Cultivation Daddy-Chapter 124 - 123: The First Inscription
After Li Yuhan finished the cake, he went inside to take a bath. At this time, the others went downstairs to have breakfast.
As he let the warm water wash over him, recalled their recent activities in school, his eyes widened and he was glad that he talked him into going.
He was so focused on ditching school that he forgot they had started taking multiple classes to find their paths.
It was about path discovery, he remembers his favorite teacher once saying that this is a very delicate period in the school year. Only by sitting through every course / majors would one find the true path that belonged to them.
Li Yuhan can’t imagine choosing a career that would bored him to death.
He rinsed the soap from his body and went to his room to put on his school. Just as he entered, he saw two uninvited guests sitting in front of the mirror.
"What are you guys doing here?" He asked
The two figures turned, with surprised expressions.
"Oh, you’re back. I thought you’ll be staying in Dad’s room for a while." Li Zhang said.
Li Zhang was busy styling Li Jingxuan hair in front of the mirror.
"Second brother, are you going with us to school?" Li Jingxuan asked
Li Yuhan nodded: "Yes, I didn’t plan to at first. But I heal faster than expected."
"You’re really amazing." Li Jingxuan said with genuine admiration.
Li Yuhan felt his cheeks flush at the compliment. Just thinking about how many excuses he was making to ditch school, he didn’t feel worthy of Li Jingxuan admiration.
"You’re back just in time. I already wrote a letter of absence and apology for you, but it seems that you won’t be needing it." Li Zhang ginned, his hands still arranging the hair curls.
"How thoughtful of you, thanks."
Li Yuhan knew that Li Zhang didn’t write anything. After all, if there’s one thing this guy hates the most about school is writing. But the thought was there, so he said thanks either way.
"Can you guys leave? I need to put on my clothes."
Li Zhang glanced at Li Jingxuan and exchanged a conspiratorial smile: "Just a few more minutes we’re almost done here. My hair relaxer has run out so I need to borrow yours and your mirror is also much clearer than ours."
"If your hair products finish, then go buy more. You have a weekly allowance, don’t say you can’t afford it." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"Well, you see... That wouldn’t work. I just spent a huge sum on my picture and story book collections. Shopkeeper Chi has many new romance stories." He sighed in admiration: "He never let me down."
Before he only used to sneak a peek at those books because he couldn’t afford them, but now it is different. He gets a weekly allowance of one hundred silver and one low grade spirit stone.
Li Yuhan chuckled, shaking his head at his brother’s priorities: "You and your romance novels. I still don’t understand what you find so fascinating about those."
Li Zhang waved a dismissive hand, his eyes sparkling with mischief: "You’ll see once I have my hands on the next installment. Who doesn’t want a little drama in their life, especially when you’re stuck behind school walls all day?"
Li Jingxuan rolled his eyes but didn’t say anything. Li Zhang is very defensive of his story books. Sometimes he spent hours reading them, and that was really interesting because he hated reading.
"Drama or not, I think you should focus on your studies, or at least try to put in the effort." Li Yuhan said seriously as if he wasn’t the person who was about to ditch school.
Li Zhang scoffed: "And miss out on the riveting exploits of lost love and secret identities? You can’t be serious!"
Li Jingxuan interjected: "Maybe there’s a secret identity waiting for you in class, pretending to be a diligent student while secretly reading books that Dad didn’t approve of."
"Oh, the betrayal! If I cannot live out my wild dreams in those pages, then what hope is there in reality?" Li Zhang flopped onto the bed, as if he was in despair.
"What are those wild dreams?" Li Jingxuan asked curiously.
Li Zhang glanced at Li Yuhan and they exchanged wide grins.
"Trust me, you don’t want to know." Li Yuhan said
"Oh," Li Jingxuan shrugged
Li Yuhan couldn’t get them to leave, so he pulled the curtains, separating both sides.
After he was done, Li Jain drove them. They were a few minutes late, but the school wasn’t so strict, so they didn’t get into trouble for being late.

