Clinging to Devoted Fiancé, Heiress Slays the World!-Chapter 767: How Could I Bear to Be Angry with You
"Hmm."
Mo Qian responded calmly, as if Ji Wei’s question was nothing out of the ordinary.
Ji Wei was taken aback by his composed reaction, stunned and unable to process what had just happened.
Mo Qian pulled a tissue from the side, wiped off the residual ointment on his fingertips, then raised his eyes to glance at her.
Ji Wei stood up nervously, mustering her courage to look at the man’s refined face, and spoke: "Mo Qian, actually that agreement was something I came up with impulsively after our fight. I nullified it a long time ago... If you feel angry, I understand."
Mo Qian paused slightly, then raised his hand to lift the woman’s delicate chin, gazing into her clear eyes as he spoke in his low voice: "Hmm, I suppose I should be angry. You actually planned to live apart from me for three months."
Ji Wei’s eyes widened at his words.
The next second, Mo Qian’s tone suddenly shifted: "But, I’ve also handed you two divorce agreements before. Would that make us even?"
Huh? Ji Wei looked at him, shocked, as the amusement in his eyes betrayed his emotions.
His meaning—was he letting it go?
To resolve the crisis so effortlessly, Ji Wei found it all a bit surreal.
When she finally snapped out of her daze, she realized that Mo Qian’s handsome face was drawing closer and closer.
Ji Wei blinked, but before she could avoid him, her soft lips were captured by the man’s thin ones.
Mo Qian gently kissed her lips, then brushed against the corner of her mouth as his low voice sounded: "How could I bear to be angry with you? That you’re able to forgive my past mistakes—I’m truly grateful and cherish it deeply. You are my lost-and-found..."
The man’s tender words made Ji Wei’s heart race uncontrollably, and for a moment, she felt like she couldn’t breathe.
How on earth was she supposed to handle such a confession?
Ji Wei struggled to steady her emotions, paused, and then spoke: "Assistant Chen said someone followed you last night—someone from the British Embassy. Does that person have any connection with Ji Shanshan?"
Mo Qian reached out and gently caressed her flushed cheek, his seductive voice sounding once again: "Hmm. Chen Ke is investigating the matter. Based on preliminary findings, Ji Shanshan may very well have ties to a powerful family overseas."
A powerful family?
Could it be that with newfound backing, Ji Shanshan’s actions upon returning were so brazen?
Seeing the woman frowning in contemplation, Mo Qian placed his slender finger on her furrowed brow, speaking gently: "Don’t let irrelevant people affect your mood, hmm?"
Ji Wei raised her gaze and met his warm eyes, feeling shaken as she nodded lightly.
"You rarely get a chance to come out. Tonight, let’s have dinner outside," Mo Qian suggested.
"Alright, I’ll call Aunt Zhu in a bit to let her know."
With Ji Wei’s arrival, the originally planned overtime was canceled.
Mr. Gu left work on time, and naturally, the other employees no longer needed to stay in the office. Each one excitedly packed up their things and departed—some for dates, others heading home.
Mo Qian embraced Ji Wei as they went downstairs, settling into the waiting Maybach.
"What do you feel like eating tonight?" In the car, he held Ji Wei close and asked.
Ji Wei smiled softly: "Just something simple—Chinese cuisine works."
"Alright, let’s go to that well-reviewed private kitchen restaurant."
The car passed through streets adorned with neon lights and pulled up in front of a charmingly styled private kitchen. As they exited the car and walked toward the restaurant, Ji Wei suddenly noticed a familiar figure in the distance.
"That person looks like Mr. Ye," she said, pointing ahead in surprise.
