CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 226: Follow Behind
Amy and everyone in Welsh Mansion had been eagerly waiting for the day of Bellory’s first branch opening, and that day had finally arrived. In anticipation of the event, everyone woke up early, as they planned to head to the Century Hotel branch well in advance.
Amy’s excitement was so strong that she asked Demi for something to help her sleep the night before this special day. Demi kindly brewed her a cup of chamomile tea, which not only made Amy feel good before going to bed but also upon waking up the next morning.
When she opened her eyes, Henry is no longer beside her, the sky is still dark, so she’s guessing it is still dawn. The good feeling that the tea gave her and her excitement quickly dissipated when Amy checked her phone immediately after waking up.
She discovered a lot of missed calls from Theo and Mary. Upon reading Mary’s latest text message, she swiftly got out of bed and made her way downstairs, toward the dining room.
As Amy made her way toward the dining room, she noticed Mary and Sandra engaged in a phone conversation in the living room. Simultaneously, Anton, Rei, and Henry were deep in conversation by the open patio door, their expressions serious.
Furthermore, Maya appeared visibly concerned, sitting with a frown while working on her laptop. Amy, sensing the atmosphere of panic and confusion, decided to talk to Maya for some answers.
Curious and worried, Amy approached Maya and asked, "Maya, what’s happening? Everyone seems panicked, and why is everyone gathered here?"
Maya, with a concerned expression, began to explain the situation to Amy. "Oh, Amy, something bad happened at the Century Hotel branch. Theo informed us that one of the water pipes burst, leaving the place unusable for today. They need to repair it and dry the area before we can proceed."
Before Amy could respond, Mary, who had just finished her phone call, walked to her. "Thank goodness you’re finally awake. I tried calling you, but you didn’t answer, so I came over instead," Mary explained.
"Why didn’t you wake me up when you arrived?" Amy asked, a hint of annoyance in her voice.
Mary scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Well, your husband didn’t want to disturb your beauty sleep," she replied. "But don’t worry, we’ve resolved the issue, so there’s no need to panic."
Confused, Amy questioned, "What do you mean? Maya just told me we can’t use the place yet."
Mary nodded in understanding. "Yes, that’s true. However, we’ve made alternative arrangements. We’ve decided to open the branch in the Mall instead since it’s ready anyways. I’ve already contacted the branch manager there and informed her about the situation. She and her team will come in tomorrow."
She continued, providing further details. "Anton arranged for Welsh Holdings’ company bus to pick up the employees from the hotel branch and transfer them to the mall branch. I’ve also informed their manager about the change. Sandra and Maya are handling the necessary announcements and notifying the suppliers and other employees. I still have a few phone calls to make, so why don’t you go check on Demi for breakfast? The men are still discussing some matters."
Amy, relieved by the explanation, believed Mary’s words and headed to the kitchen to find Demi and attend to breakfast duties. She thought that it is the least she can do after her team took care of everything for her.
Unbeknownst to Amy and Henry, Mary had not actually informed any managers or executives about the situation, as per Rei’s instructions. She had let them believe that the event would still take place as scheduled. The true intention was to inform them only when they gathered everyone to board the bus arranged by Anton.
Rei is clearly aware of the gravity of the situation, realizing that if someone was willing to pay a significant amount to sabotage a plane, they would likely persist until their objective was achieved. With this assumption, he couldn’t afford to take anything for granted and made it a priority to thoroughly investigate all possible angles to ensure Amy and Henry’s complete protection, regardless of their location.
After breakfast, the group proceeded to the mall branch, which was intentionally chosen as the third on the list instead of the second branch which was also located in a prominent city mall. Rei made this decision to prevent any possible mole within his team from discovering the exact location they were referring to, just in case.
Mary, accompanied by Mitch, Dave, and Anton, headed to the Century Hotel branch, while the others joined Amy to go to the mall branch.
Upon their arrival at the hotel branch, Kevin, clearly in a displeased mood, confronted Mary. "Mary, I’ve been trying to reach you but couldn’t get through. What’s going on? The hotel security is not allowing us to enter."
Mary lied, feigning surprise. "I was trying to contact you as well, but couldn’t reach you. There was a minor accident there, and the contractor needs to fix it before we can open the place," she explained.
Kevin’s confusion turned to frustration. "What?! We were supposed to open in three hours. What are we going to do now?"
Mary responded confidently, "I’m calm because I’ve already resolved the issue." She then clapped her hands to gather everyone’s attention. "Listen, everyone, there was a problem at the hotel branch. So, instead, we will be opening the next branch. Let’s all hop on the bus, and we’ll go there together."
Without question, everyone obediently boarded the bus, except for Kevin, who remained behind, his expression filled with suspicion and doubt. Except for Kevin...
Mitch and Dave closely observed Kevin’s strong reaction to the situation, noting his evident frustration. Sensing the need to address the issue, Mitch approached Kevin and tried to persuade him to board the bus with the rest of the group.
"Sir, please join us on the bus so that we can leave right away," Mitch urged, hoping to convince Kevin to come along.
However, Kevin stood his ground and declined the offer. "You go ahead without me. I have my car here, so I’ll just follow behind," he reasoned before departing from the scene.
Mitch and Dave exchanged concerned glances, realizing that Kevin’s decision to separate himself from the group might require additional attention and surveillance to ensure their plan.
