Common Sense Hijack System-Chapter 93
Chapter 93: Chapter 93
David stared at the soldiers in front of him, his face calm and even carrying a hint of a mocking smile. With a swift motion, his hand shot up, and in an instant, the cosmic energy around him surged like a wave. A sharp blue light shot from his palm, spreading across the room like an invisible magnetic field.
The soldiers were caught off guard, but before they could react, the energy took control of their bodies. They fell one by one, losing consciousness in the blink of an eye. Some tried to scream, but their voices were cut off as their bodies crumpled, lying helplessly on the floor.
Karl stood beside his father, eyes wide as he watched the scene unfold. The entire room was now filled with silence, broken only by the gentle breeze stirred by the power David had just unleashed.
"Dad... what did you just do?" Karl finally found his voice, his tone shaking.
David let out a sigh and looked at Karl, eyes still sparkling with energy. "This power is part of me, Karl. And now, we need to move before they wake up."
Karl looked at his father, confusion and awe mixing in his expression. "But... they can’t just be..."
David raised an eyebrow, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "They have no idea who they’re dealing with, Karl. And now, I’m making sure we don’t stop until we find your mom and sister."
With a wave of his hand, David directed the energy to unlock the large door at the end of the room. He cast a quick glance at the bodies lying on the floor, then turned to Karl. "Let’s go. It’s time to find our family."
Karl nodded, gathering his courage. Though confusion still clouded his mind, he knew one thing: he had never fully known his father.
David signaled Vincent, now in his orb form, to point them toward Lucy and Ella (Karl’s sister).
David looked at Vincent with a meaningful stare. "Vincent, guide us to the room where Lucy and Ella are," he said firmly.
Vincent projected a holographic map of the building. "They’re on the top floor, in the observation room at the end of the main hallway," Vincent replied without hesitation, his voice mechanical and steady.
David turned to Karl. "Let’s go, we need to move fast. They won’t wait forever."
Karl nodded wordlessly. His mind was full of anxiety, but he pushed it deep down. They hurried toward the nearest elevator.
Every guard they encountered along the way fell in an instant to David’s power. His cosmic energy flowed with precision, subduing without causing harm. Karl kept walking behind, eyes glancing at the fallen bodies every now and then.
After a few minutes, they reached a large door marked "Observation." Vincent spoke up, "Here, now turn me back to my human form!"
David chuckled. "Not yet."
Karl and David hurried up the stairs, moving through a building that felt more unfamiliar and filled with strange energy. Once they reached the fourth floor, they found a large door that was slightly ajar. No guards were in sight—just an eerie silence.
Karl pushed the door open slowly, revealing a dark room with dim light filtering through a small window. Inside, Ella and Lucy sat on the floor, side by side, looking confused and tired. They weren’t tied up, but the room had an oppressive atmosphere that made it feel like a cage.
"Ella! Mom!" Karl called, rushing into the room.
Ella looked up quickly. "Karl? Is that really you?" She seemed unsure, but stood up. Lucy also looked over, her face a mix of hope and exhaustion.
But when Ella’s eyes landed on David, her body tensed immediately. She stepped back, eyes narrowing in suspicion. "Who’s he?"
Karl stopped in the middle of the room, bewildered. "Ella, this is Dad. He’s here to help us."
Ella shook her head, disbelief written all over her face. "What? No way! That’s not our dad. His face... he looks... strange, scary."
David took a step forward, his voice deep and calm. "Ella, I know this is hard to believe. But I really am your dad. There’s a lot you don’t understand right now, but I’m here to help you and Lucy."
Ella looked at David, fear evident in her eyes. "Dad isn’t like that. You’re not him. You... you’re not human, are you?"
Karl cut in urgently. "Ella, we don’t have time for this. I know he looks different, but he really is our dad. I know it’s hard to accept—I had to take time to believe it too. But he’s here to save us!"
Lucy, who had been silent until now, spoke up quietly. "Ella... he really is your dad."
Ella looked at Lucy, then back at David, uncertain. "Then what’s really going on? Why... why have you changed like this?"
David took a deep breath. "Ella, I’ll explain everything later. Right now, we need to get out of here before something happens."
Karl walked over to Lucy and took her hand. "We’re leaving now. Trust me, Ella."
Ella stood stiffly, but after seeing the hopeful and sincere look in Lucy’s eyes and Karl’s, she finally nodded. "Alright. But you’d better explain everything when this is over."
