Chapter 463: Proper Punishment

No one answered, nor did anyone dare make a sound.

But the truth was... Darian could only defend himself — and obviously not forever. Killing them all by himself was pretty hard, unless they were dumb enough to let him land a hit with his daggers, poisoning them with his dark power. Or if they repeated the same mistake as before, giving him all that power again.

Still, the scene and atmosphere he created, combined with the power of his semi-immortal soul, had deeply shaken their minds and souls — planting a kind of heart demon inside them. It was like a primal fear that had settled within, and just seeing him made them feel unsafe.

That’s why, at that moment, they couldn’t even think straight anymore. Darian understood that well; once they calmed down and thought things through, they’d realize they’d been manipulated.

Sure, he was definitely something to fear, but he wasn’t nearly as invincible as he looked. At least not right now — with only four rings.

"How pathetic..." Darian muttered softly, breaking the silence.

"I was in the middle of a party, and you all came on your own to ruin it. Now, if you wanna run away, go ahead. I’m not leaving Earth, and I know exactly where your homes are. Luckily, I got to meet two people I was gonna look for soon anyway, so this was satisfying."

Vahlur clenched his fists hard, feeling the healing pill take effect and ease the pain. Darian slowly turned toward him, sending a chill down his spine.

"As for you... I was in a good mood, so I played around a bit. But now it’s over — I’ll give you one hour to get the hell off this planet."

"You..." he muttered.

"Don’t play dumb. The immortals warned you properly about the new rules. You’re not really part of the family — you only married that woman. Soon..." Darian paused and gave a cold smile. "You won’t even be able to say you have any connection left with that family."

Everyone there understood his words clearly. None of them had the ability to make him hand Mallory back; now that she’d fallen into his hands, her life wouldn’t last long.

Darian finished indifferently, "Anyway, if you’re still on this planet in an hour, I’ll summon the immortals... it’ll be a bit anticlimactic, but I’ll make sure you and everyone else in that family are erased for good."

After he finished, no one moved or reacted.

After a few seconds, Vahlur was the first to let out a cold snort.

He quickly calmed himself, knowing that his son, Vanh, would soon return to the universe. Vanh had been born on Earth and was Mallory’s direct son — meaning Darian couldn’t expel him. He’d take command of the Wube family on Earth.

And besides... according to the rules already set, the Wube family could immediately summon all the most powerful ones with direct Earth bloodlines. These weren’t average people; many were part of the universe’s elite — nothing like the trash he’d brought tonight to disgrace himself.

Vahlur would handle everything from afar, while his son would have a real army, plus the support of three immortals. Darian wouldn’t have time to grow stronger and would soon be cornered to death.

The elf snorted sharply without saying a word, just turned his back, coldly abandoning his captured wife and thinking only about his own future.

Camille, watching from a distance, had a dark expression. What had her granddaughter done with her own life? That elf clearly didn’t have the slightest love for her. He’d probably done everything just to seize power over the family by marrying her. Now, he accepted defeat and would erase her existence from his memory forever.

Within seconds, the elf used a spatial artifact and vanished — and Darian didn’t bother stopping him.

Seeing that, the others tore through space with their own artifacts and did the same, without hesitation.

Silence.

Soon, they were all gone, and only the sound of ocean waves remained.

Darian took a deep breath, then turned and slowly headed back toward the continent.

...

As he approached, he stopped in front of Camille. Then, looking down at himself, he searched for something for a few seconds.

"Hmm... I tore my clothes completely, but not a single scratch on me — just like I promised."

He muttered, turning toward her. Camille looked him in the eyes, then nodded, a faint light flickering in her gaze.

Darian turned to Lucy, and she nodded seriously.

Then they all quickly returned to the Empire’s central building.

Near that massive structure, there was a district filled with smaller buildings, recently built to Earth’s highest standards. That was where the Shadows of Heaven clan currently lived.

