Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!-Chapter 389 - 388: Mr. Xi Gets Jealous
Backstage, there were many artists gathered talking, including some of the older generation, and plenty of skilled actors.
When their group went over, one of the directors on the other side saw them—it was Director Jiang, a very famous director whose production also won an award tonight.
"Ian, over here."
Upon hearing the voice, Ian Lee turned his head to see them and then changed direction to walk towards them.
"Director Jiang."
"Ian, not bad, your team was the highlight tonight. You wouldn’t believe it, several directors just commented that the script you made this year is truly outstanding—no wonder it won several awards."
The two directors had known each other for a long time and had even co-directed a movie, so they were quite familiar with each other, speaking without much restraint, saying whatever came to mind.
Ian Lee: "You’re not bad either, don’t go on insulting me all the time."
As the two were chatting, Director Jiang suddenly called out Jensen Sterling.
"Jensen Sterling, congratulations on winning another grand prize."
Jensen Sterling smiled politely and responded with some pleasantries.
Director Jiang: "Mr. Sterling, I have another script coming up. If you’re free later, could you do me the honor?"
"This lady here, I’m planning to have her as the lead in my next script. If you have time, you guys could also discuss a collaboration." Saying this, Director Jiang pushed forward a female actress.
Jensen Sterling knew her too; after all, in the industry, she was also a very popular artist with commendable acting skills.
The woman revealed a flawless smile and extended her hand: "Mr. Sterling, I look forward to the opportunity to work together." She had never collaborated with Jensen Sterling before, so she was genuinely excited about the potential cooperation.
Jensen Sterling lightly shook her hand: "I hope we get that opportunity."
The actress seemed genuinely fond of Jensen Sterling and asked several questions related to his acting.
Jensen Sterling answered intermittently, but the atmosphere wasn’t too cold.
...
Mia Sutton, with nothing urgent to do, was holding two trophies, walked to the side, and grabbed some pastries to eat.
After exchanging a few words, Jensen Sterling seemed a bit impatient, and as he turned to look for Mia Sutton, he saw the girl at the side, holding a small plate and eating bite by bite like a little hamster, her cheeks puffing up and down.
Seeing this, Jensen Sterling slowly revealed a faint smile.
In a corner backstage, someone took a picture with their phone.
The actress noticed the change in Jensen Sterling’s expression and asked, "What are you looking at?"
As she tried to follow his line of sight, Jensen had already averted his gaze.
He replied nonchalantly, "Nothing."
Ian Lee was still chatting with the surrounding directors, mostly about scripts, and sooner or later, many people gathered around Jensen Sterling, all from the same industry.
The conversation flowed, yet Jensen Sterling would occasionally lift his gaze to check that the girl was still there.
...
While people were talking, Mia Sutton got a bit hungry, and since there was food at the venue, she had a little. Before long, someone came over to chat with her.
Initially, some actresses came over, subtly probing whether there’s someone influential behind her.
Mia Sutton: "..." She casually exchanged a few words with them.
She even entertained the thought of pulling Jensen over to say he’s the big boss behind her and wondered how they might react.
It would probably be quite a scene!
But she merely thought about it.
Those actresses, realizing they couldn’t get anything out of her, eventually left uninterested.
Later, another person approached, looking surprised: "Ms. Sutton?"
Mia Sutton, at first, didn’t react thinking it was directed at her, until the person stood directly before her.
Keeping her head down, Mia Sutton suddenly saw a pair of shoes in her line of sight: "Ms. Sutton, it is really you!"
Her gaze froze momentarily, then she lifted her head to see a handsome face.
After a two-second pause, Mia Sutton pointed at him with surprise and said hesitantly, "Zach Sheffield?"
The young man nodded quickly, smiling joyfully.
Mia Sutton then noticed when he smiles, he has a pair of cute little fangs.
"Ms. Sutton, you still remember me?"
Mia Sutton nodded; of course, she remembered. He left quite an impression— wasn’t he the one making Jensen do several NGs and even one of her fans?
And crucially, he was a handsome celebrity fan.
"What a coincidence, what are you doing here?"
Zach Sheffield sat down on another chair beside her, even scooting the chair closer, and then spoke.
"I just came to look around. I didn’t plan on coming, but my dad insisted on buying a guest ticket with cash and pushed me in, saying he wanted me to really feel the atmosphere of the film festival and be motivated to produce better films, instead of making them crappy."
"I thought if I didn’t go, the money would just go to waste, so I came, not wanting the money to be spent in vain and benefit someone else instead."
Stopping here, he lifted his head to look at Mia Sutton, once again showing his fanged smile: "But I’m glad I came. Otherwise, I might not have run into you."
Zach Sheffield was genuinely fond of Mia Sutton, a true fanboy, buying her albums, watching her performances, seeing her films, and he might go as far as to post her posters in his room.
After hearing what he said, Mia Sutton laughed and sincerely affirmed him: "Not wasting money is a good virtue."
As a money enthusiast, every penny must be worth its value. If you spend money, you’ve got to show up, no doubt.
Zach Sheffield nodded in agreement.
He felt, indeed, his father was just... too extravagant, ready to splash money at a moment’s notice.
Luckily, he cherished the money and showed up today; otherwise, he would’ve missed the chance to see his idol.
"Oh oh oh, and congratulations to Ms. Sutton for winning the award."
Mia Sutton squinted her eyes happily: "Thank you."
While talking with Mia Sutton, Zach Sheffield glanced at the two trophies beside her.
"Huh, why are there two trophies?"
He bent down to look closer and noticed the engraving on the base of the trophy.
"There’s one for Mr. Sterling too, how come Mr. Sterling’s trophy is with you?" Zach murmured softly.
"I like it here," a voice resonated plainly next to him, carrying a slight chill.
Upon hearing the male voice, Zach Sheffield immediately looked up.
Jensen Sterling stood nearby, his eyes calmly observing Zach Sheffield.
Zach Sheffield, being shorter than Jensen Sterling and sitting on a chair, strained to look up at him.
A few seconds later, he snapped out of it and sprang from his chair, standing properly to the side: "Mr. Sterling."