David nodded firmly. "I promise."
Karl glanced sharply around. "We’re not alone here."
David stood in front of them, protecting his children. "Follow me. Don’t stop."
David, Karl, Lucy, and Ella stepped cautiously out of the room, but Karl felt tense from Ella’s piercing gaze that had been fixed on him since they’d met. As they reached the safer hallway, Ella couldn’t hold back any longer and started ranting.
"Karl! I don’t even know where to start!" she shouted angrily. "You left us just like that, then suddenly show up with—" she pointed at David—"a stranger who claims to be our dad, with no explanation at all! And what about all that stuff in the news? I read everything, Karl. You’re... disgusting and reckless!"
Karl sighed deeply, trying to stay calm even though his face was flushed. "Ella, I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes, okay? But now isn’t the time to talk about—"
"Not the time? You’ve caused chaos everywhere, and I can’t even go outside without hearing people talk about ’the viral idiot’!" Ella cut in, her voice rising.
Lucy, who was walking beside them, chuckled quietly. "Ella, sweetie, calm down. Everyone makes mistakes."
"But, Mom! Karl didn’t just make ’small mistakes.’ He caused a car accident, slept with someone else’s wife, and what was it... Cindy, who became—ugh, Spermberggirl?!" Ella looked at Karl with disgust.
Karl raised his hands, trying to defend himself. "Listen, I didn’t know my powers would be like this. I was just trying... experimenting. I never meant for Cindy to go viral or for any of this to happen!"
"Of course not," Ella scoffed. "But you were dumb enough to think it was a good idea, right?"
Lucy stifled a laugh, covering her mouth with her hand. "Ella, enough. You have no idea what happened back in my day or your dad’s."
Ella stared at her mom, confused. "What do you mean, Mom?"
Lucy glanced at David, who remained calm and serious, a faint smile on his lips. "Your dad and I were way worse, Ella. We ran from dangerous organizations, destroyed lives that deserved revenge, and... well, our passion was bigger than our wisdom back then."
David added, his voice steady, "We were human before we became something more. Karl, like we once were, is learning about himself. He made mistakes, just like we did. But that doesn’t make him a bad person."
Ella huffed, crossing her arms. "Great, now you’re all defending him."
Karl managed a tired smile. "Thanks, Dad. That helps... a little."
Lucy touched Ella’s arm gently. "Sweetie, this is family. No one’s perfect here. If you can’t forgive Karl, at least try to understand him. We have bigger problems to face now."
Ella looked at her mom, then at Karl. She sighed deeply and nodded. "Alright. But after all this is over, I want a full explanation, Karl. And no holding back."
"Deal," Karl said quickly.
Suddenly, a rumbling noise came from behind them. David stopped and looked in the direction of the sound. "We need to move faster. They’re getting closer."
"Where are we going, exactly?" Ella asked, this time without the sharp tone.
Karl led the way, with David following behind. "We need to get out of this building first."
They continued moving, a bit calmer, though the tension was still palpable. Midway, Ella whispered to Lucy, "Mom, dad still feels scary to me."
Lucy smiled softly. "You’ll get used to it, sweetheart. He’s always been like that."
Karl just let out a long sigh, hoping he could focus on their next objective without getting a new lecture.
As they approached the building’s exit, the atmosphere grew more tense. The hallways they passed were only lit by flickering emergency lights, casting strange shadows on the walls. Their footsteps echoed as Vincent continued to complain about being turned into a fleshy ball by David. Ella was a little scared, but Lucy just chuckled, already knowing David’s capabilities, though she was still puzzled as to why he can using his powers again.
The large exit door finally came into view.
But before they could step outside, the sound of an engine roared closer. A black van screeched to a halt in front of them, and the side sliding door was yanked open roughly.
"Get in, quickly!" A familiar woman’s voice shouted. David froze in place, his expression shifting instantly as his eyes landed on the person inside the van.
"Valencia?" David murmured, almost in disbelief.
The woman, her long hair shimmering in the moonlight, locked eyes with David. Her gaze was sharp yet filled with urgency. "We don’t have time for a reunion, David. Get in before they find you!"
Karl, standing behind David, glanced at the woman with a raised eyebrow. "Dad, you know Valencia?" he asked, his tone laced with confusion.freewebnoveℓ.com
