Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Targeted by Malicious People

Noah took a wrist corsage from a nearby waiter’s tray, intending to help Summer Lowell tie it to her wrist.

Seeing this, Summer quickly reached out to take it: "President Norris, I can do it myself."

"Then go ahead and put it on yourself."

Noah withdrew his hand and led her to the other side, taking a pen to sign on the visitor list.

After signing, Summer, having tied the wrist corsage, took his arm again and asked in a low voice as they walked, "You mentioned in the car earlier that this is a very formal dinner. Why do female guests need to wear wrist corsages?"

"It’s a personal habit of the host. I heard he often comes up with unique little things. Everyone’s doing it, so we don’t need to be special," Noah quickly replied and then gently patted the back of Summer’s hand. "Look, that woman walking towards you is a famous jeweler from Porta Azure, everyone calls her Mrs. Collins."

As they spoke, the two had already walked up to Mrs. Collins.

Noah was the first to extend his hand and step forward: "Mrs. Collins, long time no see. When did you return from Veridia?"

The beautiful lady in the black dress across from them gave a gentle smile and reached out to shake hands. "I arrived in Stellarion last night. And you? Last time I went to Leonia, I heard you had come to develop domestically."

"Yes, Abe asked me to come over and develop the branch company in the country."

Mrs. Collins smiled, "The domestic market is quite good too. With you overseeing it personally, I imagine your branch will soon get on track."

Just then, a waiter with a tray passed by, and Summer took two glasses of wine from the tray, handing one to Noah.

Noah raised his glass towards Mrs. Collins, "Mrs. Collins, it’s a rare opportunity to meet in the country, I toast to you."

Mrs. Collins sipped her drink with a smile and finally set her gaze on Summer, asking with a hint of curiosity, "And this lovely young lady is..."

"Oh, this is Summer Lowell, the Design Director of our Stellart Branch. I specifically brought her back from Leonia," Noah slightly turned to introduce Summer to Mrs. Collins, discreetly elevating her status.

"It’s rare to see such a young Design Director, and to earn such high praise from Noah," Mrs. Collins raised her glass to Summer. "I suppose Director Lowell is also quite talented."

Summer quickly raised her glass modestly, "Not at all, it’s President Norris who praises me."

"Someone Noah appreciates is indeed humble, like himself," Mrs. Collins laughed and then suddenly waved to someone in the distance, apologizing to the two of them, "I have something to attend to over there, excuse me."

After speaking, Mrs. Collins nodded slightly and then left.

Once she had walked away, Noah continued moving forward with Summer, introducing her earlier companio, Mrs. Collins: "Her story is even more extraordinary than yours. Originally from a mechanical engineering background, she came to Porta Azure by chance, entered the jewelry industry, and spent over ten years to reach her current position. Her abilities are immense, and later I’ll find an opportunity for you to exchange contacts with her."

Similar scenes have happened countless times, and Summer has long been accustomed to it, nodding deftly, "Understood, I will look for opportunities to integrate into her social circle, which will be beneficial for our company’s future development."

"Smart as always," Noah clinked his glass with hers, "Tonight’s dinner is grand, and I’ll introduce you to more big shots later. I’m giving you the opportunity. From there, it’s up to you to seize it."

Summer took a deep breath in cooperation, "For the company, I’ll be sure to make the most of it."

Although he planned to introduce her to various bigwigs, Noah couldn’t keep Summer by his side throughout the event.

Once again, when Noah was called away for a conversation in a private room, Summer found herself alone, holding a glass of wine, lifting her gown and wandering in search of a quiet place to relax.

However, in her focus on finding a spot, Summer failed to notice that many eyes were already on her the moment she followed Noah into the banquet.

The reason was simple.

The Sinclair Family was the top wealthy family locally, especially with Sinclair Group producing someone as young, handsome, and wealthy as Maxim Sinclair.

With multiple accolades, Maxim Sinclair might not be trending online daily, but he remains a permanent fixture in the local high-society scene.

A while ago, when Sinclair Group openly poached many rising stars in jewelry design at high prices, it naturally couldn’t escape the notice of those who closely monitored his every move from the shadows.

Sinclair Group’s high-priced poaching was somewhat inconsistent with their usual business practices, arousing curiosity about what lay behind the scenes.

With further digging, those with their ear to the ground discovered that the true target of Sinclair Group’s actions was actually Stellart.

Stellart had been in the area for only a few years, and while there were certain project conflicts with Sinclair Group, the latter’s massive scale and diverse business interests meant that if there were conflicts of interest, they extended to numerous other companies.

But for Sinclair Group to take such drastic actions, there had to be more to the story.

Astute minds continued to dig deeper along this line and soon uncovered that Summer Lowell, the current Design Director of Stellart Branch, used to work as a secretary for Maxim Sinclair.

It was said that after Summer resigned from Sinclair Group, three major projects related to jewelry design were directly canceled.

The projects involved many people, and even if Maxim Sinclair wanted to keep it under wraps, it would have been impossible to cover every detail.

Hence, those keen on investigating the matter soon realized what this so-called secretary might have been involved in back then.

This realization stirred thoughts among those wishing to connect with Maxim Sinclair but found themselves without a way in. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Removing Summer, this thorn in the side, for Maxim Sinclair, seemed the perfect gesture of allegiance.

Currently, Summer was entirely unaware of the danger close by.

The dinner was hosted on a particularly large estate, with numerous guests in attendance. Summer wandered for a long time before finding a secluded spot.

It was a long corridor outside the side building of the estate, positioned in a drafty spot with winds howling through, making it quite chilly on an early spring evening. Few guests came here, especially female guests donned in flimsy evening gowns.

Luckily, Summer had the foresight to bring a shawl along, which came in handy at this location.

"Ah, it’s much more comfortable here!"

Summer murmured to herself, wrapping the shawl tightly as she leaned against a round corridor pillar for a rest.

Just then, a voice with clear ill intention sounded from behind her.

"Oh, who do we have here?"

Curious, Summer turned around at the sound, only to see four or five well-dressed men and women standing nearby, watching her.
