Celestial Speed: Legacy-Chapter 46: Little Sonic
"Alright sonic, this might hurt a bit, I’m not a certified doctor... Hell, i don’t even know the first thing about a C-section but... i know how to cut," Henry said to the beast, who just kept staring at him.
"Okay let’s do this," he muttered and activated his thermal imaging, getting a heat signature view of the womb and the cub.
Henry took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves. He had never performed a C-section before, but how hard could it be, right?
He carefully made an incision in the beast’s stomach, trying to follow the contours of her muscles. The beast let out a weak growl, but Henry could tell she was too exhausted to struggle.
As he cut through the tissue, Henry’s hands moved with a precision he didn’t know he possessed. He was fully focused on the task at hand, his mind racing with thoughts of the cub’s safety.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Henry saw a small, furry creature nestled in the beast’s womb. It was covered in a thin layer of fur, and its eyes were closed as if it were sleeping.
Henry’s heart swelled with excitement as he carefully lifted the cub out of its mother’s womb. It was smaller than he had expected, but it seemed to be breathing normally. It had a soft white fur, coupled with the black spots and sapphire eyes just like it’s mother.
The beast’s eyes flickered open, and she gazed weakly at Henry. For a moment, their eyes locked, and Henry felt a strange sense of connection to the creature.
He placed the cub gently beside her and nodded, she stared at him warily for a while trying to see if he would try to attack her child. Even though she couldn’t do anything in her condition, the beast still had the natural overprotective mother’s instinct.
Then she shifted her gaze towards her child and licked it’s small, fragile body before rubbing her paws gently on the cub. The little cub opened it eyes and made a small purring sound, recognizing it’s mother.
The sonic rubbed her paws on the cub a few more times before directing her gaze towards Henry, she stared at him with gratitude. Henry knew she was a beast but he clearly got the message, he could tell that she was grateful.
But that wasn’t all the beast did, she pushed the cub gently in Henry’s direction and made a slight growl. Henry was surprised by this, it was obvious what the beast meant, she wanted Henry to have the cub.
"Guess she knows the inevitable already, she’s going to die," he sighed. "But don’t worry, I’ll take care of your cub." he muttered and picked up the tiny cheetah.
"And maybe, just maybe I won’t kill it earlier. Either way it would still die, that’s the only purpose of beasts in this world," Henry muttered to himself
The beast looked Henry with gratitude and stared at her cub one last time before slowly laying her head on the ground and shutting her eye, ready for the long nap. And after a while, it stopped breathing.
Henry sighed "I’m truly sorry you couldn’t raise your cub," he muttered and placed the baby cheetah on the ground. He was about to walk over to the beast and take what was necessary before her body disintegrated, but the system screen popped up suddenly

Henry was surprised, he stared at the notification with disbelief. "How? Wasn’t it the attack to the chest that killed her?" he thought and shifted his gaze to the dead beast. Then noticing the cuts on her stomach Henry understood.
"The cuts could be considered as an attack as well, which means i was the one who dealt the final blow in the end!" he exclaimed
"Haha! Take that you stupid fucks!" Henry voiced out, directing the insult at the man with white hair and his stupid group.
"The exp was pretty decent, and I even got a speed boost with extra exp and agility, this is too generous. System you are the best thing that ever happened to me," he stated with excitement and picked up the cheetah cub. But as soon as he did, the system appeared with another message.

"This isn’t a reward, it feels more like a stupid orgy. Well too bad i don’t need a pet right now, and I never will," he muttered
"So much for a generous system, beast Companionship. What a joke," Henry added and was about leaving the desert when the system screen popped up again with another information.
"Now what? This better be... " he paused as he read the first contents of the message

Henry’s eyes widened in shock. His gaze shifted to his hands and there it was, the little cub, sleeping peacefully in his arms. He had accidentally called out the skill while holding unto the beast.
"What! No, it was a mistake! Cancel the process, damn it!" he voiced out, but it was too late.

The system kept showing different messages, then suddenly a bright light enveloped the cub. And after a few seconds of blinding lights, everything returned to normal and the bright light dimmed and slowly vanished.
Henry opened his eyes and stared at the cub, but it didn’t look like anything had changed. But then, the system appeared with a notification.