As they arrived at one of the buildings, Veyle came running, exuding a strong scent of medicinal herbs. She was holding a small box that was practically steaming hot.

"It’s ready," she said, handing Lucy the freshly made pill.

Lucy thanked her and then led everyone inside. Darian, Camille, Tian Yu and Nikolai went down a hidden passage and arrived at a large hall.

There, they found Lucius in the center, staring at a human woman bound in vines and roots, completely sealed.

Lucy looked at Camille with a serious expression. Camille took a deep breath and nodded without hesitation.

Darian stepped closer, then pushed a little of his dark power so it invaded Mallory’s body directly.

Then Lucy grabbed the pill from the box. She used her ring power, wrapped it in a white light... and shoved it into Mallory’s mouth without mercy.

"!" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

At the same instant, Mallory’s eyes flew open, wide and frantic.

Lucius clamped her mouth shut immediately, using wood power. She tried to roar and struggle, but couldn’t — her face twisted in effort and agony.

The steaming pill went down her throat mercilessly, burning; the white light Lucy placed healed the internal injuries almost instantly. In other words, it entered, destroying everything while also healing, causing intense pain without killing.

They didn’t do it out of sadism, even if they didn’t show much compassion.

The herbs in that pill had a unique property: if the temperature dropped, they’d lose effect. So they could only be used straight out of the oven, or they’d need constant resources to keep them hot. It was a weird, peculiar pill, but effective for this situation.

After several minutes, with Mallory groaning and thrashing horribly, the pill’s effect finally spread through her whole body, and the torture ceased.

Then her eyes went completely white.

"Is that a Soul Flame pill?" Nikolai asked, surprised, recognizing it.

That kind of pill was so hard to make that almost no alchemist in the universe would risk it. On top of that, its usage limits and duration were awful, so there was little incentive to try making them.

Lucius nodded with a slight, satisfied smile. Veyle had done everything in record time and now should be lying down completely exhausted.

Lucy, wasting no time, activated her maximum power and invaded Mallory’s mental sea. This was her technique combined with Darian’s dark power. She could only use it when that power was inside someone’s body.

It was a calculated method, designed so an ordinary human wouldn’t die in the process and so Lucy could get everything she wanted.

Darian had already told her exactly when their father died; she did a quick, precise search.

In seconds, Lucy activated an artifact in her hands, and a light penetrated into it. She repeated the process several times. The whole procedure took a few minutes.

When it ended, the pill’s effect also faded.

When Lucy returned to reality, her face turned pale, and she lowered her head, eyes distant.

Darian sighed and moved closer, supporting her. "It’s okay... he died protecting what he loved. We’re alive, and we’ll make them all pay."

Lucy trembled at that. Then she buried her head in his chest and stayed still. Darian comforted her in her pain; Lucy saw the whole scene of their father’s death — the same one Darian had witnessed long ago.

It had been a horribly painful, agonizing death — all at the hands of that woman who’d been enjoying herself.

Everyone in the hall was silent, including Lucius, who couldn’t understand what could leave Lucy so broken.

After several minutes, she pulled away slowly and handed over the artifact she’d been holding.

Darian took it and skimmed the contents. They were memories; everything was perfectly recorded. Not only Darius’s death, but also something older that Darian didn’t know: Mallory had allied with Vahlur and plotted everything to accuse her brother of treason.

Indeed, Darius had had contact with the Immortal Keepers, but it was borderline acceptable. Even the family’s former head had a minimal link with them.

Beyond those events, Lucy extracted other images — orders from Mallory to eliminate several people, some off-world, all to get resources for Vanh to use.

Darian nodded, satisfied. Now they had solid proof that could incriminate this family on several planets across the universe. Also...

Darian turned to Camille and handed everything to her.

She took it, and he looked her in the eyes and said calmly, "See for yourself everything she did. After that, you’ll decide the proper punishment. The three of us won’t complain about your decision."

Lucy took a deep breath and agreed. Lucius agreed too.
