Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 89: I Heard Venus Is Seriously Injured
Upon hearing that Ms. Venus injured her right hand, all color drained from Summer Lowell’s already pale face.
Yara glanced her up and down, then let out a laugh of indeterminate meaning, turned, and left the place.
Summer stood there in a daze, momentarily at a loss for what to do.
Conference attendees who were on good terms with Noah noticed Summer’s situation and quickly came over to lead her out of the hall.
Summer drew a sharp breath, enduring the pain in her foot, and sat down on the large sofa in the adjoining lounge.
In front of her was a kindly person helping her, a Freland jeweler named Jennifer, who had business dealings with Stellart and was a close friend of Noah.
Jennifer gathered up her long gown, crouched in front of Summer, and cautiously applied an ice pack to her ankle.
Summer, feeling overwhelmed by the attention, reached out to take the ice pack, but Jennifer brushed her hand away: "Don’t move. I like exploring in my spare time and know a bit of basic first aid. Don’t worry, I won’t let your ankle get injured again."
"That’s not what I meant," Summer quickly explained, "I can do it myself, there’s no need to trouble you."
"It’s no trouble," Jennifer said, brushing aside a stray curl and picking up a bandage from nearby, wrapping the ice pack onto Summer’s ankle, "Just be patient for a while longer. Once my assistant comes back with news from upstairs, we’ll decide when to head to the hospital to get your ankle treated."
At that moment, Summer was not at all concerned about her ankle; her mind was solely on Ms. Venus’s condition, so she nodded distractedly.
Jennifer, knowing what was on her mind, sat beside her, patting her hand and softly reassuring her, "Don’t worry too much. If it were serious, she would have been sent to the hospital by now. Right now, a private doctor is there, so it should be nothing major."
Unable to deceive herself, Summer shook her head with a bitter smile: "I already saw the blood earlier, and I asked someone nearby, who told me that Ms. Venus injured her right hand. For a designer, an injury to the right hand is fatal."
"There was indeed blood, I saw it too, but the blood might not necessarily have come from her hand. Perhaps Ms. Venus hit her nose when she fell!"
Jennifer handed her a cup of hot herbal tea: "Calm down a bit first. I’ll go see why my assistant hasn’t returned yet."
Clutching the hot cup, Summer contemplated her options. As soon as she had entered the lounge, she had already messaged Noah, who was outside.
But so far, Noah hadn’t replied, likely still busy.
Jennifer stood in the hallway for a while, and seeing her assistant coming from the stairway, she quickly waved her over: "How’s the situation?"
The assistant hurried over to Jennifer, saying, "When I got there, Ms. Venus had already treated the wound. Apart from those around her, no one knows the exact situation of her hand."
Jennifer slowly furrowed her brow: "Just by looking with your eyes, how thick was the bandage on her hand?"
The assistant nodded, "It looked thick, quite thick, you might even think there was a cast underneath."
"That serious huh," murmured Jennifer, glancing at the dazed Summer inside the room, sighing helplessly to herself—you just can’t catch a break, young lady!
Seeing Jennifer return with the assistant who had gone to gather information, Summer brightened, sitting up straight with her hands on the sofa backrest, eagerly asking, "Is Ms. Venus’s injury serious?"
The assistant glanced at Jennifer for confirmation, then responded to Summer: "When I arrived, Ms. Venus had already dealt with the wound. The full extent is unclear to outsiders, but as far as I saw, her bandage was quite thick, but it probably isn’t severe, considering I haven’t heard anything about stitches."
After some thought, Summer removed the bandage from her foot, taking off the ice pack wrapped around her ankle: "I need to go find Ms. Venus now. She got injured because of me, so I must apologize to her."
"You can’t just go like this," Jennifer stepped forward to stop her, patiently advising, "Shall I find a wheelchair? My assistant can push you there."
"I’ll go check if the manor has one ready," the assistant said, turning to leave.
Summer called after her: "No need for all that trouble. I’ll just go as I am; I worry that if I delay any longer, Ms. Venus won’t see anyone."
"True," Jennifer agreed, gesturing for the assistant to help support Summer on one side, "I’ll go with you."
Thus, the three of them hurriedly headed to the third floor, to the room where Ms. Venus was resting temporarily.
Outside the room, a tall and burly bodyguard stopped the trio: "Please wait here a moment; I’ll go in and announce you to her."
The bodyguard went in and came back out, addressing Summer, who was waiting expectantly at the door, with a cold expression: "Sorry, Ms. Venus is resting now and isn’t seeing guests."
Summer, unwilling to leave, pressed on: "Could you tell me, how severe is Ms. Venus’s right hand injury?"
"Thank you for your concern. It’s not very severe," the bodyguard replied coldly, then signaled to the far-off butler, "Ms. Venus is resting. Kindly escort these unrelated persons away."
"Certainly!" The butler responded promptly, and approached with a welcoming smile toward Jennifer and the others, "Ladies, the third floor is not accessible to the public; the first and second floors are for guest rest."
Feeling culpable for Ms. Venus’s hand injury, Summer dared not argue with the butler, following his instructions obediently, heading toward the staircase.
After only a few steps, the butler noticed her swollen right ankle and hurried to catch up and inquire, "Ms. Lowell, your foot seems quite injured. Should I arrange for you to go to the hospital?"
"No need, I just need to rest a bit," Summer replied with a smile, seizing the opportunity to inquire again about Venus’s condition, "How severe is Ms. Venus’s injury? She got hurt because of me—could you let me see her to apologize?"
The butler looked at her with a troubled expression: "You heard earlier that Ms. Venus is already resting. We aren’t permitted to disturb her during rest."
"I know, I wasn’t suggesting to disturb her tonight," Summer waved her hands, urgently clarifying, "I meant to ask if you could inform Ms. Venus tomorrow that I’d like to come and apologize in person."
"That... I can’t decide," the butler said, then stopped a maid passing by, "Has Dr. Adler left?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
The maid shook her head, "Dr. Adler is worried there might be complications, so he will be staying at the manor overnight."
