Chapter 888: 294: How did you guess so accurately? (Requesting monthly tickets!) _2

David Robinson said he had never seen such an offense: "Before we could set up our defense, the Hawks had already made their move. It’s like being hit with a punch before the boxing match even starts!"

The helplessness of the Spurs’ Twin Towers left the entire league feeling hopeless.

The Spurs this season were terrifying. Because of their zone defense, they became the strongest defensive team in the league, holding opponents to an average of 88 points per game.

Only the Spurs, Pistons, and 76ers in the league could hold their opponents to an average of less than 90 points, and among them, the Spurs were the best at it.

If even the Spurs couldn’t stop the Hawks, other teams would have even less of a chance.

But Roger disagreed with the Twin Towers’ statement: "As if they could stop us last season."

Roger was used to dominating the league; for him, winning streaks were what the team was supposed to achieve.

As an undefeated king, he couldn’t empathize with others’ despair.

What puzzled David Stern was that in the season when the league officially allowed zone defenses, the West was dominated by an offensive team.

While the Atlanta Hawks made rapid victories with their fast-paced style, the Sacramento Kings had a record of 6 wins and 1 loss so far.

They also broke through the defense of most strong defensive teams, with their only loss being to another offensive team, the Dallas Mavericks.

Apart from that loss, the Kings feared no strong opponent.

The Sacramento Kings’ Princeton offense amazed the league last season, but it did not have the dominance it showed this year.

This year, the biggest change for the Kings was swapping White Chocolate at the point guard position for the illustrious White Devil Mike Bibby.

Mike Bibby’s style was the exact opposite of White Chocolate; he preferred a more practical approach, had an excellent personal attack style, and could impact the game on defense.

If you wanted ticket sales, you’d like White Chocolate. But if you liked winning, Mike Bibby was the best choice.

Mike Bibby’s addition gave the Kings real championship strength, with his individual scoring ability providing the Kings with a problem-solver on the court.

Mike Bibby was almost a versatile scorer; his strong physique ensured excellent finishing at the basket, and his jump shots were hot zones at any distance and angle.

Just looking at the stats, you’d find his scoring not high.

But that was because he only took over the game when needed.

Mike Bibby had transformed the Kings completely, also bringing Chris Webber newfound confidence.

Webber truly believed he was very close to winning a championship.

If they could beat the Atlanta Hawks next, then Shaq could no longer mock them as the "Sacramento Queens."

The Kings team arrived in Atlanta full of confidence the night before the game, and Mike Bibby gave a call to his long-time friend Stephen Jackson to invite him for dinner.

Stephen Jackson and Mike Bibby’s friendship began during their school days. Stephen Jackson initially thought Bibby was a weak white guard at the bottom of the food chain, ready to teach him a lesson, only to find out that guy wasn’t white at all, nor weak, and had quite a mouth on him.

The two became friends, admiring each other’s fighting spirit, and their friendship only grew stronger over time.

In fact, Stephen Jackson was able to be selected by the Suns in the second round, thanks to Mike Bibby’s mom arranging for the Suns to give Jackson a trial opportunity.

Such an invitation from a close friend, in the past, Stephen Jackson would have never refused.

He’d have dragged Bibby to be Magic for a night, enjoying the beauty of a rainbow up close.

But today he was uncharacteristic: "Forget it, Mike. I need to keep practicing. I don’t want to end up sleeping on your couch after being cut."

"Why work so hard, Stephen? You’re going to lose anyway tomorrow."

"Shut up, Mike."

"No, I won’t. You’re going to lose tomorrow, I’m not joking. The whole league got it wrong, thinking they could defend the best offense with defense. Have they considered that only offense can beat offense? They always say their defense isn’t strong enough, but they never think it’s their offense that’s too weak. So far, no team has truly taken advantage of the aftermath of Big Ben leaving; next game, we’ll make full use of that."

Mike Bibby wasn’t joking; this was what Kings’ coach Rick Adelman summarized.

Since the start of the season, the Sacramento Kings had a winning streak, and no team’s defense could stop the Princeton offense enhanced by Mike Bibby, except they lost to the more offensive Dallas Mavericks.

This was an inspiration; it’s foolish to think you can stop the Hawks, but what about matching their offensive power?

Adelman was full of confidence for this match. Ben Wallace’s departure would give the Princeton offense countless easy chances at the rim.

For the next game, Adelman guaranteed he would make Atlanta people miss their DPOY terribly.

Mike Bibby agreed with Adelman’s judgment, so he was equally confident.

"Got it, Stephen? You’re going to be sad tomorrow anyway, why not come out and have some fun tonight?"

"Shut up, Mike!" Stephen Jackson emphasized again.

"You can’t avoid reality. I’d say the same even if Roger was here; you’re definitely losing tomorrow night."

Of course, Mike Bibby wouldn’t dare say that; though he loved trash-talking, he wasn’t an idiot.

He knew the saying "don’t upset the Truth."

But who cares? Roger wasn’t here, so why not show off a bit?

But soon, a chilling voice came through the phone: "Tell your buddy Mike I admire his courage."

"WTF? Stephen, who just spoke!?"

"Idiot, I told you to shut up!"

"You should’ve told me Roger was next to you!"

"I told you to shut up!"

"You damn... Hey Roger, can you hear me? I just..."

"Mike, stop talking; Roger’s gone to the shower."

"Did he say anything?"

"He just said he admired your courage, but I think you guys are doomed. You really should go out and relax tonight, because tomorrow night will be long."

Bibby hung up the phone, stood blankly for a few seconds, then trudged onto the team bus.

On the bus, his teammates were excited about the upcoming game.

"We’re going to take down the best team in the league!"

"Everyone will be shocked tomorrow."

"The Hawks conquer the league; we slay the Hawks."

Seeing Mike Bibby’s heavy expression, Webber yelled at him: "Mike, what’s wrong? Did they mistake you for a flyer handout gym trainer again?"

The whole team burst into laughter, as Bibby’s white looks and big build earned him the nickname "Gym Trainer" within the team.

Bibby looked at his happy teammates, but couldn’t manage a smile.

Seeing Bibby still down, Webber patted his shoulder and joked: "Don’t look so worried, buddy. In Atlanta, just don’t call Roger saying you’ll win tomorrow, and you’ll be fine."

"How did you guess so accurately?"

"Huh!?"

Chris Webber’s smile gradually faded.

That damn White Devil!
