Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 114: Justin Huxley Openly Pursues Summer Lowell
At ten o’clock in the evening, Justin Huxley had just driven his car into the garage of the Huxley Residence. As soon as he came out, he saw Tina Huxley wrapped in a robe, clearly waiting for him at the door of the living room.
Guessing why she was waiting for him there, Justin Huxley smiled knowingly and walked over to greet her, "Looking for me for something?"
"You’re asking the obvious." Tina followed behind him, walking into the living room, "I was at the mall today too."
Justin Huxley walked to the table, sat down, and poured himself a glass of water, "I know, I saw you with Nina White earlier. I stayed to watch the show on purpose before stepping in to help."
"Actually, you didn’t need to step in at all. I just can’t stand Summer Lowell and wanted to teach her a lesson." Tina sat across from him, discreetly observing his expression, "Brother, have you lost your mind? Summer Lowell and we aren’t from the same world. You don’t really intend to marry her, do you?"
"As of now, I don’t have that intention," Justin Huxley met Tina’s gaze without hesitation, "Don’t you think that by helping her today, it helps to strengthen the bond between us?"
Actually, Tina also knew the true reason Justin Huxley stepped in to help today, but whenever she remembered what she saw through the binoculars the other day, it stuck in her throat like a bone.
Justin Huxley noticed she had more to say and smiled, "If you have something to say, just say it. Why are you hesitating?"
"A few days ago, when I was out having afternoon tea with Nina White, I saw Summer Lowell and Maxim Sinclair tugging on each other. The way they looked at each other... was off. I think they might..."
Tina bit her lip, poured herself a glass of water, and drank it all at once.
"I thought it was something serious. It’s not surprising to find old feelings between those two," Justin Huxley finished the rest of his water, "Just watch, within three months, I will certainly win over Summer Lowell."
"Three months is a bit too long." Slightly reassured, Tina pushed further, "How about you put in more effort and shorten that time, preferably within a month? I’m afraid that if things drag on, Maxim Sinclair might get desperate and use some unsavory means to snatch Summer Lowell away first."
"There’s no need," Justin Huxley shook his head confidently, "I’ve known Summer for years, and I understand her temperament. You can’t use force with her; tough methods will only push her further away. Whereas Maxim Sinclair only likes to use forceful means, and on that point, he’s already lost."
Tina no longer wanted to hear Summer Lowell’s name. She raised her hand to stifle a long yawn and stood up, "Alright then, I hope you succeed soon. I’m going upstairs to rest. See you tomorrow."
"Go rest," Justin Huxley picked up his phone beside him, fiddling with it as he replied to Tina, "I’ll try to bring you good news as soon as possible."
Monday morning.
After finishing the routine meeting, Summer Lowell was standing by the window discussing matters with Noah when someone approached her, "Director Lowell, there’s a call from the front desk. They want you to go over; someone sent you a gift."
Upon hearing this, Summer Lowell instinctively thought of the roses from last time.
The other attendees who hadn’t left yet and who also remembered the last rose incident looked up and teased Summer Lowell, "Director Lowell, you’re really popular. I still remember that huge bunch of roses last time!"
Summer Lowell awkwardly smiled and turned to instruct Assistant Fletcher, who was busy organizing things nearby, "Go and see what’s going on for me."
Assistant Fletcher responded and hurriedly walked out.
Noah chuckled softly by the window, "I also noticed you’re quite popular. Over the weekend, I saw you having dinner with that Justin Huxley from the Huxley Family. It seemed like you two got along well. Is he pursuing you?"
Summer Lowell shook her head vigorously in fright, "Of course not, he’s a senior of mine. I treated him to dinner because he helped me handle a troublesome customer at our branch store."
"Trouble at the branch? Oh, I remember now. The person in charge emailed me about this last night. He did us a big favor indeed, and we should thank him."
Summer Lowell didn’t want to talk more about anything outside of work, so she chuckled and steered the conversation back to work.
Once she finally finished her conversation with him, Summer Lowell returned to her office with questions lingering in her mind.
Who sent the gift this time...
Summer Lowell pushed open the door and loudly asked Assistant Fletcher, who was organizing her files, "What’s this about a gift from the front desk? Who sent it? If it’s not a client, just toss it in the trash."
"It’s not a client, but are you sure you want to throw this gift away?" Assistant Fletcher pointed at the beautifully wrapped gift on the desk, looking troubled, "Along with the gift, there’s a note with just three words on it. Look at it before deciding whether to throw it away."
While speaking, Summer Lowell had already reached the table. She glanced down and saw the conspicuous note atop the gift box, as mentioned by Assistant Fletcher. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
On the note were three bold and powerful words: "Justin Huxley."
Assistant Fletcher leaned in carefully to ask, "Do you really want to throw this gift in the trash?"
"No need," Summer Lowell shook her head and picked up her phone from the table, dialing Justin Huxley’s number, "Senior, I can’t accept something without earning it. Why did you send me a gift?"
"You received the gift already?" Justin Huxley’s voice carried a hint of laughter, "That’s good. Have you opened it? I especially asked a friend to send it back from abroad. I remember you used to love this brand of chocolate, but unfortunately, it’s not so easily available these past couple of years."
Summer Lowell gestured to shoo Assistant Fletcher away, turned on the speaker, and tore open the outer packaging, her tone filled with nostalgia, "I know. I’ve been trying to buy it too, but couldn’t find it despite searching many cities and stores. It wasn’t even available online. I thought I’d never taste it again."
On the other end of the phone, Justin Huxley crossed his legs, stretching his feet on the corner of his desk, "I happened to hear a friend mention it by chance and remembered how much you loved it, so I specially asked him to get it for you. I’m glad you like it. Try it and see if it still has the same taste as before."
Summer Lowell broke off a piece and put it in her mouth, her eyes smiling, "It’s definitely the same taste. It’s really nostalgic."
Justin Huxley chuckled softly, "I’m glad you like it. Since you like it, my efforts weren’t in vain."
His voice carried an ambiguous, low tone, utterly different from before, now with an unmistakable touch of something unspeakable.
Just from listening, Summer Lowell felt a faint warmth in her ears. She patted her cheeks, changing the topic, "Let’s skip the formalities, Senior. You’ve put so much thought into it."
