Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 117: The Confession Reaches Maxim Sinclair’s Ears
After finally finishing the meal, which felt more exhausting than attending a business gathering, Summer Lowell used the excuse of dropping off her assistant to hastily say goodbye to Justin Huxley.
As the car turned the corner, Assistant Fletcher glanced at Justin Huxley still standing outside the restaurant from the rearview mirror, then turned to observe Summer Lowell’s expression.
There was no joy on Summer Lowell’s face from being confessed to; instead, it was half-worried and half-irritated.
Assistant Fletcher thought for a moment but didn’t dare to voice any opinion.
After a while, at the next red light, Summer tugged at the assistant’s sleeve: "What do you think of that Mr. Huxley from before?"
"I think he’s quite nice. He looks handsome, speaks politely and elegantly, and seems to match you well." Assistant Fletcher nodded earnestly as he spoke.
Summer felt even more irritated: "Forget it, just ignore my question."
"Oh, okay." Feeling unwanted, Assistant Fletcher obediently turned his head, leaning against the seat, staring out the window in a daze.
After dropping off the assistant, Summer asked the driver to take her home.
Inside the room, Vivian Sullivan, who was off-duty, was having dinner with an iPad at her side, seemingly reviewing some papers.
Seeing Summer come in, Vivian hurriedly waved her over: "Working overtime again until this hour? Just in time, I’ve just cooked a big pot of corn and rib soup, why don’t you have a bowl with me?"
Summer, who hadn’t eaten well during dinner and felt hungry, served herself a bowl of soup, sat at the table, sipping it with low spirits.
Focused on her papers, Vivian soon noticed something was wrong: "Babe, what’s up? Why is your bowl so empty, all soup and water? Don’t you love corn and ribs?"
"I’m fine with just this," Summer replied weakly, sipping another spoonful of soup, "It’s rare not to be on duty, why aren’t you sleeping early?"
Realizing something was indeed off, Vivian put down her chopsticks, propped her left hand on the table, stood up, and lifted Summer’s chin with her right hand: "Spill it, what’s wrong? Did the boss scold you? Or did a client give you a hard time? It shouldn’t be this expression, you look both worried and annoyed, what happened?"
Completely losing her appetite, Summer placed the spoon back into the bowl, pushing it aside, and said in a dejected tone: "Do you remember Justin Huxley, the guy I told you about?"
"Of course I do, there’s definitely something wrong with you," Vivian looked at her with disbelief, "Did you forget that we just had dinner with him a few days ago?"
"Oh, right, you were there last time too when we had dinner with him; almost forgot about that." Summer knocked her forehead in frustration, "I ran into him after work tonight and had dinner with him again. During the meal, he actually confessed to me, but I turned him down, and that’s what’s been bothering me."
"Seriously?" Vivian’s eyes widened in surprise, "Isn’t that great? The person you liked in your youth now confesses to you, shouldn’t you be over the moon?"
Vivian sat back, continuing with her meal, teasing Summer as she ate: "Are you so happy that it feels unreal, causing this reaction?"
"Not at all." Summer covered her face with her hands, her arms resting on the table in silence.
Startled by her response, Vivian couldn’t help but poke Summer’s arm: "Isn’t this something to be happy about? What’s going on?"
After a while, Summer finally removed her hands and looked at Vivian with a frustrated expression: "You’re right, it is good fortune when the one admired in youth comes back to confess, but only if that youthful admiration hasn’t waned."
Upon hearing this, Vivian immediately understood her meaning: "Oh, so you’re not into your Senior Huxley anymore! No wonder his confession leaves you troubled."
Summer picked up her bowl and finished the soup in one go, looking at Vivian with a bitter expression: "What do you think I should do now?"
Vivian munched the meat clean off a bone, then placed it on a small plate beside her, speaking naturally: "What’s so hard about it? If someone confesses and you’re not interested, just turn them down."
While it seemed simple, Summer felt uneasy recalling Justin’s deep and affectionate words at dinner: "But I’m afraid he won’t give up. He said not to rush my answer and give him a chance to fight for it."
Vivian shook her head with a soft sigh: "Who would’ve thought there’d be someone as passionate as Senior Huxley. Tsk tsk, Summer, your luck in love is amazing! Well, since that’s the case, why not give him a chance? And see if you two have potential together. Who knows, it might be destiny brought by the heavens. Missing it would be such a waste!"
With no other solutions, Summer thought about it and found Vivian’s suggestion slightly reasonable.
So, is this what I should do?
Forget it; as the saying goes, ’the ship will naturally straighten when it reaches the bridge.’
No use worrying here pointlessly.
Since Tina Huxley and he are siblings, she’s probably spoken about me to him. Even if she hasn’t before, she’ll certainly mention it once she knows he’s pursuing me.
Or perhaps, if Justin doesn’t give up after a while, and I develop a bit of feeling, I’ll just lay everything bare to him.
Seeing her expressions change and finally settle on understanding, Vivian gave a knowing smile: "So, you’ve figured it out?"
"I’ve figured it out!" Summer nodded honestly, "Let’s give it a try. Maybe after some time together, I’ll rediscover the feelings of my old crush."
"That’s great, having a chance to be with your teenage crush is quite rare in today’s society."
"It’s not certain yet, we’ll see." Summer smiled bashfully, getting up to dish herself a few ribs.
"Why do you say it’s uncertain?" Vivian shook her head in disagreement, "Senior Huxley has already confessed, waiting for your nod. The start is drawn; now it awaits your acceptance."
"You’re the logical one."
The next day.
As promised, Justin Huxley launched a strong pursuit for Summer Lowell the day after his confession.
Soon enough, everyone at Stellart knew that Justin Huxley from the Huxley Family was chasing their design director, Summer Lowell.
Maxim Sinclair also received word from his assistant that Justin Huxley was pursuing Summer.
Sinclair Group.
Maxim placed his golf club down, grabbed the nearby water bottle, twisted it open, and drank down half of it in one go, then looked at the anxious Assistant Collins beside him: "Is the report accurate?"
"Confirmed accurate, President Sinclair." Assistant Collins nervously nodded.
"Is Justin Huxley tired of living?"