At Moonstone Scholar’s Academy, the fragrance of ink and polished wood drifted through the small lecture hall.
At each desk sat children seven to nine, clutching their brushes awkwardly in their little hands.
At the front of the room stood instructor Hao Ming, a thin middle aged man with silver glasses.
He adjusted his spectacles and pointed at the board hanging behind him: "Today, this class will learn the foundation of Inscription."
The children immediately straighten up. Most of them were confused. Inscription is not a common path compared to talisman and formation arrays. Today is the first time some of them are hearing about it.
"Teacher, is it the same as calligraphy?" Asked a little girl.
Hao Ming smiled: "Ah, a very good question! While calligraphy is an art of beautiful writing, Inscription is the art of imbuing meaning power into those symbols."
He traced a delicate pattern in the air with his finger, demonstrating the strokes: "With Inscription, each symbol carries energy, allowing you to create more than mere words."
"So, is it like a talisman?" Another student asked
Hao Ming nodded, then shook his head: "Talismans are a form of Inscription, where symbols are arranged to invoke specific effects. But they are different in the way they’re placed, how they function, how long they last and how they are used."
Seeing that the children still have more questions, Hao Ming knows that no matter how he explains now, they still won’t understand: "The difference between Talisman and Inscription would be explained in the intermediate level. Right now, we’re only focusing on the foundation of Inscription. Can someone tell what Inscription is?"
The children exchanged glances, looking at the ones who always answered questions in class to save them. But those active little ones don’t know it either.
The ginger-like hair boy, Xu Tian leaned closer to Li Juanxin and whispered: "Juanxin, do you know it?"
Li Juanxin glared at him impatiently: "I know a little bit, what’s wrong?"
Xu Tian frowned: "Then why don’t you answer? You might receive praise from the teacher.
Li Juanxin rolled his eyes and ignored him. But just as he was about to get back to writing, his hand was suddenly pulled up.
"Xu Tian! You bastard!" Li Juanxin curse between grit teeth. He tried to pull his hand back, but the teacher had already seen him.
Hao Ming raised an eyebrow, he didn’t expect the shy student in his class would be the one volunteer: "Yes, Juanxin, want to give it a try? Don’t worry about being wrong."
The room fell silent as everyone turned to Li Juanxin, who squirmed slightly in his seat. He opened his mouth and hesitated: "Inscription is an imprint of runes or arrays which can be carved, engraved or stitched into a physical object or surface."
Hao Ming nodded in approval, that’s the best explanation he can think of.
"Very good, Juanxin." Hao Ming praised with a smile spreading across his face: "You have captured the essence of Inscription well. Have you taken an Inscription class before?
Li Juanxin’s cheeks flushed: "My Dad taught me."
Hao Ming raised his eyebrows in surprise: "Your father?" he repeated: "That’s impressive! It seems like you have a strong foundation already. Thanks again for that wonderful answer, you may have your seat."
The other students murmured and looked at him in admiration.
Xu Tian leaned back in awe, he was only trying to trick Li Juanxin, but he didn’t expect him to be so insightful. He knew that Li Juanxin would definitely settle the score with him later.
After Li Juanxin sat, he only glared at him and said nothing.
"Ok class, let’s move on." Hao Ming continued, tapping the board lightly with a bamboo pointer.
He drew a simple rune onto the board. Three intersecting lines surrounding a small spiral.
"This," Hao Ming explained: "this is the base pattern for spiritual reinforcement Inscriptions. The proper way to draw these patterns clearly and correctly, is to guide the spiritual energy through each line."
"Let’s give it a try. You have to visualize the energy swirling, connecting the spiral to the intersections. Remember, precision is the key."
He walked around the room, guiding the children: "Follow the pattern exactly, even a small deviation will lead to failure."
Hao Ming was only teaching what was required, he didn’t expect huge progress at this stage. After all, this is the foundation level. But sometimes, people learn quickly by being practical instead of just listening.
The Inscription he told them to draw is a level zero, grade zero. The basicest of the basics.
