Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 63: Awkward Small Talk in Mutual Flattery
The staff opened the door after speaking, and Summer Lowell was the first to enter. She carefully placed the safe she was carrying onto the wooden table in the center of the room.
Assistant Fletcher followed closely behind, bent down to look at the wooden table, and asked worriedly: "I don’t think this table is very sturdy. Maybe we should put the safe on the sofa, just to be safe."
The staff member who had not yet left was adjusting the monitoring system on the wall and couldn’t help but turn back after hearing Assistant Fletcher’s words: "Don’t worry, this table is very strong."
"Even if the table is sturdy," Assistant Fletcher still looked worried and not at all embarrassed by the staff’s contradiction. "I’m still worried that one of us might accidentally knock the safe to the ground."
The staff member showed a hint of exasperation, turned his head, and continued adjusting the camera.
After ensuring the camera was functioning properly, the staff handed a document with competition precautions to Summer Lowell: "Here are some things to pay attention to for this competition. Please take a look, and if there are no problems, sign here. There are two copies, one for you to keep, and one for me to take."
Summer Lowell took the pen, carefully reviewed the precautions multiple times before signing her name on it.
The staff collected one of the documents and pointed at the camera on the wall: "This camera is synchronized online 24/7. With it, the safety of the entries can be ensured."
"Synchronized online," Summer Lowell frowned slightly, "That also means hackers could hack into this camera through the internet?"
"You’re overthinking it. This competition has dedicated technical staff, and what you’re worried about won’t happen."
Realizing she might have been overly cautious, Summer Lowell smiled sheepishly: "I was just speaking offhand, no other intention."
"No problem," the staff replied, shaking his head, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the staff outside. I wish everyone success in the competition."
After speaking, the counterpart left the room.
Assistant Fletcher looked at the safe still on the wooden table, persistently asking Summer Lowell again: "How about we put the safe on the sofa instead?"
"No need, just leave it there," Summer Lowell stared at the camera on the wall for a moment and said, "The angle on the table is just right."
"Alright.
"Everyone, don’t just stand at the door."
Summer Lowell took off her coat and signaled the designer who came along to sit down: "There’s still some time before the competition starts, let’s sit down and rest for a while."
Assistant Fletcher opened the suitcase he brought along, took out Summer Lowell’s water cup, and handed it over: "Have some water before the competition starts."
Summer Lowell took the cup but didn’t drink. Instead, she walked to the door, wanting to check the situation outside.
As a result, she just opened the door and met the eyes of Tina Huxley, who was coming out from the room across.
Both paused for a moment, then amicably walked towards each other with smiles.
"President Huxley, are you also here for the competition?" Summer Lowell was the first to extend her hand.
Tina Huxley also extended her hand for a handshake: "Director Lowell, what a coincidence, I just saw Stellart on the list and turned around to see you."
"Indeed quite a coincidence," Summer Lowell replied with a "sincere" smile honed from social engagements with Noah, and began exchanging pleasantries with Tina Huxley.
"I didn’t expect President Huxley also has a jewelry design company."
Tina Huxley blinked and replied with a smile, "You might not know, but I just recently acquired a studio that was about to run out of funding. Coincidentally, that studio is participating in this jewelry design competition. Since it’s my first major project after the acquisition, I had to come and supervise."
"I see," Summer Lowell nodded in realization and then sighed, "But with President Huxley here, my already scarce confidence has taken a hit."
Tina Huxley laughed gracefully: "You really know how to flatter me. I am just an amateur compared to a professional like Director Lowell."
"Not at all, President Huxley is too kind."
Summer Lowell shook her head with a smile, then responded with a few more compliments to Tina Huxley.
The two endured their inner aversions, flattering each other awkwardly for nearly ten minutes.
In the room, Assistant Fletcher was the first to notice Summer Lowell’s mood, using an excuse to pull her out of the awkward atmosphere.
After closing the door, Assistant Fletcher casually asked, "Isn’t she the second daughter of the Huxley Family’s second household? What’s she doing at a competition site like this?"
Summer Lowell took a long gulp of water and waved her hand: "Her personal interests are none of our business."
"Interests? Then she’s not a significant threat to us," Assistant Fletcher muttered to herself.
Summer Lowell looked at her with a complex expression, and Assistant Fletcher, not understanding, asked: "What’s wrong?"
"Nothing," Summer Lowell shook her head lightly, "just hoping your mouth would bring better luck."
"Director Lowell, you’re such a joker."
The organizers had arranged the contestants’ rest area in the first corridor on the east side of the second floor. In contrast, the west side’s first corridor was for important guests invited by the organizers.
Maxim Sinclair was in the row of important guests.
Outside on the terrace, Assistant Collins hung up the phone and walked inside, approaching Maxim Sinclair by the sofa: "President Sinclair, I just got the news that Miss Tina is also participating in this competition."
Leaning on the sofa with his eyes closed, Maxim Sinclair opened his eyes when he heard the news: "Other than her, is anyone else from the Huxley Family here?"
"Only Miss Tina. Mr. Justin hasn’t come."
Maxim Sinclair tapped his finger on his knee and then asked: "Do you think Tina will make things difficult for Summer Lowell today?"
Assistant Collins hesitated and then nodded slightly: "Hard to say, maybe..."
"Do you think I should step in to help her today?"
Assistant Collins was stumped by the question and nervously replied after a long pause: "The competition is starting in about ten minutes. I’ve seen contestants across the hall starting to enter one after another. If you have any plans, President Sinclair, there’s still time for me to implement them."
After this, silence fell on Maxim Sinclair.
Assistant Collins waited patiently, and after a while, Maxim Sinclair finally spoke slowly: "Why should I help her? She wouldn’t appreciate it even if I did."
"I’ve heard that Miss Lowell has been staying up late every day to work on her two projects. She seems much thinner than last time."
"That’s her own doing, bringing it upon herself!" Maxim Sinclair scoffed coldly, "I’ve offered her chances multiple times, and she wouldn’t take them. She deserves to be exhausted."
Seeing his expression darkening with anger, Assistant Collins quickly kept quiet, not daring to say more. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
After waiting for a while, Maxim Sinclair added: "Watch Tina. It’s best if she participates in the competition properly. But if she dares to pull any tricks, make sure to keep evidence for me."
