Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Apology

A flicker of surprise crossed Julian Donovan’s face before it returned to normal. ’No wonder she was so upset,’ he thought. ’I misunderstood her.’ He wasn’t an unreasonable person, so he immediately said,

"I’m sorry. I misunderstood you."

Naomi Shaw quickly shook her head.

"It’s okay. As long as the misunderstanding is cleared up, it’s fine!"

Lara Nash, standing to the side, was furious at Naomi’s lack of backbone. She snapped rudely at Julian Donovan,

"Hey! You hurt her badly with your nasty words just now, and you think a simple ’sorry’ is enough to get away with it?"

"What do you want?"

Julian Donovan’s sharp gaze swept over Lara Nash. His glare sent an inexplicable chill down her spine. ’I really don’t know what Naomi sees in him,’ she muttered to herself. ’He’s just good-looking, that’s all. His personality is nothing to write home about.’

However, she put on a brave face and said,

"I want you to comfort her properly, not just brush it off with one cold sentence!"

"Lara..."

Naomi Shaw quickly tried to calm Lara down, but seeing that Julian Donovan wasn’t reacting, Lara’s fiery temper flared and she lashed out with a kick, roaring,

"Didn’t you hear what I said!"

Although Lara Nash was a woman, she hated being followed by bodyguards and had trained herself in martial arts. She wasn’t like the gentle and frail Naomi Shaw, who always needed Tyson to protect her.

As Lara Nash attacked, Julian Donovan defended instinctively. Lara hadn’t expected him to have some skills. She shoved Naomi Shaw aside and engaged him in a full-on fight. Today, she was determined to teach this clueless man, who dared to look down on her Naomi, a lesson. She unleashed a flurry of Boxing moves, each one whistling through the air.

Although Julian Donovan didn’t want to fight a woman, Lara Nash’s attacks were fierce and relentless, forcing him to counter her moves. The two of them fought from the doorway all the way out into the yard, scaring Naomi Shaw so much her face turned pale. At first, she hadn’t known Julian Donovan was skilled in martial arts and was afraid Lara would hurt him. But when she realized he was not only skilled but also better than Lara, she started worrying that he would hurt Lara instead.

But in her agonizing dilemma, she lacked the strength to pull them apart, so she could only stand there, stamping her feet and shouting,

"Lara, Julian, please stop fighting!"

"Hey! I’m begging you, please stop fighting, okay!"

"Lara, stop!"

Ronan Joyce could also see that Lara was the one relentlessly pestering him.

At Ronan Joyce’s shout, Lara finally stopped. Ronan stepped forward and pulled her into his arms.

"Stop messing around! What do you think you’re doing?"

Lara shot an angry glare at Julian Donovan.

"He bullied Naomi!"

Ronan Joyce didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ’She’s such a busybody,’ he thought, ’but her straightforward, genuine personality is exactly what I love about her.’ So, all he could do was say to Julian Donovan,

"Sorry about that."

Julian Donovan snorted coldly.

"Control your woman!"

Then he turned and went back into his room. Naomi Shaw, who had been about to step forward and ask if he was hurt, froze in place. ’Forget it,’ she thought. ’It’s not like he wants my concern anyway.’

With a self-deprecating smile, she walked over to Lara and asked,

"How are you? Are you hurt?"
