Chapter 766: Chapter 766: I’ll Listen to You From Now On

"Assistant Chen, how’s the matter coming along?"

Mo Qian was reviewing the latest quarterly sales report. Hearing the noise at the door, he asked casually without lifting his head.

The office fell silent for two seconds.

Not hearing a response, Mo Qian finally raised his head in slight surprise.

When he saw Ji Wei standing at the door, his deep eyes immediately softened, "Why is it you?"

Mo Qian stood up right away and walked toward her. Noticing the redness and swelling on Ji Wei’s forehead, his gaze darkened instantly, "What happened? Does it hurt?"

Ji Wei didn’t seem to mind and answered with a light laugh, "I accidentally hit the steering wheel."

Mo Qian grabbed her hand with a serious expression. As he led her toward the living area at the back of the office, he spoke in a low voice, "Why didn’t you have Old Xu drive you over? Driving on your own—are you planning to get into another car accident?"

Though his words were reproachful, they were filled with concern, warming Ji Wei’s heart.

She pursed her lips, replying obediently, "I understand. I won’t do it next time."

"Another next time?" The man turned to glance at her.

Ji Wei: "..."

It made her feel like a guilty schoolchild caught by a parent. Except, driving alone shouldn’t be such a big deal.

"Why aren’t you saying anything?" Mo Qian tightened his grip on her hand.

She instinctively looked up at him.

Their gazes met, and unspoken emotions swirled in the space between them. Recalling all the things Mo Qian had silently done for her, Ji Wei’s nose tingled as she spoke with a hint of sourness, "From now on, I’ll listen to you."

Mo Qian’s lips curved into a faint smile as he led her to the couch in the living area.

After settling her on the couch, Mo Qian turned to retrieve the first aid kit.

Moments later, he returned carrying the white kit and crouched down in front of her.

Mo Qian squeezed some ointment for swelling onto his fingertip. With his other hand, he gently brushed aside the strands of hair falling over Ji Wei’s forehead and applied the ointment to the swollen area.

While he applied the medicine, his expression was remarkably focused. The elegant line of his jaw tilted slightly upward, and his deep eyes were filled with tenderness and concern.

"Was the bump caused by braking suddenly?" Mo Qian’s calm voice suddenly broke the silence.

Ji Wei did not deny it.

At such close proximity, her senses were overwhelmed by the scent of Mo Qian. Staring at his impeccably clean, handsome face, Ji Wei felt her cheeks growing warm.

Her clear, bright eyes lingered on Mo Qian for a moment before she added, "Someone suddenly ran out onto the road—it forced me to brake."

"Who’s so reckless that they’d dash onto the road?" Mo Qian paused in his movements and narrowed his eyes at her.

Ji Wei had no intent to hide the truth. She met his gaze squarely as she answered, "It was Ji Shanshan."

Her voice was calm, her emotions seemingly steady.

Almost two years had passed. Seeing Ji Shanshan again, who had mercilessly slapped her, Ji Wei felt it was only fitting to return the favor. Dealing with people intent on self-destruction left no room for sympathy.

"Did she bully you?" A faint chill crept into Mo Qian’s expression.

Ji Wei curled her lips and shook her head, "No. Two years later, she’s still playing the same old tricks—trying to provoke me with her words. I, on the other hand, didn’t hesitate to give her a few slaps as our greeting."

Hearing her say that, Mo Qian relaxed a bit.

He continued applying the ointment.

The subtle mint scent of the ointment felt cool and soothing on the injury.

Watching Mo Qian’s gentle movements, his carefulness to avoid hurting her even slightly, Ji Wei felt deeply moved. She clenched her hands slightly and tentatively asked, "Mo Qian, you’ve known about the separation agreement for quite some time, haven’t you?"
