Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 90: Summer Lowell’s Apology Fails, Forced to Go to the Hospital
The butler nodded, "Go invite Dr. Adler over, Miss Lowell has injured her foot as well. Have Dr. Adler take a look at it."
Summer Lowell was about to refuse, but then she thought she could take this opportunity to inquire about Ms. Venus’s condition from Dr. Adler. She sincerely thanked the butler.
The butler waved it off indifferently and instructed a maid, "Take Miss Lowell to the nearest lounge, and then bring Dr. Adler over. If the situation is truly serious, arrange for Miss Lowell to be sent to the hospital."
Summer followed the butler’s suggestion. With Jennifer’s help, she followed the maid to a lounge on the second floor, not far from the staircase.
Dr. Adler arrived quickly. As soon as she sat down, a man in a white coat carrying a medical kit pushed the door open and entered.
The maid, seeing who had come, waved, "Here she is, this is Miss Lowell. The butler wants you to check if her ankle injury is serious. If it is, I’ll arrange for her to be sent to the hospital immediately."
Dr. Adler placed the medical kit on a nearby table, lifted his coat, and squatted down, "Swollen this high? Did it not settle down after the swelling and you moved around?"
Summer awkwardly replied, "I walked a little, not too far."
The maid, prepared to assist, rolled her eyes and asked, "Miss Lowell, you injured your foot on the first floor, right?"
"Yes, I injured it on the first floor, but I didn’t feel it at the time. It swelled up suddenly later."
In a few words, Summer brushed off the topic and then casually inquired of Dr. Adler, "You’re Ms. Venus’s private doctor, right?"
Although her ankle looked dreadful, it wasn’t that complicated to treat.
Simply put, Dr. Adler wouldn’t be there for long, and the time she could use was limited.
"Yes."
Dr. Adler put on disposable gloves, carefully examining Summer’s ankle for any issues with the bone.
"I wanted to ask if Ms. Venus’s hand injury is severe?" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Summer held her breath, cautiously observing Dr. Adler’s expression.
Dr. Adler withdrew his hand, tore off the disposable gloves, and tossed them into a nearby trash can with a wry smile, "Your foot is this injured, and you’re worried about Ms. Venus’s hand injury? Aren’t you concerned if your own bone is hurt?"
Summer forced a smile and admitted, "Because Ms. Venus was injured because of me, I’m worried about her."
Unaware of this context, Dr. Adler displayed an exaggerated expression, "So you’re the one who slipped and fell on Ms. Venus?"
"That’s right, it’s me," Summer nodded guiltily, "So can you tell me about Ms. Venus’s hand injury? If it’s not serious, I would feel more at ease."
Dr. Adler looked at her with a playful smile, "I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed. Ms. Venus’s hand injury isn’t light. She had two rather extravagant accessories on her hand tonight, and your fall pushed her right hand onto those accessories. Saying it was bleeding profusely is not an exaggeration!"
"That severe?" Summer’s heart sank, muttering to herself, "I’m in big trouble tonight!"
The maid, who hadn’t left yet, glanced at Dr. Adler with hesitance, her lips moving but ultimately remaining silent.
Jennifer, who hadn’t left Summer’s side, noticed that Dr. Adler seemed to be joking.
She placed a comforting hand on Summer’s shoulder, "Don’t worry; it seems this Dr. Adler is joking with you."
Dr. Adler looked up at Jennifer and then said, "I wouldn’t deceive you with this. The injury is indeed serious, but not as severe as you think. It’s just a surface wound, and it hasn’t affected her nerves, so it won’t impact her future design work."
Hearing this, Summer finally let out a long sigh of relief, "A blessing in disguise, thank goodness the nerves weren’t damaged, now I feel relieved."
"You’re relieved too soon," Dr. Adler pointed to her ankle, "Ms. Venus’s nerves might not be damaged, but your foot injury is worse than hers."
He turned to the maid, "Arrange the car; she needs to be taken to the hospital for treatment right now."
Reluctant to leave, Summer resisted, "Do we have to go to the hospital? It doesn’t hurt that much?"
"I see you don’t want to leave," Dr. Adler saw through her intentions, "Be honest, follow the doctor’s orders, and go to the hospital for further treatment. Don’t worry, your foot injury isn’t too serious but requires about a week of hospital rest."
While speaking, Dr. Adler had already packed up his medical kit. Seeing Summer’s unwillingness, he kindly advised, "Ms. Venus will be staying here for the next month. You can come back to apologize when your foot is healed. But if you’re considering using a ruse of self-injury, I advise you to save it; it won’t work on her."
"I wasn’t planning on that; I’m just worried that if I leave, it will be hard to get back in," Summer couldn’t hold back and expressed her concern.
Dr. Adler, having strapped his medical kit, paused and nodded in agreement, "It does seem like that’s the case. If you want to return, it might be difficult. So, the choice is yours. But be cautious, you shouldn’t be hopping around on that foot."
With that, Dr. Adler left the room.
The maid looked at Summer and then followed him out, likely to arrange for the car.
Jennifer circled the couch and sat next to Summer, "Have you contacted Noah?"
Summer shook her head slowly, "I already messaged him about what happened tonight, but he hasn’t responded. He’s probably still busy."
"It’s okay, I’m still here," Jennifer patted her hand, gently comforting her, "But Summer, your priority now is to get treatment for your ankle. The apologies can wait."
"But I’m worried if I just leave like this, it might upset Ms. Venus."
Of course, there’s another crucial matter: Summer suspected her foot didn’t slip for no reason tonight.
She wanted to find a chance to check the footage from the hallway entrance earlier.
Her instincts told her it wasn’t that simple.
Jennifer didn’t know what was on her mind; she thought Summer was just inexperienced with these situations, which made her hesitant.
"Don’t overthink things. Ms. Venus isn’t petty. And if you apologize later, Noah will probably come with you. You may not have a way to see Venus, but Noah does!"
