Chapter 405: Chapter 405: Gotta Meet First Before Anything Else

Ethan Sterling considered his approach to winning back his wife to be miles away from those of the male protagonists in romance novels. He truly had no idea what he was doing. Even though he understood Ruby Sullivan’s concerns, he couldn’t find a good method to change her mind.

So, the novels recommended by Aidan Sinclair were of no use at all. They not only highlighted the differences between him and those protagonists but also made him realize how exceptional his wife was. No matter how he tried to suppress her, she wouldn’t bow her head. She would rather threaten him than make nice. It was truly impressive.

At first, he obediently separated from her, thinking she would realize his worth once she calmed down. He intentionally mentioned finding a girlfriend to spark her fighting spirit, to let her realize that he, as a diamond bachelor, was still very much sought after. Of course, there was a certain degree of spite involved in the matter of finding a girlfriend. The results were not very favorable.

Moreover, it led him to a more tragic issue. His insomnia returned during the days without Ruby Sullivan, and it was more severe than before. Even drinking was of no avail.

This new year, he couldn’t continue living like this.

Vivian, although unreliable as a mom, was undoubtedly more adept at relationships than any of the guys. So, when she advised him to learn from Uncle Ethan, he indeed ought to listen.

The most crucial element in Uncle Ethan’s success with Vivian was his persistent approach, like a plaster sticking on firmly. Yet, since he couldn’t even see Ruby Sullivan’s face, turning into a persistent plaster wouldn’t help. He had to find her first.

Half an hour later, Ethan received a call from Lucy Larkin. As there was no direct flight, Lucy suggested taking a private jet. However, since the last incident, Ethan hadn’t used a private jet for business trips, so Lucy was careful with her suggestion.

Taking the private jet could save nearly eight hours of time and eliminate the need for a layover. No matter how he thought about it, it was the most sensible choice, though it was impossible for Ethan to claim he wasn’t at least a little apprehensive.

After a moment of silence, he nodded and agreed.

"Alright, I’ll book a room for you at Mrs. Sterling’s hotel right away," Lucy cleverly adjusted her address. She actually looked down on Ruby Sullivan a bit. Her boss was so exceptional, why choose a woman with so many controversies? Moreover, for her and her shameless sister, her boss’s reputation was ruined.

That’s why, knowing Hannah Jennings was in Ethan’s office that day, Lucy said nothing and let Ruby Sullivan go up. She wanted this woman to have some self-awareness. She hadn’t expected that after just the new year, her boss’s heart was once again captivated.

She was equally curious about why her boss became so indecisive when encountering this woman.

With her calling Ruby "Mrs. Sterling," Ethan’s mood lifted a bit, "Thank you for your trouble so late at night."

Lucy was taken aback, "Mr. Sterling, it’s my duty."

"Alright, get some sleep early, good night." Ethan hung up the phone blissfully.

On the other end, Lucy’s face turned red and her heart raced from his goodnight, instantly creating a resolve to do anything for him.

Still, Ethan was uneasy with his scattered thoughts. Ruby Sullivan, that fellow, even had the Head Monk in mind, proving she wasn’t afraid of The Lawson Group’s retaliation. Fearless of anything, why couldn’t she continue to bother him!

After a layover in Zarathos and another nearly eight-hour flight, Ruby Sullivan finally arrived in Nissa.

Even though it was around one in the local time, it was about bedtime back in Celestia. Plus, after nearly twenty hours of flight time, Ruby felt dizzy and just wanted to sleep once she landed.

The local guide she hired was a slim Gallian girl named Anna. Since there was no language barrier, Ruby didn’t opt for a Celestian guide and instead prioritized good driving skills.

On the way to the hotel, Ruby arranged the next day’s departure time with Anna. Once at the hotel, she immediately went to her room to sleep.

Nissa was about an hour’s drive from Veridia. Although taking public transport was convenient, she still found driving would save a lot of hassle, given the uncertainty of visiting several estates the next day.

Veridia, the perfume capital, was a paradise for every perfumer. However, being self-taught, Ruby wasn’t overly in awe of this place; she just liked the environment. A place where all kinds of delicate flowers could grow freely naturally had an agreeable climate.

During her time at The Lawson Group, she had come here for inspiration. The vast fields of flowers and the exquisite perfumeries left a deep impression on her.

Since the introduction of the headspace analysis method in the perfume industry, perfumers had learned to cut corners. With capsules capturing the gases desired from nature, scents could be reproduced through headspace analysis.

However, Lawson claimed machines lack soul. The scents bestowed by nature, while beautiful, only a perfumer could give scent its soul.

After months of chaos, Ruby’s mind felt empty. She hoped this trip to Veridia would help her find a reliable supplier and provide her nose with a grand baptism.

The next day, Anna arrived at the hotel right on time to pick her up. Ruby wore a light green dress with various leaf prints and lace-up flat sandals, looking both elegant and charming. Though her height was considered tall in Celestia, she appeared a bit delicate beside Anna, the Euronia beauty.

Unlike the pure no-makeup look of the previous day, Ruby was meticulously styled today. Anna looked at her for a while, found her familiar, but couldn’t recall where she’d seen her before. Finally, twenty minutes into the journey, she suddenly asked, "I remembered, aren’t you often in fashion magazines?"

Ruby, in the front seat, tilted her head and smiled, "I’ve been on MF a few times."

"I remembered, you’re the famous Wenny! I bought a bottle of ’Cherry Blossom Love’ by The Lawson Group before. But I prefer the perfume you crafted at Nirvana, the bottle is too beautiful, it struck right into my heart! But, being a student, the price through personal shoppers was quite steep, out of my reach." She expressed her regret with a wry smile.

"Hmm...I hope I can sell my perfumes in Gallia this year." She truly hadn’t expected to be recognized. Since leaving The Lawson Group, she’d kept a low profile, even accepting her award last time via a video interview with MF after returning to Celestia.

It seemed her four years at The Lawson Group had indeed laid a good foundation for her, which she hadn’t noticed before.

After the chat with Anna, Ruby felt even more confident about taking Nirvana beyond Celestia’s borders.

At the destination, the sales manager of the fragrance supplier welcomed her. After a brief greeting, they apologized, saying, "Today’s itinerary requires adding a person. It’s a last-minute decision. If you’re not comfortable with it, we can coordinate a different time with the gentleman."

Ninety percent of those coming here were competitors. Whether or not they were in the same market, it was usually unwise. Just as she was about to decline, they added, "The gentleman said he knows you, and is a friend of yours."
