Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 33: Re-selecting Project Team Members
"Are you crazy? I think you’re under too much pressure and have gone mad!"
Linda naturally didn’t dare admit that she had private dealings with people from the Sinclair Group. She feigned annoyance and turned to leave.
Assistant Fletcher, who came face-to-face with her, noticed her strange expression. When he reached Summer Lowell’s side, he couldn’t help but ask, "What’s up with Linda? Why does she look like that?"
"She’s feeling guilty, don’t mind her. Also, try not to let her into the Four Seasons project team; I’m afraid she might backstab us later," Summer Lowell whispered with a serious face to Assistant Fletcher.
"Understood, Director Lowell." Assistant Fletcher nodded, took out his phone, and noted this down in a memo.
The two benefits Summer mentioned during the meeting were evidently effective, as just an hour after the meeting ended, several groups of designers came to her asking for application forms.
Assistant Fletcher stood beside her, cheerfully organizing files. "Director Lowell, if things continue at this pace..."
Before she could finish, Summer gave her a piercing look, forcing her to swallow the rest of the sentence. "Shut up, don’t jinx it."
"Got it." Assistant Fletcher mimed zipping her lips and quietly continued her work without further comment.
Two days later, the new members of the Four Seasons project team were finally finalized.
Summer looked at the freshly prepared list and personally went upstairs to invite Noah down to boost team morale.
After Noah sincerely delivered a short speech, he reiterated the promises Summer had previously made.
With his endorsement, the designers who were initially doubtful now felt assured.
Noah didn’t stay long. After playing the mascot, he quickly went back upstairs to continue his meeting.
Summer closed the door to the Four Seasons project area with a serious face and looked at the newly selected designers, "President Norris has already emphasized that the doubled quarterly bonus and the opportunity for funded study in Freland are real; you can rest assured."
Hearing this, everyone burst into laughter, but soon quieted down when they noticed Summer’s expression was serious.
"Now, let’s talk about the tough stuff. You must have heard about the Sinclair Group making a big deal of poaching designers from various companies; they’ve already taken two from us."
Just then, Assistant Fletcher entered with a stack of files, followed by personnel from the HR and Legal departments.
Summer continued, "To prevent our designers from being poached again, you’ll need to sign another contract with the company. This contract is only valid for two quarters, meaning it naturally terminates when the Four Seasons project ends."
The designers who didn’t understand her intentions took the contract documents from Assistant Fletcher’s hands and opened them curiously.
"You can take a closer look. Before you sign, you still have the chance to back out of this project team. In other words, once you sign, you must stay in this team and not consider jumping ship."
Tempted by the Freland study opportunity, Ming Yue, who rejoined the project team on a renewed whim, understood what Summer meant after flipping through the document.
It was at this moment that she realized the real reason for the two-day delay in finalizing the members of the Four Seasons project team: this contract had not yet been revised.
With this contract in place, Summer no longer feared the Sinclair Group’s poaching tactics.
Determined to secure the Freland study slot, Ming Yue quickly skimmed through the contract to ensure it wouldn’t harm her interests before signing it promptly.
Seeing her decisiveness, a smile flashed in Summer’s eyes. "Looks like Ming Yue is quite straightforward!"
Ming Yue handed the contract to Assistant Fletcher, replying with a bright smile, "What’s there to hesitate about? I wasn’t planning to leave Stellart anyway. Besides, with Director Lowell securing such substantial benefits like funded study for us, I have even less reason to leave."
Seeing the previously outspoken Ming Yue readily sign the contract, the other designers quickly followed suit.
Seeing things go so smoothly, Summer’s smile became more genuine, "To celebrate the reformation of the project team, dinner’s on me tonight; everyone can order whatever you like."
"Let’s not go out," Ming Yue shook her head gently, "Let’s order some food to eat at the company. We don’t have much time left for our project team. We need to catch up quickly; the first bid is due mid-next month."
"I was thinking the same," Summer nodded, then turned and instructed Assistant Fletcher, who was collecting the contracts, "Later, tally up what everyone wants to eat and have it delivered to the company. We’ll have the energy to work after eating, and probably need to work overtime tonight."
"Overtime is common in our industry!" Claire Dalton, another designer interested in the study spot, didn’t want to fall behind Ming Yue and also began to warm up to Summer, "Some projects have been nonstop overtime from start to finish, I’m used to it."
As the two most skilled designers began to get chummy with Summer, the other designers followed suit, chatting with her one after the other.
Summer chatted with them with a bright smile, feeling much more confident about outdoing the Sinclair Group.
The situation wasn’t so dire after all; there’s always a way to turn things around.
...
Sinclair Group, top floor, CEO’s office.
Rachel Nash knocked and entered, placing a document in front of him, "President Sinclair, please review this. If there are no objections, I’ll proceed as planned."
Maxim Sinclair put down what he was holding, took the document, and carefully reviewed it, signing his name in the lower corner after a moment.
After signing, he didn’t immediately return it to her but brought up another topic, "The two designers we poached from Stellart, have they been settled in?"
"They have been. President Sinclair, do you have any other instructions regarding them?"
"Their skills are just average. Just follow the promised arrangements; there’s no need for special treatment."
"Understood," Rachel Nash nodded, "Everything is in line with previous commitments, with no special treatment."
"Hmm," Maxim Sinclair nodded, absentmindedly rubbing the pen in his hand for a while before asking, "About Stellart... we poached the two most important designers from their project team; is their project doomed now?"
"No," Rachel Nash shook her head with a hint of regret, "I asked a friend to find out, and it seems that while the project was temporarily halted, they haven’t given up. They’ve reorganized and are selecting new personnel to continue."
"Selecting new people? Even with the Sinclair Group as competition, people still dare to join that project? They’re overestimating themselves," Maxim Sinclair sneered.
