Lu Chengyu stayed inside the room in silence. He unfurled his fists that he had been holding against his palms, trying to keep his head in control.

As he took a deep breath, one of his subordinates came to stand in front of the door.

"Sir, the ship will stop at our destination soon."

Lu Chengyu looked at him and nodded. "Have you prepared the girls? Did they cause any trouble?"

The subordinate replied, "There were some altercations during the move. But we were able to stop it before anything could happen. And as you instructed, we left the newest one in her cage. Do you want us to bring her up as well?"

"No need. She will be brought to another place. Just take her somewhere where she can wash the dirt off her body." Lu Chengyu paused as he walked out of the room. "What has she been up to after I left her?"

"She's been sitting in a corner. She hadn't done anything else other than that." The subordinate followed behind Lu Chengyu and hesitated for a second.

"What is it?"

The subordinate shook his head. "It's nothing."

"Tell me."

The subordinate did not want to say anything. It was a mistake to let Lu Chengyu notice he had something on his mind. However, it wasn't just him. Even his other colleagues had been wondering.

From the point where they had abducted that woman named Ran Xueyi, Lu Chengyu had been adamant in restraining her and keeping her completely guarded and secured in a cage. He had used all of their resources just to capture her.

Although they knew it was an order from above, they never doubted or refused to do what they were told to do. But capturing an actress from another country and using up all the budget and men they could scour, wasn't this a bit too much?

Some of their men even died in the process of abducting her from the island.

Hence, some of them have been talking behind Lu Chengyu.

"Who really is that woman, sir?" The subordinate couldn't speak out honestly, fearing Lu Chengyu would explode in his face instead.

Lu Chengyu hadn't heard of the rumor going around among his subordinates. However, he does understand their curiosity about Ran Xueyi.

Lu Chengyu continued walking past several bedroom doors, floors, and finally reached the iron doors that led to the basement, where several cages kept women inside. Two huge armed guards stood on each side, preventing anyone unauthorized from entering or escaping the place.

Before opening the door, Lu Chengyu opened his lips. His gruff voice sounds sinister. "Don't underestimate her. She may have been living a contented and peaceful life outside as an actress, but she was once one of us."

"What?" the subordinate thought he had misheard him.

Lu Chengyu expected this reaction. He continued to walk the dark path, passing empty cages that once held a few captured people.

He didn't go into detail. It was unneeded. And he wouldn't understand it, anyway. What happened in the past with Ran Xueyi was not something he could comprehend.

He turned a corner and finally reached the prison that contained Ran Xueyi.

He had already expected it, but Lu Chengyu was still surprised that Ran Xueyi did not go crazy and try to escape. She was capable of that much, Lu Chengyu believed.

She had done so in the past. Lu Chengyu would at least expect some sort of struggle from her several years later, like a trapped tigress.

Yet, Ran Xueyi showed him nothing but obedience.

Was he expecting too much from her? Had the years of being domesticated in the outside world and forgetting about the past made her so tame and boring?

"Unlock it," Lu Chengyu ordered his subordinate.

The sound of keys echoed in the dark. Soon, the lock opened, and Lu Chengyu pulled the door to enter.

He didn't show it, but Lu Chengyu's body trembled as he got closer. He might have some doubts in his mind, but his body still remembered the damage Ran Xueyi had caused in it.

"Where did you take them?" Ran Xueyi spoke before anyone could, her eyes glued on the wall, not even glancing where the two men had walked in.

"Are you worried about them?" Lu Chengyu answered her with a question. He kept a considerable distance from her.

Ran Xueyi didn't nod or shake her head. She continued staring at the wall before lowering her gaze to look at her bound feet tied to a chain against the wall.

Did she have the time to worry about others? No, but she pitied them. Maybe sympathized with them as well. After all, they were in a similar situation.

And she felt it was not the first time she got into this kind of situation.

Lu Chengyu did not receive a response from Ran Xueyi as she remained silent. Hence, Lu Chengyu gestured to his subordinate with a sharp move of his head.

Understanding the hint, the subordinate walked forward with keys in hand to unlock the chains that bound Ran Xueyi's feet.

As his subordinate did what he ordered, Lu Chengyu kept a close eye on Ran Xueyi.

Ran Xueyi did not move, but her body tensed a little when the man moved close to her. Her body instinctively moved to avoid, but she forced it down.

A small voice in her head even told her that as soon as the man was within reach, and once her feet were released, she should immediately grab him and press on his acupuncture point to render him paralyzed for a moment.

Lu Chengyu's presence pinned her. He was watching her too closely. From the corner of her eye, Ran Xueyi knew that the slightest movement would not escape him. He would instantly shut it down before she could even try.

It was a stalemate.

But Ran Xueyi was not as hopeless as Lu Chengyu believed.

Maybe there really was no way out.

But Ran Xueyi also knew this—she was not the only one trapped aboard ‌the ship.
