Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 113: Is There Something Going On Between You and Justin Huxley?
Justin Huxley smiled apologetically, tapping the dial of his watch: "I’ve got something important tonight, so maybe another time. You should visit my home when you get the chance; you and Tina get along well, and we can all have dinner together."
Nina White, who only wanted to dine with him alone, nodded with disappointment, not accepting the invitation to dine at The Huxley Estate: "Alright then, let’s plan for another time."
She glanced at Summer Lowell, who had a faint smile on her face, feeling displeased, and left the store with a stern expression.
As the troublemaker finally left, the manager and employees quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Summer Lowell then looked at Justin Huxley teasingly: "What a pity, I was thinking of treating you to dinner for helping us out so much today, but you’re busy tonight. It’ll have to wait for another day."
Justin took a glance at the manager who also chuckled alongside, and the manager cleverly found an excuse to slip away.
Once the place was left with just them, Justin looked mischievously at Summer: "I turned down Nina White so tactfully earlier, all for the sake of this meal with you."
Knowing his real intention from the start, Summer playfully teased back with a light smile, then turned to look at the thick stack of unchecked documents, thought for a moment, and put them into her bag: "Let’s go then, I’ll treat you to dinner now."
"No rush, no rush," Justin waved his hand, "I came to the mall to take care of something, and I saw you were busy too. Let’s each finish what we need to do and then meet up at dinner time."
"That works too," Summer nodded, putting her things back, "Since there’s still some time before dinner, senior, message me when you’re done, and we’ll meet up."
"Why don’t I just come to this store to find you once I’m done?" Justin looked up at the big logo overhead, "This place is easy to find."
Summer patted the thick stack of documents beside her, smiling gently and shaking her head: "I came with a friend; I need to find her once I finish my work and accompany her shopping, so we’ll need to find a new place to meet."
"Sure."
After they made a temporary plan on how to reconnect later, Justin left the store.
A while later, Vivian Sullivan arrived with drinks, fashionably late, placing the drinks she bought for the other staff aside for them to grab themselves.
She then pulled Summer Lowell aside: "When I was on my way here, I overheard some passersby mentioning an argument here. What happened?"
Summer tossed a straw into her cup and took a large sip, looking helpless: "Someone was deliberately causing trouble, but it’s been resolved. No big deal."
"Is your line of work always this challenging? Just stepping out to handle documents, and there’s trouble?" Vivian took a sip of her drink, "But from the look on your face, you’re used to people causing trouble."
"Pretty much, I can more or less guess who’s behind it today."
Summer set her drink aside and got up to enter the employee break room.
Vivian followed her in: "Have you offended someone? It seems like you’re becoming indifferent to it all."
With documents still piled on the table unfinished, a frustrated Summer gathered them into her bag, then hooked her arm through Vivian’s: "Let’s go out and have some fun."
"But you haven’t finished all these documents, I don’t mind waiting. We’ve got plenty of time, finish your work first, and we can go out afterward."
Vivian sat on the sofa, patting the empty spot beside her: "You look tired, why don’t you sit down, and I’ll give you a massage? You know how good my skills are."
"It’s not physical fatigue, just mental exhaustion. I have no energy to organize these documents. Let’s go out for a walk; senior helped diffuse things for me earlier, and I promised to treat him to dinner in gratitude. You should join us."
Summer pulled Vivian off the sofa, gently pushing her toward the door, and once outside, Vivian wrapped her arm around Summer’s shoulder from behind: "Honestly, the senior you mentioned, is he the hero who’s saved you several times before?"
Not getting an immediate reply from Summer, Vivian smiled knowingly: "I knew it, only he could make you show that expression when mentioned. I think there’s quite a spark between you two."
Summer laughed and nudged her aside: "You’re always reading too much into things. Where should we shop first? We’ll need to be quick so we don’t keep him waiting."
"No worries, but should I leave early? You two rarely get to have dinner together; I might spoil the atmosphere if I’m there."
"Stop it, there’s nothing between me and the senior. Don’t make it sound so ambiguous; it’ll make me too embarrassed to see him again."
"Alright, alright, haha."
...
Nina White huffily took the elevator to the parking garage, got into the passenger seat, and a similarly unhappy Tina Huxley in the driver’s seat asked, "You’re back?"
"Yeah, your brother swooped in like a hero; I couldn’t embarrass him, could I?" Nina threw her phone onto the console irritably, "Tina, don’t you think your brother might be interested in Summer Lowell?"
Tina responded with a question instead: "Are you interested in my brother?"
"Interest isn’t the word—I just find him unique, someone I haven’t encountered before. You haven’t answered me; why does Summer irritate me so much? Everyone’s always defending her!"
Tina stayed silent for a moment before explaining: "My brother and Summer met while studying abroad. As for their relationship, I’m not sure; he hasn’t shared much with me."
After speaking, Tina noticed Nina still looked displeased and reached over to tug her sleeve: "Thanks for being there today, how about I treat you to dinner tonight?"
"I’m on a diet, not eating," Nina grumbled, pulling the seatbelt across and clicking it in place, "If you insist on taking me out, let’s go to that new all-vegan restaurant at the Bund."
"Alright, your choice, whatever you want to eat, it’s on me." Tina smiled insincerely and drove out of the parking garage.
On the road, something occurred to Nina, and she turned to ask Tina: "Does your brother know you want to arrange a marriage with Maxim Sinclair? Why isn’t he helping you but helping Summer instead?"
"I haven’t had the chance to tell him; once I do, he’ll naturally help me." Tina casually lied, brushing off the question.
"Don’t forget to tell him then," Nina reminded, unable to resist.
