Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 60: Why Don’t You Believe Me
"How I am doing is none of President Sinclair’s concern."
Summer Lowell struggled to turn her head away, pointing once more towards the door, "Please leave, President Sinclair. A forced melon won’t be sweet. If you keep coming to find me again and again, it’s easy for me to misunderstand that you still have feelings for me."
"You’re overthinking," Maxim Sinclair flatly denied any lingering feelings for her, "I’m just kindly reminding you, after all, you were once my woman. If this gets out, it might affect my reputation."
"I appreciate your kindness, but please leave."
Summer looked away, not even glancing at him.
Unwavering, Maxim Sinclair released his grip on her chin, "Summer, I mentioned before, I already found out who the mastermind behind Sheryl’s leaked documents is. Do you want to know?"
The mastermind?
How could Summer not want to know!
She immediately turned her face back, staring intently at Maxim Sinclair, hesitating for a moment before saying, "What’s the price for you to tell me?"
"Am I that stingy in your eyes?"
Maxim Sinclair rubbed his chin with one hand, his gaze ambiguous, "I remember when you were my secretary, I didn’t treat you poorly. What gave you the impression that I’m stingy?"
Not wanting to argue about the past, Summer raised her hand to cut him off, "Just tell me, under what conditions will you tell me who was behind Sheryl leaking the Moonlight design documents?"
"My terms are simple," Maxim Sinclair revealed a faint smile, "Stay away from that so-called good senior of yours."
"Why?"
Summer was full of rejection, "What do you mean ’stay away’?"
"You don’t have to go overboard, just decline all his invitations, don’t meet him, and have no contact with him in private."
After finishing, Maxim Sinclair paused to think for a moment, ensuring he hadn’t missed anything before adding, "That’s about it, if I think of anything else, I’ll let you know later."
Summer bit her lip, resisting the urge to scold him, "Don’t you think you’re being too much? If you don’t have any evidence and are just bluffing, then please leave quickly."
With that, Summer reached out and pulled open the door.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" Maxim Sinclair kicked the door closed again, "My people have already found out who the mastermind is, and as for the evidence, it’s more or less collected."
Stopping here, Maxim Sinclair deliberately paused, eyeing Summer teasingly, "I’ve also sent someone to track Sheryl’s whereabouts. By then, I’ll have both witness and evidence to clear your name."
Seeing the sincerity in his tone, Summer reluctantly showed a hint of unease, "I really don’t want to trouble you with this. I just need to know who’s manipulating everything. I’ll handle the rest myself."
"Given our relationship, do you really have to be so stand-offish?" Maxim Sinclair shook his head disapprovingly, "Just comply with my conditions, and I’ll take care of clearing your name."
Seeing his stubbornness, frustration rose in Summer’s heart, "What exactly has Justin Huxley done to offend you? Why do you have to target him like this?"
Maxim Sinclair showed displeasure again, questioning back, "What’s so great about Justin Huxley that makes you defend him like this?"
"He helped me."
Summer looked at Maxim Sinclair with righteous conviction, "Our past grievances shouldn’t pull in unrelated people. Maxim Sinclair, I know you hate me, but Justin is my benefactor. Please spare him, will you?"
Seeing Summer’s protective stance, Maxim Sinclair was involuntarily amused, "I never realized you were so selfless!"
Exhausted from a long day, not having the strength to spar with him, Summer silently sighed, her voice hoarse, "Maxim Sinclair, I’m begging you, let’s end this. What if I apologize to you online? Will that do?"
Maxim Sinclair’s face darkened after being misunderstood while kindly reminding her, "You know that’s not what I mean."
"I don’t know what you mean," Summer threw the spray in her palm towards the distance, waving her hand in exhaustion, "Nor do I want to know. I only beg you to leave me alone! If my presence in Stellarion bothers you, say it, and I’ll resign immediately and disappear forever."
Maxim Sinclair observed Summer’s slightly distressed expression, feeling helpless for the first time in his life.
After hesitating, he went forward and firmly grasped her shoulders, "Summer, can’t you calm down a bit?"
"Perhaps you’re the one who needs to calm down, Maxim," Summer sneered, "Are your inexplicable antics amusing? Why not be straightforward about what you really want?"
"I don’t want anything from you," Maxim Sinclair explained weakly, "I only wanted to warn you, Justin Huxley is very cunning, you’re no match for him. He’s taking advantage of you now!"
"Enough," Summer shook off his hands with difficulty, slowly retreating, and looked at him coldly, "President Sinclair, I don’t know what grudges you hold against Justin. But let me be clear, don’t think of using me against him. I’ll never let that happen!"
Head throbbing with anger, Maxim Sinclair grabbed her wrist tightly, "You’re truly foolish. Being used and still speaking up for him. Sooner or later, you’ll regret it!"
"Whether I cry or not is my business; it doesn’t concern you, President Sinclair!"
Unable to bear it anymore, Summer stepped forward and opened the door again, shoving Maxim Sinclair, who was still trying to explain, out.
Staring at the closed door before him, Maxim Sinclair exhaled heavily, "You would rather trust him than trust me?"
It was only now he realized that since Summer returned to the country, his actions had indeed been over the top.
Frankly, Summer’s current disbelief was rooted in his own oppressive behavior towards her.
Nevertheless, he couldn’t just stand by and watch Summer be duped by Justin Huxley.
He had to devise a plan to open Summer’s eyes, clouded by her youthful fantasies.
"Justin Huxley, just you wait, I won’t let you succeed."
In the central apartment.
Justin Huxley poured himself a glass of wine, holding the glass and savoring its aroma.
Not far away, a man sitting at the table furiously typing on a laptop paused, got up, and approached, "Mr. Huxley, Kim just sent a message saying Maxim Sinclair just went to the hotel where Summer is staying, and entered her room."
"Entered the room?" Justin Huxley said without surprise, his eyes never leaving the wine glass in his hand, "How long was he in her room?"
"From the time he entered until he was seen again at the hotel entrance, it was a total of thirty-five minutes."
"He stayed that long, huh?"
Justin Huxley swirled the wine glass in his hand, "It seems Maxim Sinclair cares a lot about Summer!"
