Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls-Chapter 339: Huo Qi Nian
They left the inn afterwards and continued their journey.
It was a long and uneventful journey with a few stops in between, but they finally arrived at the capital city by late noon.
When their convoy got near to the city gates, Lin Xuan Qi peered out from inside and had a look at how Bian Jing was.
There were paved roads even outside the gates with bustling traffic of men and women on foot with pushcarts, men on horses, and horse carriages with their entourage of guards and servants.
The city wall was even higher than the ones in Hong Feng City.
Soldiers were also everywhere, with men that looked like cultivators wearing their robes and weapons in their hands.
"Noodles."
"Hot cake with red date paste."
"Sesame buns."
Food vendors were hawking their food even outside the city walls.
Yue Xin also peered out of the window excitedly and she was amazed at how much busier and how much larger the scale was.
"It is so prosperous." She said with excitement and Lin Xuan Qi nodded his head.
That was good news for him.
His businesses would be able to make more money if it was so.
The number of rich clans and families in Hong Feng City wasn’t comparable to what it was here.
His soap business would have a lot more buyers.
And as for the Lin Clan Taste Transcendent Essence that he aimed for mass appeal, it would work with the far larger population here, which was at least five times more than Hong Feng City.
Liu Shi Shi was relatively calm and quiet.
She had been in Bian Jing before and so, it wasn’t too much of a wonder for her.
"Next." The soldiers at the gates shouted and their convoy moved.
When they saw the emblems of the Huo and Lu Clan, they didn’t ask much and let them in.
Lin Xuan Qi could see the envy on their faces as they looked at the horse carriages when he passed them by.
And soon, he could see why.
The number of cultivators was so much higher here that he figured about one third were cultivators with the rest being mortals.
From the dressing and how they behaved, the cultivators acted like they were already immortals.
The mortals, like the vendors or pedestrians, avoided the cultivators whenever they could.
"I’m so sorry." One of the vendors got in the way of a cultivator and the vendor quickly bowed and scurried away from the cultivator.
Lin Xuan Qi could see the fear in the vendor when he did so.
And when the vendor stumbled upon their convoy, he thought the vendor would die of a heart attack when the vendor saw the emblems of the Huo and Lu Clan on the horse carriages.
The Huo and Lu Clan were two of the largest clans in Bian Jing.
No one in their right mind would want to mess with them.
"I’m so sorry." The unlucky vendor apologized again, picked up the wares that were strewn onto the ground and scurried away in another direction.
Others also glanced at their convoy in awe and many started to chatter about who Lin Xuan Qi was.
His horse carriage and guards looked relatively cheap compared to the Huo and Lu Clan’s horse carriages.
But they could only speculate on their own.
No one dared to approach them and ask.
First, their convoy headed towards the Huo Clan Mansion.
It was in the inner city where only those who were close to the emperor and power would be able to reside.
Curfews would be implemented after Zi hour, which was near midnight.
Those who lived in the inner city were able to have a great and secure life.
"Brother Xuan Qi, we have finally arrived." Huo Fei Li’s voice sounded from outside Lin Xuan Qi’s horse carriage and Lin Xuan Qi alighted from his horse carriage.
"Wow..." Yue Xin wanted to exclaim in excitement when she saw the huge mansion in front of her but she quickly stopped herself.
She didn’t want to cause trouble for Lin Xuan Qi.
Lin Xuan Qi too was amazed at the Huo Clan Mansion.
The walls of the mansion stretched up to around four hundred meters.
But it was many times more glamorous and luxurious than his mansion was.
The walls had scriptures written in gold which he figured were for the protection of the mansion when someone attacked.
And there were intricate wood carvings with scenes from tales on the pillars.
Lin Xuan Qi couldn’t help but sigh silently at how much more he had to do to catch up to a rich clan like the Huo Clan.
But he was confident he would be able to do so if he kept at it.
With him being a cultivator now, his lifespan could be prolonged if he ascended through the different levels of cultivation.
"Welcome to the Huo Clan, you must be young master Lin, the person who saved my son’s life." A man’s voice that was low boomed in the air and Lin Xuan Qi quickly glanced in the direction of where it came from.
He felt a gust of wind and a few figures appeared out of nowhere.
Lin Xuan Qi could see that the man looked somewhat like Huo Jun with his thick eyebrows and beard, but also had much more delicate features like Huo Fei Li.
The man nodded at him approvingly and said, "Young master Lin is indeed good looking and talented like what my son had said.
"I’m Huo Qi Nian, the clan head of the Huo Clan and Huo Fei Li’s father."
Lin Xuan Qi gave Huo Qi Nian an awkward smile and cupped his hands at Huo Qi Nian, "Yes, I’m Lin Xuan Qi but I’m not too sure about the part about being good looking and talented..."
He wanted to roll his eyes at Huo Fei Li but Huo Qi Nian burst out laughing before he could do that.
Yue Xin and Liu Shi Shi wanted to roll their eyes at Lin Xuan Qi instead.
That was how he had always boasted about himself to them.
"These must be your wife and concubine?" Huo Qi Nian noticed them and asked.
He nodded at Lin Xuan Qi and said, "That’s good, a man should have more, don’t be like my son."
"Father, it’s cold out here. Let’s talk inside." Huo Fei Li came over and quickly chimed in.
