Chronicle of the 70s-Chapter 354 - 341: The Fight
Li Xianglu furrowed her brows. Who was this person, and why were they barging in? She put her child down and went out, only to see a thirty-year-old woman pushing and shoving Hu Zi while yelling, "Indecency! Someone is trying to molest me!"
Upon seeing this, Li Xianglu took a few steps forward and called out, "Hu Zi, step aside. Let me see who this auntie is."
The moment the woman heard her, she stopped her frenzied behavior, widened her eyes, and looked over, "And who might you be!"
Li Xianglu walked up beside Hu Zi and snorted coldly, "I was about to ask who you are. Making a scene at someone else’s doorway, what are you trying to do?"
The woman’s nostrils flared in anger as she gritted her teeth and said, "Who are you? I’m looking for Li Yucheng’s parents!"
It was Ba Yi’s full name; Li Xianglu’s mind raced before she remembered, as everyone usually called him Ba Yi, so she didn’t realize at first whom they were referring to. Thus, she looked at the woman and sized her up.
The woman was dressed in a yellow plaid short-sleeved shirt and blue cloth pants, with ear-length short hair. Her unusually large face made her seem older than she probably was, and she wore a pair of half-worn black leather shoes.
After looking her over, Li Xianglu said coldly, "I am Li Yucheng’s mother. Who are you?"
The woman was somewhat in disbelief when she heard this. The woman opposite her seemed to be only in her twenties; how could she have such an older son? But since someone had claimed to be the parent, she called to the side, "Niannian, come out."
Then, from around the corner, a three or four-year-old chubby little boy came waddling out, his snot hanging long. He sniffed it back up upon arrival, and when it still dripped down, he wiped it with his bare arm, leaving a long trail of snot on his face.
The woman frowned at the sight, went over to wipe her son’s nose, and then instantly smeared it on the wall.
Li Xianglu was nearly disgusted to death by this.
The woman pulled her son over, pointing to a bump on the back of his head, "See that? Your twins did this, two of them ganging up on our one child! And you still act all high and mighty. So, tell me, what are we going to do about this?"
Li Xianglu immediately surmised the whole situation. It seemed unnecessary to say that the scars on her sons’ faces must have been caused by this chubby child. With a cold huff, she said to Hu Zi, "Hu Zi, go call the headmaster and Teacher Wang here. Tell them there is an emergency at my house."
Hu Zi immediately left to relay the message. Li Xianglu then opened the door wide, "Come in, the headmaster and Teacher Wang will arrive soon. Let’s properly discuss what exactly happened."
Upon hearing Li Xianglu’s arrangements, the woman was stunned. Wasn’t it supposed to be about offering apologies and perhaps compensation for medical expenses? Why call the headmaster? She hesitated for a moment and did not enter the house.
Li Xianglu wasn’t in a hurry, knowing the headmaster and Teacher Wang were just down the alley and would not take more than seven or eight minutes to arrive. Turning her head, she went back inside to check on the children.
Both children had stopped crying by then. Su Yan was applying purple lotion to them. Ba Yi had a three-centimeter scratch on his forehead and cheeks, while Ba’er was slightly better off, with only some marks on his neck. The more serious one was a raised bump at the back of his head that could be felt with a hand.
Li Xianglu was furious for a moment. Ba Yi and Ba’er weren’t even two years old yet. How could someone just let their child be beaten like this?
Almost overcome with anger, Li Xianglu was about to go out and reason with the woman when she heard Hu Zi’s voice, "Sister Li, the headmaster and Teacher Wang are here."
Already?
Li Xianglu greeted them at the door and saw the headmaster, Teacher Wang, and that woman standing at the doorway talking.
After approaching, Li Xianglu said indifferently, "Please come inside. It’s really unseemly to stand at the door."
Just as Li Xianglu was turning her head, she heard the woman snort, "You know it’s unseemly. What took you so long?"
Li Xianglu spun around with a cold glare, ready to pounce if the woman dared to utter another word.
Having hesitated upon seeing Li Xianglu’s reaction, the woman took a cautious step back. But then, seeing the headmaster and Teacher Wang next to her, she grew bolder, "Did I say something wrong? If you taught your child properly, look at what your son did to mine."
Li Xianglu snorted, "Ha! I’d like to know how you educate your child. My son is only one year and nine months old, barely learned to walk. And your son? How old is he? Don’t you know?"
Upon hearing that, the woman pursed her lips and said, "That’s because your sons are tall and strong; of course, two can overpower one."
