He also regretted making that suggestion, since he had failed to notice the black miasma until after it had emerged during the forging of the Beast Contract.

Now, he wanted to understand his Master's current thoughts.

"No, let's try again," Ezekiel said.

Just as he was about to continue speaking, a system notification alert popped open before him.

[ ◆ Remnant Boss Soul of the Dungeon of Raptinel

Quest: You have disrupted the remnant soul of the dungeon's former boss by attempting to forge a contract with the beast he incubates. Frustrated by endless failure, the soul has taken notice of you, the intruder who defied his plans.

You have two remaining attempts to seize control of the Mantle Golden Crown Beast.

If you succeed, the remnant boss soul will mark your magical signature and seek revenge whenever your paths cross again. If you refuse, you may slay the beast and escape this fate. ]

Reward: +1 Sun and Star Flower, +1 Custom Book Spell, +1 Custom Cybernetic Beast Armour Blueprint, +5% Wind-related Spell Proficiency, +5% Fire-related Spell Proficiency.

Accept / Decline ]

Ezekiel was surprised as he read through the system alert.

From his observations, he had thought that capturing the Molten Golden Crown Beast and rescuing Esther and the others would have triggered a quest.

The stakes were high enough that any slip-up could have revealed his Beastmaster Path, but nothing had transpired.

Considering that quests could also be viewed as paths of consequence, whether positive or negative, had the system somehow deduced that he was able to handle that situation easily, or perhaps capturing the Mantle Golden Crown Beast was already considered a sufficient reward on its own?

Nonetheless, now that the quest had appeared right after the emergence of that black miasma, which was capable of breaking his Beastmaster Contract, Ezekiel quickly understood why.

Dungeon of Raptinel? That was the name of the Grand Avalon Academy dungeon.

And the remnant boss soul likely belonged to one that the Founder of the Grand Avalon Academy and his team had slain, but somehow survived.

What lay ahead was dangerous, even for him.

Ezekiel now understood the reason behind the mysterious appearance of the numerous powerful beasts within the dungeon, and possibly why the other half of the dungeon had been sealed off from the rest.

For a moment, Ezekiel was unsure whether to accept the quest or not.

If the remnant dungeon boss soul was easy to deal with, the academy would have taken care of it long ago.

However, upon examining the rewards, he felt tempted enough to accept them.

The fire proficiency boost confirmed his thoughts about improving his combat capabilities. As long as he improved his skill sets and could luckily trigger the right quests, there was always a chance to obtain opportunities to grow stronger.

Even the wind proficiency boost, the Sun and Star Flower, the Custom Book Spell, and the Custom Cybernetic Beast Armour Blueprint had him enamoured.

'I'll just have to trust my gut,' Ezekiel thought.

He accepted the quest.

[ Quest accepted. ]

Ezekiel snapped out of his thoughts and turned to look at Felix.

Sensing their Master's decision, they stepped aside.

Ezekiel stretched his hand forward and activated his Beastmaster Contract once more.

His Beastmaster Path Rune shone brightly as multiple magic circles emerged out of thin air, encircling the unconscious Mantle Golden Crown Beast.

However, the black miasma erupted once more, forcefully resisting the contract.

After one more attempt, the miasma gushed out of the beast's belly like a thick cloud of fog, tilting toward the direction of the dungeon boundary before vanishing into thin air.

"It's gone," Ezekiel sighed in relief.

Even his tense cybernetic beasts seemed relieved.

Ezekiel made one more attempt, and this time it worked. The golden magic circles scattered into countless motes of golden dust that descended upon the Mantle Golden Crown Beast, and upon him.

[ Quest completed. ]

Ezekiel didn't claim the rewards yet, as this wasn't a suitable place to do so.

The status screen of the beast appeared before him.

An A– innate talent!

Ezekiel held his breath as he looked through the Mantle Golden Crown beast's profile sheet.

Not only that, but it possessed two high attributes, Fire and Poison, a rare attribute, and a middle attribute of Wind, and a supreme attribute of Metal, which it had gained after contracting with him.

A magical beast like this could only be purchased for several hundred billion on the major markets.

Now, he no longer needed to worry about finding a suitable beast for himself. As for the last remaining beast to form a contract with, Ezekiel already had the kind of beast he wanted in mind.

However, he had no way of acquiring that beast without alerting the Zahara Clan.

Ezekiel didn't trigger the Mantle Golden Crown Beast's transformation into a cybernetic form because now wasn't the right time or place to do so.

He quickly stored the beast in his Beast Space and brought out the remaining CR squads.

"Let's go. Seal the underground cavern on our way out. Let no one know we were here," Ezekiel commanded.

With Victory's mist concealment skill still working overtime to conceal his magical signature, the CRs squads quickly got to work, pulling back the earth they had displaced.

By the time they were done, two hours had passed.

Ezekiel emerged from the underground tunnel and waited for the CRs squads to seal it thoroughly before storing them, alongside Victory, into his storage ring.

He quickly boarded Felix, who had already transformed into jet mode, and vanished into the distance.

They exited the dungeon in less than ten minutes.

However, Ezekiel discovered that this time, while the Dungeon Hall was still crowded with students, the gates leading to the dungeon were barricaded.

He was stopped the moment he stepped out.

"If you don't mind me asking, where have you been?" Tiana said, narrowing her eyes at the student before her.

After receiving the message he had sent them, they had immediately rushed down to the dungeon and sealed the entrance.

At the same time, James and the remaining Dungeon Service Nurses entered to assist in handling the situation.

Although they had managed to persuade some students to leave the Dungeon Hall, others who had been training in the dungeon were still emerging one by one.

Tiana had never expected Ezekiel, the one who had been sent to deliver the message, to come out of the dungeon. She couldn't help but feel that her growing suspicions about him were correct.

However, she didn't dare think that Ezekiel had played a hand in the incident involving two Second-Rank Lesser Beasts, because after all, he was still a Rank One Magical Swordsman.

Instead, she guessed he had been looking for an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and contract such a beast; after all, he came from a renowned Beastmaster clan.

As for how he would capture one and forge a contract with it, given his constant flirtation with death because of his training regimen, he had most likely not thought it through either.

Tiana's brows twitched in anger, folding her arms across her chest as she stared at him.

Seeing that he failed to respond immediately, she assumed her suspicions were most likely correct.

"Listen, I don't care how badly you've been treated in your clan, and how much that has messed you up. My only concern is about why you'd wander into the dungeon while two Second-Rank beasts are roaming about. If you die, I doubt your clan will care. However, with the sudden waves you've been making, the academy certainly won't let us go unpunished. So from now on, stay clear of the dungeon," Tiana said.

"Do you understand?"

Ezekiel nodded solemnly.

"Humph! I won't report this incident because of your commendable action earlier today, so leave quickly before I change my mind," Tiana added, dispelling the barrier she had placed around them and pointing at the door in the distance.

Ezekiel nodded once more and began to walk away. Just as he was about to step forward, he halted and turned to Tiana again to speak.

As though sensing his thoughts, Tiana smiled and said, "Don't worry about your classmates. We've done our best to stabilise their health before admitting them to the hospital. They will most likely recover within one to two days. The others, however, will probably take a week or more."

Ezekiel nodded, then turned on his heels and swiftly exited the Dungeon Hall.

Ezekiel returned to his dorm room and claimed his rewards.
