Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 62: Preparing for the Design Competition
Seeing her come in, the busy designers looked up and greeted, "Director Lowell is here."
Summer Lowell smiled and nodded, walked to the side, picked up the design sketches on the table, and examined them carefully.
The deputy leader of the "Charming Allure" project group came over, "Director Lowell, have you shown the designs to President Norris?"
"President Norris has seen them," Summer carefully put away the design sketches, then walked to the display case in the center of the office area, looking at the gemstone brooch on the velvet pad, "Everyone needs to believe in themselves, and President Norris has a lot of confidence in our design works this time."
A young designer who hadn’t been in the department long asked with a smile, "And what about you, Director Lowell? Do you think we can bring back a major prize from this competition?"
As soon as he finished speaking, another designer next to him scolded, "Don’t tempt the director to jinx it!"
Summer chuckled, "You’re right, I dare not jinx it, but I do believe in you all."
Hearing her answer, several other designers whispered small cheers.
Summer then reminded everyone about the things to be aware of in the competition, and only then did she leave.
The next day, Summer rose early and personally brought the competition entry "Charming Allure," boarded a company-prepared car, and headed to the Jewelry Park in the south of the city to participate in the jewelry design contest.
The theme of this jewelry design competition was pearls, and Stellart’s entry, "Charming Allure," was primarily composed of pearls with various colored gems set around it as embellishments. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
This brooch design was personally handled by Summer, and it was due to this design that some members of the design department who were not convinced by her began to look at her with new eyes.
Summer sat comfortably in the back seat, her right hand gently stroking the safe holding the entry, an inexplicable emotion welled up in her heart.
If they won this time, it would shut up those at headquarters who were constantly clamoring to replace her.
In this way, the days ahead would be a bit easier for her.
Donnan District, Jewelry Park.
Outside the car window, the voices of the crowd surged, and Assistant Fletcher in the front passenger seat turned to the back and spoke to Summer, who was lost in thought, "Director Lowell, there are so many people here for the competition today!"
"It’s mostly spectators," Just as she was speaking, Summer suddenly saw a few particularly familiar faces, her heart trembled, she took out the official list of entries and carefully confirmed it before looking up at Assistant Fletcher in the front passenger seat, "Send a message to the organizers now, ask them for a final attendance list for this competition."
"Alright."
After sending the message, Assistant Fletcher couldn’t hold back her curiosity, "What happened, Director Lowell?"
"It seems like I saw someone who shouldn’t be here," Summer’s fingers tightly gripped the handle of the safe, her eyes fixed on those familiar faces in the distance, "Has the list come in yet?"
"Not yet," Assistant Fletcher shook her head, "The message was sent, but they said to wait a moment, they’ll send the list over soon."
As soon as she finished speaking, her phone dinged with a new message.
"It’s here, the organizers sent the invitation list."
"Give me the phone," Summer leaned forward and reached out for the phone from Assistant Fletcher, "I’ll look at it myself."
Confused, Assistant Fletcher opened the list and handed the phone to Summer in the back seat.
Summer pinched her fingers together, enlarged the screen, and after scrolling twice, she saw the name she least wanted to see.
Seeing her expression was off, Assistant Fletcher cautiously asked, "Director Lowell, is there an issue with the list?"
"I didn’t expect," Summer handed back the phone, her expression not pleasant as she looked out the window, "that someone from Sinclair Group would also be here."
"This..." Assistant Fletcher was taken aback, still not quite understanding why Summer was troubled, "Sinclair Group’s jewelry design department is one of the top in the country, and this competition is a major bi-annual event, it wouldn’t be surprising for Sinclair to show up."
Summer shook her head lightly, stayed silent for a while, then said, "It’s not surprising for Sinclair Group to be here, but for Maxim Sinclair to appear ... that’s what’s odd."
In the past, for such small matters, he would never participate personally.
Summer was vaguely worried, unsure if today’s competition would proceed smoothly.
Still not understanding her concern, Assistant Fletcher thought for a moment and suggested, "Shall we call President Norris now? Maybe have him come over, so if anything happens, he can handle it."
"We can’t call him," Summer’s fingers tapped irritably on the safe, "Today he has a nearly three-hour quarterly meeting with the headquarters, better not disturb him."
"But," Assistant Fletcher pointed out the window, "if Sinclair Group really plans to pull some tricks behind the scenes as you suspect... it could affect your standing in the company."
Summer knew this all too well.
"Now that we’re here, we can only deal with things as they come," Summer said, resigning herself, "Alright, being afraid won’t help, let’s get out."
After saying this, Summer looked at Assistant Fletcher with a complex expression and added, "Maybe I’m just overthinking it, maybe Maxim Sinclair is just here out of boredom, without any ulterior motives."
Summer gave herself a strong pep talk before opening the door and getting out of the car.
As soon as she entered the venue, she ran into Maxim Sinclair who was being surrounded by a group of people.
At a glance, Summer noticed that most of them were participants in the competition.
Most amusingly, several of their companies had recently had valuable staff poached by Maxim Sinclair.
Not long after, they were back to fawning over him.
No wonder Maxim Sinclair could be so brazen usually, he was truly the kingpin around here.
Summer secretly despised him and then quietly led her team past him from behind.
She didn’t realize that the moment she stepped into the venue, she had already caught his attention.
Maxim Sinclair glanced backwards and gave Assistant Collins a look.
Understanding instantly, Assistant Collins stepped forward and smiled at the group, "Ladies and gentlemen, I’m sorry, but President Sinclair has some important matters to attend to, we’ll chat later."
Upon hearing this, the crowd knowingly dispersed.
Once everyone had left, Assistant Collins turned and asked Maxim Sinclair, "President Sinclair, there’s still over half an hour until the competition starts, do you want to go to the organizer’s lounge and rest for a bit?"
Maxim Sinclair watched as Summer’s figure disappeared through the side door, then nodded slightly, "Yes, let’s sit in the lounge first."
Meanwhile, Summer and her team followed the staff to the competitors’ lounge.
The staff stopped at a door labeled "Stellart," "Ms. Lowell, this room is yours."
