Chapter 561: Calamitous Combination

Darian faced that massive army of Three-Eyed Ravens with a cold expression. With an emotionless voice, he said slowly:

"I’ve got no enmity with your race. And I didn’t kill any of you directly, or actually do anything wrong. You were the ones who tried to trick me. Anyway... I won’t waste any more words; everyone’s got their own eyes to see. Whoever attacks me, be ready to die."

Darian had to speak, because he could feel the shared karma of most of those people. There was no such thing as a good or bad race, only people, and some let themselves be influenced by those with no scruples.

"Bullshit! No Three-Eyed Raven is a coward or a fool! You malicious human! Everyone saw your blatant theft and schemes!" the Emperor roared.

Niara and Alear narrowed their eyes.

"How dare you..." Niara spat the words, overflowing with extreme hatred.

Alear also had a terrifying expression, something that left Darian stunned; he had never seen her like that. He could only sigh. That Emperor was dragging his own race into calamity.

Darian said nothing else. He simply jumped upward, and the two followed him side by side.

He reached the top of that dome-shaped barrier. Then he waved his hand, opening it.

The three walked out calmly from above. Immediately, the millions of Three-Eyed Ravens formed a massive encirclement in every direction around them.

It was a circular formation, with the trio in the center.

The Emperor commanded them toward complete annihilation, giving no chance for Darian to escape with all those things.

"USE EVERYTHING!" he roared, and in that same instant, the three eyes of everyone there pulsed with a blazing light.

From their bodies, all the power accumulated in their cores burst out. Their movement was the simplest and most overwhelming possible: they would attack from every direction with raw, concentrated power, all aimed at a single central point.

Of course, the resulting level of destruction would hit them as well. But those were the three energies of life, which they fully controlled. They could cancel most of the explosion, surviving with heavy injuries. To eliminate those targets, it was worth it.

In a second, the whole planet began to shine. If someone could see from space, it would look like a sun had been born in the center of the planet.

The Spiritual Guardians who weren’t with Darian and the Twilight Owls immediately fled in desperation. The level of power and explosion would be enough to destroy a huge area of the planet.

There had never been records of something like this happening, so no one knew how the inscription left by the Divinities would react to it. Maybe it would protect people, maybe not; better not risk it, so they started running.

Those who were with Darian looked at the light, clenching their fists tightly, not knowing what to do. His orders before were to stay in place until he called them. Everyone took a frightened deep breath but chose to trust him and stay.

Darian didn’t move, remaining beside Alear. Niara huffed, and her whole body emitted a peculiar glow. It was like an aura that distorted space, wrapping around her.

Any Spiritual Guardian would understand the meaning of that immediately. It wasn’t a common spatial distortion — it was a spiritual root releasing its power, more specifically, the heavenly laws of the world being distorted by a blessing.

"DIE!!"

The Emperor waved in command, and in that moment, they all fired at the same time.

A wave of astral winds spread through the entire planet. The light of the world went out.

But...

There was no explosion.

One second later, everything vanished.

It seemed completely normal, as if nothing had happened.

The people nearby looked toward the center of it all. There, they saw the millions of Three-Eyed Ravens still floating, frozen in place, still in formation. Then...

"AAAAAAAAH!"

A distorted roar, not too deep, clearly coming from a female throat, echoed like thunder.

*RUMBLE!!*

A massive explosion, followed by a mist of blood and death, washed over everyone.

Darian and Alear stood there calmly, watching Niara alone, tearing through all the enemies in Berserker mode.

This tactic of encirclement and brute-force destruction was something very common for that race; it was well recorded in the Rainbow Cranes’ library. So Darian figured that the Emperor, after becoming furious and fearful of Darian, would choose their most reliable and powerful method.

In the end, Niara devoured everything for herself, happily accepting that power.

*BOOM!*

The Emperor of the Three-Eyed Ravens was completely stunned, unable to think in the face of what he had just witnessed.

In that instant, a dragoness, completely in frenzy, rushed straight at him. The sensation of death surrounding him was so solid that his instincts reacted before his thoughts could.

*BOOM!*

Everyone there was ancient, and most were at the peak of cultivation in the universe. After her first attack — where a hundred people died — everyone reacted, trying to flee.

The Emperor appeared covered in blood in the middle of the mist. He survived by a hair, but everyone around him vanished.

"RUN!" he screamed in desperation. He had no idea what was happening, but he knew that if they didn’t run, they would all die.

"AAAAAAAAH!"

Niara roared, making everyone on the planet feel a chill in their spine. And those in the skies had never felt so terrified in their lives.

The roar wasn’t just frenzy — it was a direct attack on the enemies’ souls. They were being suppressed without even realizing it.

