Conquering Planets: Rise of the Cosmic Tyrant-Chapter 23 - 9: Broken Covenant
The world was on the brink of collapse. Elaris and her comrades stood at the epicenter of an unimaginable conflict. The mighty god Khorath had been temporarily sealed by the celestial energies that had swirled around the young man’s body. The blinding light of the Celestial Convergence had enveloped the god, and for the briefest of moments, there was hope. But hope came at a price, and the price was always greater than anticipated.

"Celestial Convergence successful. Khorath’s power is temporarily sealed. Time remaining: 13 minutes."
The young man, known to the world only as Echo, stood at the forefront of this battle, his heart pounding as the celestial energy within him hummed with raw power. His vision was blurred by the overwhelming surge of starlight, but he felt the weight of the moment settling upon him. The power he now commanded was beyond anything he had ever imagined, but so was the threat they faced.
Khorath’s form was suspended in the air, his body writhing in agony, his immense power fighting against the celestial bonds that held him. His once proud figure now appeared smaller, weakened, almost vulnerable. But there was something in his gaze—a flicker of malevolent intelligence—that suggested this was far from over.
Elya, her sword drawn, stepped forward, her eyes filled with the quiet rage of a warrior who had seen too much death, too many betrayals, and too many fallen comrades. Her voice was cold as she addressed the group.
"We don’t have long," she said, her tone unwavering. "We strike now, or all of this will be for nothing."
Kalen, still recovering from the shock of seeing a god in the flesh, nodded grimly. He was no stranger to battle, but facing Khorath was a whole new realm of danger. "We know what we have to do. But remember, we can’t afford to underestimate him, even in his current state."
The young man, Echo, was still breathing heavily, sweat dripping down his brow. His connection to the system was the only thing keeping him standing, the only thing that was allowing him to keep the celestial forces within him from consuming him entirely. His hands were shaking slightly, but he forced himself to focus.

"Warning: Excessive use of Celestial Convergence will drain the user’s stamina. Recommendation: Use the ability sparingly."
He gritted his teeth, ignoring the warning. This was their only chance. The god in front of them could destroy them with a mere thought if given enough time to recover.
Without a word, Echo raised his hand, focusing the celestial energy once more. The light began to pulse, brighter this time, the stars overhead flickering in response. For a moment, it seemed as though the very fabric of the universe was aligning with his will.
But just as the energy reached its peak, a voice, cold and guttural, filled the air.
"Foolish mortals," Khorath hissed, his voice reverberating across the battlefield. "You think you can imprison a god? You are nothing but ants before me."
Suddenly, the dark god’s form began to shift. The celestial bonds that had bound him crackled, and the pressure in the air seemed to increase tenfold. The stars above seemed to dim, as if even the heavens themselves were recoiling.
Khorath’s eyes, glowing with unholy fire, locked onto Echo. There was an icy, calculating malice in that gaze, a gaze that promised destruction. The air around them vibrated, thick with the oppressive weight of the god’s power. Echo could feel it, the crushing force pushing against his very being, as if Khorath was reaching out to tear him apart.
In that instant, Khorath broke free from the celestial bonds with a roar of rage.

"Warning: Khorath’s power is overwhelming. Celestial Convergence is failing. System recalculating options."
Echo staggered back, the ground beneath him cracking as the sheer force of Khorath’s freedom sent shockwaves through the air. The stars above seemed to flicker out, swallowed by the overwhelming darkness of the god’s wrath.
Elya lunged forward, her sword cutting through the air as she closed the distance between herself and Khorath, but even she knew this was futile. The god was beyond any mortal’s reach.
Khorath’s hand shot forward, and before Echo could react, a massive fist of dark energy collided with the ground, sending a shockwave that knocked everyone off their feet. Echo was sent flying, crashing into the dirt several yards away. The impact stole the breath from his lungs, and for a moment, all he could hear was the ringing in his ears.

"User health at 40%. Recommendation: Regenerate immediately."
He groaned, pushing himself up from the rubble. His vision swam, and his mind screamed for clarity. He had underestimated Khorath. The god’s power was far beyond what he had anticipated.
"Echo!" Elya’s voice cut through the haze, her figure appearing above him as she extended a hand to help him up. "We need to regroup. You can’t keep using that power. It’s draining you!"
He took her hand, pulling himself to his feet. He knew she was right, but there was no time for caution now. Khorath’s form was already beginning to regain its full size, towering over them like a mountain. The god was infuriated, and Echo knew that any second now, he would unleash his full fury.
Echo gritted his teeth. He couldn’t afford to fail now. Not when they were this close.

"New power discovered: Void Pulse. Ability to create a void of energy that nullifies incoming attacks. Requires a significant amount of energy. Warning: Void Pulse may drain the user completely."
The system’s voice, calm and detached as always, seemed to cut through the chaos. Echo’s mind raced as he processed the new ability. This was the breakthrough he had been waiting for.
"Elya," he said, his voice sharp with renewed resolve. "We need to hold him off long enough for me to activate the Void Pulse. It’s our only chance."
Elya’s eyes widened with understanding. She knew the risks, but there was no other option.
"We’ll buy you time," Kalen said, his voice low but firm. "Do what you must."
With that, the rebels rushed forward once more, engaging Khorath in a desperate attempt to slow him down. Echo watched them for a moment, his heart heavy with gratitude, before focusing on the task at hand. He had no more time to lose.
Drawing on every ounce of his strength, Echo closed his eyes and reached deep within himself, calling upon the system. The air around him began to vibrate with energy, and the ground beneath him seemed to tremble.
The Void Pulse was unlike anything he had ever experienced. It wasn’t just an attack—it was a negation, a force that consumed all things in its wake. As the energy swirled around him, the very fabric of reality seemed to bend. The stars above flickered, dimming as the pulse began to form.
But before he could release it, a horrific screech split the air.

"Warning: New threat detected. Khorath’s true form is awakening. Something is wrong."
Echo’s blood ran cold as Khorath’s form began to shift, his eyes glowing with an unnatural fire. The god’s power was surging at an alarming rate, and something far more sinister was taking shape within him.
"No... NO!" Khorath’s voice, distorted and filled with fury, cracked like thunder. "You will regret this, mortals. Your world will burn in ways you cannot imagine."
And then, without warning, the earth itself seemed to split open.
As the world fractured around them, a new, terrifying power began to awaken within Khorath. A power that threatened to tear apart everything in its path. And in that moment, Echo realized with growing dread that they had made a grave mistake.
