Chapter 142: Queen of Krivos [6] [Side Story: Velyrian]

Everything was quiet.

Velyrian floated in a strange stillness, like time had stopped.

He couldn’t feel his body.

There was no pain like he was expecting... there was nothing.

’So... this is it?’

He thought he had died.

And in that weightless silence, memories began to flood him.

His daughter’s smile before the curse twisted it.

The nights he spent researching, the failures, the letters he wrote with trembling hands.

Regret settled over him like a heavy fog.

He had always known it would end this way.

But then something shifted.

The silence cracked.

He could feel again... something distant and wrong, like his body didn’t belong to him anymore.

’Wait... I’m not dead?’

Confused, he tried to open his eyes, but the world twisted before him.

Light bent, and the space around him pulsed like a living thing.

Then, with a sharp breath, his eyes snapped open.

He wasn’t in his office anymore.

He was lying on a strange ground that shimmered faintly with light, beneath a sky that didn’t look like any he had ever seen.

Everything felt unfamiliar.

And Velyrian, still dazed and half-lost, could only whisper to himself—

"...Where am I?"

He slowly sat back up, pleasantly surprised when he saw a new pair of legs.

’How did I get them?’

He wondered, staring at them for a while before he looked around.

He was on the edge of a city.

....A very beautiful city like he had never seen before.

Velyrian stared at the city in front of him.

Tall white spires stretched into the sky, glowing faintly with soft golden light.

The influx of mana was far greater than he remembered.

It was like he was in a whole different world.

It felt unreal... like a dream painted in too much color.

He stood up slowly, still glancing down at the legs he hadn’t built.

His breathing grew unsteady for a moment.

He took a step forward, then another.

The weight, the motion—it all felt... natural.

It was the first time in years he had moved without pain.

Nothing made sense.

"What is this place?" he whispered again, more to himself than anyone else.

He began to walk inside the city, unable to hide his curiosity.

On his way, he found some clothes that he wore as he was completely naked.

’I am sorry for stealing this.’

Velyrian hid his long ears, just in case.

When he walked on the main street, he was immediately greeted with something he never saw before.

The stone beneath his feet was smooth, humming faintly with energy.

’Are they... runes?’

He thought, staring at it without moving.

It was the first time he had seen something like this.

’It looks like they are using this to generate energy.’

After looking at the road for a while, he looked at the people who were all... different.

Velyrian couldn’t put a finger on what was wrong.

They looked human... but weren’t really one.

They were taller, sturdier and... powerful.

Velyrian felt out of place.

From the side of the street, a voice called out to him.

"You’re not from here, are you?"

Velyrian turned, looking at a street vendor smiling at him.

He slowly walked towards the vendor. "Yeah... I am not."

"I can tell." The middle-aged man replied. "So, where are you from, Sorana or Bardha?"

Velyrian frowned in confusion. "Are they places?"

The vendor raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. "You don’t know it?"

Velyrian shook his head. "I’ve never heard those names before."

The man let out a short chuckle. "You must be from beyond the folds then. A foreigner through and through."

"What’s this city called?" Velyrian asked.

The man paused for a moment, then said simply, "Eos."

Velyrian repeated the name softly to himself. "Eos..."

It does sound familiar.

’Wait... don’t tell me.’

Velyrian drew in a trembling breath as he asked. "...Which year is this?"

The Vendor blinked at him. "It’s 1023 E.D."

A panic began to bubble within him as he confirmed it. ’I am not in my own time.’

Was he in future or past? Velyrian wasn’t sure about it.

"Do you know about the goddess Morana?" He asked, desperately trying to keep himself in check. "Any of the five main gods?"

The Vendor now looked offended. "What are you talking about?" He barked. "There is only one god and that’s the Mother of Desire... Goddess Alista."

"...."

Velyrian’s mind turned numb at his words.

He had... never heard of the name in his entire life.

And that’s a lot, cause he has lived a life longer than most.

’What is even happening now?’

A sudden firecracker exploding in the sky took his attention.

Velyrian looked up as there were countless of them in the sky.

"What’s this for?" He asked, glancing at the Vendor.

The man grinned like he was waiting for it.

"Oh this?" He asked. "It’s to let everyone know that all the otherworlders are now ready."

His ears twitched. "Otherworlders?"

"Yeah." He replied, nodding his head. "King Asher I, summoned them to fight against those accursed Elves and Giants."

"...."

Velyrian drew in a deep breath as he felt his reality twisting around.

’How... why?’

From what he knows, the otherworlders were summoned six hundred years ago.

But...

The war between Elves and Giants ended six thousand years ago.

There was such a huge difference, but... it is happening now at the same time?

"No."

A sudden and cold voice echoed in his head, making him flinch.

"They both are different."

Velyrian looked around as he quickly rushed somewhere alone.

He had heard the voice before... it’s the Ven Core.

"Where am I!?" He asked as soon as he was alone. "What is this place?"

"You are six thousand years in the past from your time." The voice replied coldly. "The time when Elves waged war on everyone."

"Why am I here!?" Velyrian asked, his frustration clear in his voice.

"It’s your punishment." The voice coldly said. "For trying to break free from the shackles of the golden Sun."

"..."

Velyrian quietly sat down on the floor as he stared blankly at the ground.

So much was happening in such a short amount of time that he couldn’t even think through.

Though one thing became clear to him.

’There was another group of otherworlders that were summoned six thousand years ago.’

"If you wish to return to your time and see your daughter." The voice said, taking his attention. "You need to do one thing."

Velyrian blankly looked at the sky. "....What?"

"Join the Elves and erase the influence of Outer God Alista from this world."

The voice said, making his entire body turn cold.

"The world should only worship the Golden Sun as their God."

Velyrian said nothing as he blankly stared at the sky.

"In return."

The voice continued once again as a portal formed in front of him.

"The Ven Core will provide you with the power to walk through time."
