Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 93: Maxim Sinclair Personally Apologizes on Behalf of Summer Lowell
"But President Sinclair, Miss Lowell’s foot injury isn’t serious. Once she’s better, she might go to apologize to Ms. Venus. If this really has something to do with Miss Tina, should you inform Summer Lowell in advance?"
Assistant Collins asked this question out of goodwill, but Maxim Sinclair coldly laughed in response, "There’s no need! That ungrateful person should just go and hit a wall. Only then will she realize who the real good person is!"
Seeing him in such a mood, Assistant Collins didn’t dare to say more and changed the topic, "It’s getting late, President Sinclair, be careful on your way back."
"Hmm." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Maxim Sinclair nodded, sat in the car, started it, and left the hospital.
In the blink of an eye, it was the next morning.
After just waking up, Maxim Sinclair dealt with his piled-up work in the study, then went downstairs to grab a quick bite, and drove away from Varden Villa.
Soon, Maxim Sinclair drove directly into Clearwater Manor. He avoided the guests who hadn’t left yet, and through a private passage, he made his way to Ms. Venus’s study on the third floor.
Inside the room, Ms. Venus held a cup of herbal tea, appearing as if she’d been waiting for a long time.
Maxim Sinclair walked up to her and placed a carefully prepared gift on the table, "This is the best wine from my cellar, and it’s your favorite flavor."
Venus glanced at the wine on the table and looked up at Maxim Sinclair with a half-smile, "Why give me such a fine wine all of a sudden? There’s surely more to it than meets the eye?"
"Can’t I gift you wine without a reason?" Maxim Sinclair sat down on a mahogany chair opposite her, looking her straight in the eye, "If I remember correctly, you’ve had your eye on this bottle for a long time but never asked me for it."
"You sly devil, you understood my hint long ago. I’ve been hinting I liked this wine for a good two or three years, haven’t I? If it weren’t for what happened last night, you’d probably never give it to me, right?"
Maxim Sinclair smiled ambiguously, "From now on, the wine is yours."
Smiling, Maxim Sinclair slightly adjusted his expression, his gaze falling on Ms. Venus’s bandaged right hand, "Is it serious? Why is it so swollen?"
"Just a small injury, a flesh wound," Venus waved her right hand slightly, "Someone wanted to use me for a show, so I went along with it, and Dr. Adler wrapped my hand up like a mummy. It’s more convenient for the upcoming performance."
Making sure her hand was indeed unscathed, Maxim Sinclair subtly breathed a sigh of relief, "I’m glad you’re alright. If you’d injured the nerves in your right hand, it would be on my conscience."
"Oh dear," Venus teased him mischievously, "Is this the same Maxim Sinclair I know?"
"The one and only," Maxim Sinclair poured himself a cup of tea and chatted with Venus for a few moments before bringing up the real reason for his visit, "By the way, do you remember the details of last night?"
"I do, and I know what you’re after." Venus nodded slightly at the maid nearby, who understood and approached to place a USB drive on the table in front of Maxim Sinclair.
Maxim Sinclair picked up the USB drive from the table and smiled, "Did you anticipate my visit today?"
"Yes, I knew you’d come today," Venus’s face was devoid of any smile, "Be careful, Tina’s been considering herself your fiancée from very early on. She won’t tolerate anyone snatching what she’s dreamed of for so long."
"I’m a living person, not an object for someone to just take," Maxim Sinclair smiled ambiguously, "I’ll hold onto this USB drive. Thank you for your help today. I’m glad you’re unharmed."
"I’m fine, just a small wound, but I heard that young girl was also hurt. How’s she doing?" Venus recalled what the housekeeper told her and asked about Summer Lowell’s condition with concern.
Thinking of that ungrateful person, Maxim Sinclair’s eyes flickered several times before finally shaking his head as if nothing was wrong, "She’s fine; she didn’t injure her bones, just a sprain. She should recover in about a week."
"That’s good. After all, the girl was implicated because of you. If you really have feelings for her, marry her into the family quickly, and as for Tina, it would also put an end to her hopes and prevent others from being affected."
Back when Maxim Sinclair first took over the Sinclair family, he received help from Ms. Venus. Later, when Venus faced difficulties in her career, he extended a helping hand without hesitation.
Thus, their relationship has remained pretty good.
Whenever Ms. Venus offered him advice as someone with experience, Maxim Sinclair was willing to listen.
"Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it," Maxim Sinclair answered vaguely.
Noticing a fleeting discomfort on his face, Ms. Venus pondered briefly and vaguely guessed the reason behind it.
"Don’t tell me you’re yet to win over that young girl?"
Maxim Sinclair wasn’t inclined to discuss his complicated history with Summer Lowell, "Isn’t it obvious?"
"It’s rare to see you being brushed off by a young girl," Venus smiled knowingly but quickly recalled something else, her eyes puzzled, "Didn’t this young girl appear by your side before? She seems very familiar to me. Wasn’t she your secretary before?"
"Yes, she used to be my secretary, but then some matters arose, and she went abroad. She just returned last winter."
Maxim Sinclair skillfully changed the topic, and Ms. Venus quickly sensed his reluctance to talk more about Summer Lowell. So she followed his lead, shifting the conversation elsewhere, "Among the guests I’ve invited this time, two are from Southern minorities. They’ve arranged a bonfire party for tonight. Would you like to stay and join in the fun?"
With a three-hour video conference lined up for the evening, Maxim Sinclair shook his head, "I still have a ton of work to handle. I probably won’t be able to make it this time. Next time, for sure, I’ll be there."
"Every time I invite you to play, you say next time," Venus didn’t believe him at all. She also knew how genuinely busy Maxim Sinclair was, "Since you’re busy, I won’t insist. If anything comes up, just call me. You don’t need to drive over just to find me."
After a few more exchanges, Maxim Sinclair left Clearwater Mountain Villa through the discreet route he came by and returned to his residence.
As soon as he got back to Varden Villa, he received a call from Assistant Collins.
"President Sinclair, after checking, there is indeed an issue with Miss Tina."
Sitting down at his desk, Maxim Sinclair inserted the USB drive Venus had given him into his computer, "Tell me what you’ve found."