She wouldn’t let them escape easily. With each attack, hundreds died in brutal ways.

Explosions and lots of blood rained from the skies. Everyone on the planet looked upward, completely frozen.

For those who had met Darian recently, seeing him lead and make decisions, they felt like he was the center of everything and the one who was truly powerful. But that Dragoness who was always near him... was she really that terrifying on her own?

Darian wasn’t even moving, and she was the one facing millions of powerful figures alone... making them flee with tears in their eyes, like they were crying out for their parents in desperation.

Now people realized she really was his partner, not just a pretty face. No one could compare or even come close; the two of them were truly a calamitous combination.

Niara moved extremely fast and attacked without any gap between blows, like a machine gun. She was deliberately trying to kill as many as possible.

Even though there were millions... they tried unleashing their strength to run in opposite directions, but their souls were being affected by a terrifying power, making them very slow. Some couldn’t even move.

Her attacks affected the mind and shattered defenses. And everyone she locked onto in a wide area silently suffered a kind of soul attack, like a poison that made their energy circulate extremely slowly.

Because of that, in one minute, she had already wiped out one-third of them all.

But there was no helping it; they eventually managed to escape the planet.

Even if Darian wanted to stop them and stepped in to help, the Emperor would certainly order a large number to sacrifice themselves so he and others could run. In the end, maybe they’d kill only two-thirds of them.

Doing that would be needlessly cruel and wouldn’t change anything. After all, Darian was sure that only the average Three-Eyed Ravens — the ones who needed to temper themselves on that planet before the Convention — were there.

The others would probably come only near the end, to try crossing into the final test, since they’d gain nothing by staying on the third layer.

As for the vice-emperor Galteus, he was still young, so he wasn’t the strongest of the race. He came early to get some advantage over the others. But neither he nor any of their race had any real hope of getting inside that place.

All the Three-Eyed Ravens who managed to escape the planet were radiating complete despair and terror.

They quickly took out their vessels and shot back toward their homes without even looking back.

In the end, a little less than half were wiped out by a single person.

Niara was still roaring as she searched for targets. She had absorbed a lot, a lot of power, and her Berserker mode was far from ending.

Darian took a step and appeared behind her.

Niara didn’t move or react — even without reasoning, Darian was everything except a threat to her. She felt a hand touch her head, then her body froze.

In seconds, Darian moved all the accumulated power in her body into her three cores.

Before receiving the technique and creating those cores, doing that was impossible. After activating Berserker mode, she would have had to burn everything. But now, Darian could help place all the excess power inside the cores and seal it there.

Niara came back to reality.

She turned, looking around, and then, up above, she still felt the spatial fluctuations of the people escaping. She narrowed her eyes and her beautiful face twisted, "Damn it, I let them escape..."

"It’s fine. There was no point trying to kill all the ants. Their anthill isn’t going anywhere anyway." Darian murmured calmly.

"No! Those bastards are going to spread across their whole race and the universe that Dan is a malicious thief." she said coldly.

"Dan didn’t let me attack and help," Alear approached, murmuring, with an equally terrible expression. She turned to Darian, "We can’t let people slander you like that!"

Darian huffed. "Whatever... my reputation..." He stopped, swallowing the words when he saw the sharp look from both of them.

They hated the idea of others speaking badly about him. They knew him, and they knew exactly what kind of person Darian was, always protecting others and trying to do the right thing at all costs.

The Twilight Owls were sinister, and everyone in the universe knew that, harboring a silent hatred toward them. Because of that, no one in the universe would say Darian was the bad guy for stealing from them. But the Three-Eyed Ravens were different.

Niara took a deep breath, her face a little pale. Darian quickly changed the subject: "Let’s take a break, I brought a lot of food..."

Darian was already getting pretty experienced with this and always carried a huge stock of food.

Niara’s eyes regained their shine... and beside her, Alear — who shouldn’t be hungry at all, since both had eaten as much as they could before leaving — also got excited, clearly planning to join her.

Quickly, they all landed on the planet. In the end, nothing on the surface had been affected, and the inscription was still functioning normally.

They landed on the third ring, and Darian laid a cloth on the metallic ground. They sat down, and he began taking out things he had in the spatial ring... without stopping.

When he finished, Niara stared directly into his eyes. No words were exchanged, and Darian felt like she was reading even his thoughts with that look.

He didn’t dare say he had no more. He couldn’t lie to her. So he huffed and pulled out another ring full of food... then another... and another... on the fourth one, they finally stopped, making him sigh in relief.

He naïvely thought all that would last two or three emergency meals. But they ate absolutely everything he had. Still, seeing the satisfied expressions on their faces, he could only feel calm and relaxed.