"I take back every good thing I said about this system." Henry gritted his teeth, his soul had now been merged with a beast and he didn’t even know what that meant. This was not something to be excited about.
"Hey system! What do you mean by merged souls?" he voiced out with annoyance and to his suprise the system actually responded.
[Host and his new beast companion now share a special bond, and as Host becomes stronger so will the companion. You will feel the emotional needs of the beast and it will feel yours as well...]
Henry read the contents of the message all the way to the end but after going through it, he gritted his teeth and lashed out
"I don’t care about feelings or whatever... Well actually I do care about the getting stronger part, i can’t believe i would work so hard to level up and this little rascal would get stronger as well!" he exclaimed
"But what i truly want to know is... What the hell happens if one of us dies!" Henry asked the system, of course he knew what soul bonding was from his fantasy rpgs. But it usually involved some kind of ’If I die, you die’ Nonsense.

"Great, I’ve just become it’s mother," he sighed and viewed the beast’s profile.

"Damn system, you didn’t have to be so detailed!" Henry retorted. "Hmm, this little cub is already an E-Ranked beast and it’s speed rate is already impressive." he muttered and gazed at the cheetah cub, who was sleeping peacefully in his arms.
"Perhaps i could actually... Take care of it?" Henry placed his other hand on his chin.
"Pffft! No way in hell," he muttered with a chuckle. "I better get going anyways."
Henry shrugged and began walking, he wanted to take in the view of the desert before running home. But he suddenly paused in his tracks as he noticed something still laying behind him, fresh and not disintegrated.
"Huh? Why is the body still here?" he thought and walked towards the Sonic’s corpse, it remained there on the ground.
"I thought a Galactic beast corpses disintegrate few minutes after death?" Henry pondered with a confused look
But he was right, Galactic beast’s bodies disintegrate immediately after their death leaving not even a single cell of their being. It was why anytime a galactic beast was killed, it is advised to remove the crystal immediately.
Triad had made efforts to create advanced storage devices to preserve the beast bodies so they could study, but the longest time ever recorded for a beast corpse disintegration even those devices was 30 minutes.
Henry placed on knee on the ground and rubbed his hands across the beast’s body. "It’s still solid and fresh, and it doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of degradation anytime soon." he muttered
Suddenly he felt a wave of emotions enter him, he didn’t know how or where it had come from but he recognized the feeling. It was sadness and it was coming from the cub in his arms.
Henry shifted his gaze to it and immediately felt the need to comfort the little cheetah. He contemplated for a while and began to rub his hands on it’s body while consoling it.
"It’s going to be okay little sonic, I’ve got you. She was a very strong creature, and I hope you become strong like her someday," he whispered to the cub, who was still napping. But it made a purring sound as if recognizing Henry and responding him.
Henry sat on the ground and waited and few more minutes while he stroke his hands across the cub’s back lost in the thoughts of what to do with it.
"Alright so this is officially strange," Henry said as he stood up to his feet, staring at the sonic’s corpse, laying on the ground with still no sign of decaying.
"It’s been over 30 minutes since she died so why hasn’t her body disappeared?" he pondered but quickly shrugged it off as a brilliant idea pooped in his head.
"I think this might be for the best. Hehe, this means that her corpse might just become the most valuable thing in the world! A Galactic beast that didn’t disintegrate," Henry chuckled with excitement as a mischievous grin appeared on his face.
"But first, i need to know more about the Sapphire Sonic beasts," he muttered and put the corpse in his inventory.
Then he looked at the cub and sighed. "Sorry little cheetah, but your mum’s corpse might just be a special phenomenon... and a ticket to unlimited credits," Henry said with a smug smile, he began walking again as the orange light of the dawning sun shone on him. Then another brilliant idea appeared in his cunning mind.
"Hmm, she should be of help and would probably even be excited to have you," Henry muttered as a certain redhead crossed his mind.
"But I wonder if she likes pets... Nahh, she definitely does," he chuckled before dashing away into the distance, heading back to the hotel.
