Damned Healer-Chapter 560: How So?
"What the hell are you laughing at?!" Galteus roared furiously, channeling all his power. He was ready to attack at any moment.
"I’m laughing because I’m gonna get that spear. What? Can’t I laugh? Oh, what’s with that posture? You gonna attack me now? Are you stupid?!" Darian pointed at Galteus with a suspicious expression.
Galteus recovered instantly. Fearing that Darian might discover the truth, he quickly said, "I thought you were backing out of the deal. If you tricked me into handing over my race’s treasure, I wouldn’t let you escape."
"Tch, ridiculous, are you doubting my character? I never go around causing trouble, but I don’t run from it either," Darian said with disdain.
He quickly stored everything he’d received. At that moment, Galteus and everyone of his race grew anxious. Their hearts pounded with nervousness.
Then Darian took a deep breath and waved toward the barrier. It rippled quickly, then opened a hole. Right after, Darian gestured for Galteus to walk through calmly.
Galteus took quick steps, crossing into that place. Darian followed him, and the two moved toward the treasures.
Alear and Niara were in a corner on the opposite side, just watching quietly, making Galteus feel more certain he wouldn’t be attacked by them.
When they reached the spear and the scale, all the Three-Eyed Raven grew tense.
The immortal barrier appeared again in front of them. To take those things, the Heavenly Beast had to use its control and Bloodline. That was the only way.
"Use your Bloodline to the max, then leave the rest to me." Darian spoke calmly.
Galteus took a deep breath. His Bloodline lit up to its limit as he moved toward the immortal barrier.
The barrier rippled with the Bloodline’s approach. That was a subtle recognition that he was a valid person.
At that moment, Darian waved and activated his domain. That tiny ripple was enough for him to freeze everything for one second.
Galteus wasn’t an idiot and felt that. He immediately pushed his Bloodline through the barrier, penetrating it completely.
*Crack!*
The test for the Heavenly Beasts was exactly that: breaking through the barrier using their Bloodline. With Darian’s help, that guy did it. Soon, the barrier shattered completely.
"Hahahaha!" Galteus laughed euphorically.
Without even thinking twice, he rushed forward, ready to grab everything. But when he got closer...
**BUZZ!**
Space distorted around Galteus. In that second, he saw a small object buried in the ground right below him. Then...
His world spun, and the light went out.
"What?!"
It lasted one second, then the light returned. He looked ahead and saw the planet surrounded by colorful runes in the very far distance. Looking around, he realized he was floating in space.
He roared in fury, activating all his power and returning to the planet.
Inside, everyone saw that happen right before their eyes and started shouting curses.
Darian just ignored them, crouching down and picking up the spatial Artifact from the ground. Alear and Niara ran toward him with excited expressions.
"HOW DARE YOU!!!"
When Galteus returned, his screams echoed like thunder across the planet.
Darian turned to him, now trapped outside the barrier again. His lips moved slowly.
"Since you rejected my kindness, don’t blame me for taking everything. You think I’m stupid? Inside your core, the Emperor placed all the power of the other Heavenly Fusion Seed. You planned to burn it all to cause a huge explosion and grab both items while running away."
"STOP MAKING UP ABSURD LIES!!!" Galteus snapped back.
Darian scoffed. Awel had returned to him long before Galteus came back, and told him every detail of the conversation the Emperor had with Galteus. So he set up the trap, asking Alear for help, since that race was watching him the entire time.
Alear was smart and did everything perfectly, calmly moving the earth and positioning the Artifact. And Darian always carried a few Artifacts in his inventory, since those things were pretty useful in certain situations.
"Yeah, really absurd. How did he say it again? Oh, right: This pathetic human has sharp senses, but our race’s secret power can seal everything without any fluctuation. You just need to use this technique...."
Darian started describing, word for word, everything the Emperor had said to Galteus — including a peculiar technique using their Bloodline to make everything happen perfectly.
The expression of all the Three-Eyed Ravens changed completely. Their whole plan to scheme against Darian... had he really exposed everything and heard it all? How so?
As a result, an uproar broke out in the crowd.
The Twilight Owls started mocking them after hearing the details of the technique their Emperor had mentioned. That was something easy to verify, because it was an old, simple technique that was rarely used. A foreigner couldn’t possibly know it. That made it obvious that Darian had managed to spy on their conversation.
"Hehe, stupid clowns." Niara laughed.
Only now did the whole race realize they had walked right into a trap. Their plans were already perfectly aligned with Darian’s. Now that they thought about it, they could clearly see that everything had been one big setup from the start.
"Hey! I really was going to split things properly if you guys hadn’t tried anything." Darian said quickly.
"YOU MALICIOUS BASTARD!!!" Obviously, none of the Three-Eyed Ravens believed him.
But when Darian turned to Niara and Alear, he saw in their eyes that both were certain he really meant it. To them, Darian was anything but malicious; if these people had acted correctly, even if he lost a great opportunity, he wouldn’t do something wrong.
Darian scoffed. It didn’t matter whether the others believed him or not. Only the ones who mattered needed to believe.
"Darian, you dare trick us?!" roared a loud, imposing voice. The Emperor of the Three-Eyed Raven had come personally to demand an explanation.
Darian nodded politely: "No, *you* tricked me first. I wanted to cooperate with good intentions, but you wanted my life. You were the ones who broke our agreement, so I have the right to keep your deposit. Well, now our contract is over, so we can go our separate ways safe and sound. Thanks!"
"What nonsense! The Three-Eyed Raven race will not rest until you’re dead!" the Emperor roared. He looked like he had gone mad.
He clenched his teeth in rage. But he could only stare at Darian with a murderous glare, as if he wanted to bite him to death.
At that moment, a massive army of Three-Eyed Ravens surrounded the entire planetary barrier.
All eyes were on Darian. After tricking them and taking so many treasures, was he planning to hide there forever?
"You kids shouldn’t have such a bad temper. Look at me! Even though you plotted against me, I’m not even a little angry." Darian mocked, moving completely indifferent.
His words almost made the Emperor cough up blood. Why the hell would Darian be angry when he was the one who stole so many treasures?
Slowly, Darian walked toward the spear and the scale. Then he waved his hand, and both items disappeared right before everyone’s hateful, burning eyes.
Alear and Niara were trembling, hands over their mouths, trying not to burst into laughter in that moment of "seriousness".
After that...
Everyone watched in confusion as Darian moved deeper inside.
He approached the large spine bone of that beast. That was the exact center of its body. Then...
"!"
Everyone held their breath and felt their hearts stop for a moment.
Right before their eyes, all the bones — which looked like a small city — simply vanished.
"Big gains, big gains..." Darian muttered excitedly and cheerfully.
Darian had claimed every treasure and even the entire remaining Primordial Beast, making the spectacle that had existed there for countless years disappear just like that.
This land, where countless people had come to strengthen themselves before the Convention, would no longer exist after some time. The ground was still as hard as metal, and the inscription with the pressure still remained. However, most of the place’s power came from the energy sealed within the bones.
They were the bones of a Primordial Beast; they weren’t something purely physical like the bones of ordinary mortals. It was more like infinitely small runes of primordial energy joined together.
The inscription had been consuming that energy slowly to maintain the place. All the flesh and other parts had disappeared long ago, leaving only the bones, which were the greatest concentration of that Primordial Beast’s power.
There was still a large amount of energy accumulated in the inscription, but in a few millennia, it would all fade without the source of power.
Darian stopped beside Niara and Alear. Both smiled, satisfied with the flawless work.
Then the three of them faced the army of millions of Three-Eyed Ravens outside the barrier.
