened as he focused on the chase. It was all just thrilling for him, and he knew that any moment now it would give up, afterall it had to be using it’s stamina to run, unlike him.

But just as he was about to make the catch, Henry’s eyes widened in surprise. The sonic had suddenly vanished into thin air, leaving Henry to skid to a stop on the rooftop.

Henry’s eyes scanned the rooftop, his perception skill on high alert as he searched for any sign of the sonic. But there was nothing.

"Where did you go?" Henry exclaimed, his voice echoing across the rooftop. The time perception effect ending.

And then of a sudden, the beast appeared out of nowhere and launched forward at Henry from behind, trying to hit him, the same way when it first came out of the portal.

But Henry’s senses were quick to perceive the attack from behind him, and with the help of the advanced reaction time, he was able to turn and see the attack. He immediately swerved to the side with all his effort and evaded the beast’s incoming body.

But Henry wasn’t finished yet, he smiled mischievously as the beast’s body lunged forward abruptly, but it quickly gained control and skid on the ground, turning to face Henry again. And that’s when Henry executed a deadly attack of his own.

The beast growled and tried to charge forward again but before it could take a single step or even think, it felt it’s body get hit by a powerful, invisible force, which sent it flying off the rooftop. It had a look of grimace as it fell off the building, dropping from a height of about 400 ft, and hitting the ground with an incredibly force causing a large crack on the floor with it’s body’s impact.

Henry quickly jumped down from the building’s rooftop, first landing on air before taking another leap to the ground right in front of the sonic, who was still lying on the ground, barely conscious but alive with a few wounds on it’s body. But the wounds began to close up due to it’s fast healing abilities.

Earlier when the beast suddenly vanished from Henry’s sight, he immediately formulated a plan in his head, one that required one the skills of the Nitro suit. And just as he evaded the body of the beast, Henry activated the energy burst of the Nitro suit, as the speed energy charge had reached one hundred percent minutes ago.

Henry stood over the beast and took out his sword, ready to finish it off before it fully healed or regained consciousness.

"Well sonic, it was a blast racing with you. I had so much fun today, but now it’s time for you to serve your true purpose; giving me your crystal," he muttered and raised his sword over the beast’s head, he was getting excited about the beast crystal and sweet exp he would gain by killing the beast.

"Hold it right there!"

A sharp voice suddenly stated from behind Henry before he could bring his sword down on the beast’s skull. Henry frowned and turned to look at the culprit who dared to disturb him.

He was met with a tall man with long white hair, wearing a complete body armor that covered every part of his body, except his head.

There were other people standing behind him, about twenty in number, all of them heavily armed in tech suits various weapons.

"Why do people always go around looking for what would kill them," he muttered to himself, already calculating how he could take all of them and come out alive.

"We’re from the kraken guild, one of the most powerful guilds under the phoenix faction, and you are trespassing in our grounds." the man with white hair stated.
