Damned Healer-Chapter 587: Greed And Arrogance
Almost immediately after Darian's voice faded, two spatial channels opened in opposite directions in the sky. From inside them, hundreds of figures quickly emerged.
Darian's and the twins' eyes grew even colder. On one side was Alexandra, the Empress of the Solar Federation Empire. On the other, a tall man with sharp features, the Emperor of the Aurora Coalition Empire.
Both arrived accompanied by the most powerful people under their command. Some had nine rings, others only eight.
At that moment, Blaine also appeared, along with all the most powerful military officers of his Empire. They all moved, forming a circle around Darian and the twins, while keeping a safe distance.
Their expressions were extremely tense. They weren't idiots and knew that the current Darian could kill them with ease. Even so, they had a few certainties.
The first came from their knowledge of the secret power that existed in the former Aeternum Atlantis Empire. They had watched the recordings of the deaths of those two immortals from several angles and were sure Darian only managed that because he used all of that power. In other words, he didn't have the raw strength to kill an immortal on his own.
But someone with nine rings from Earth really wasn't a match for him.
They had no idea about the massive evolution he went through after returning from Aurix's universe, much less about his fight against Vanh.
To them, Darian was still almost the same as when he returned after being away for ten years. Still terrifying and absolutely abnormal, something so absurd that the entire universe feared him, but there were limits to what someone with seven rings could do. At least, that was what they believed.
"Young Darian, what do you mean by that?" Blaine asked in a restrained tone.
Darian locked his gaze onto him, sending chills down his spine.
"It's exactly what you heard. I came to put an end to all this division and chaos that you Emperors created. From today on, Earth will have no Emperors and no divisions. As for you… I'll judge you according to your crimes."
"Don't be ridiculous. Earth has always had conflicts and divisions throughout history, but we have always progressed and moved forward. When there were no Spiritual Guardians, we had technology, something few planets across many universes ever developed," Alexandra snarled harshly.
Blaine followed up, shifting to a calmer tone: "Right now, we're neither the worst nor the best planet in the universe. We're in the middle, and that's not a bad thing. As for our methods, they're inherited from our ancestors and don't seem wrong. After all, we created someone like you, didn't we? That proves how efficient everything is. We're always rising, and the High Humans keep advancing little by little."
"You hypocritical son of a bitch," Lucy's resentful voice rang out. "How can you say that while enjoying a peaceful and safe life, when practically everyone on Earth lives miserably?!"
Lucy and Lucius hated Blaine to the bone. In the past, he swore to help Darian, but betrayed them by attacking the clan in his absence and killing countless innocent people.
"Someone born and raised to be a tiger won't act like a lamb. Making so many people suffer just to create more Spiritual Guardians creates a chaotic environment and teaches everyone to live only for themselves. Because of that, everyone who reaches the top through this method becomes a shameless bastard like you. So the rule over Earth is a direct reflection of this rotten system," Lucius said, spitting the words with cold rage.
"You talked about the past, right? Historically, things like this have happened many times. Whenever a population becomes corrupted, leadership causes everything to collapse. That means that in every real chance Earth had to rise and change everyone's lives for the better, the greed and stupid actions of people like you destroyed everything, because you don't want to benefit other Empires, only your own. In short, the ends don't justify the means, and planting good seeds so future generations can stay on the right path is the only solution for the future. This so-called rise of yours is nothing but an empty illusion."
Lucius explained everything logically, using Earth's past as an example, something Blaine and many others had studied but chose to ignore out of sheer arrogance.
They believed those primitive humans were simply idiots. As Spiritual Guardians, they weren't even human anymore; they were High Humans. They had power, artifacts, and could even travel between universes. Things like that couldn't affect them.
Lucy added coldly, "You want to use my brother as an example? Don't be stupid. He's like nature itself, manifesting to eliminate a virus; a hero born in the middle of suffering to wipe you out. Not a product of something good and natural."
Blaine snorted. "Life isn't black and white, kids. Everything is made of shades of gray. Everything is built on suffering at some point. We have to commit a lesser evil to benefit a few, who will then lead the population forward. What you want is a fairy tale, without conflict, effort, or people serving as stepping stones for a leader to be forged; nobody gets anywhere like that. By trying to benefit everyone equally, you'll drag everyone into misery. Do you really see yourselves as the world's savior heroes with such childish ideas?"
"Indeed," Darian said calmly. "I'm no hero. I'd rather be the executioner and the evil of the world. When I don't like something, I just destroy everything; things are much simpler that way. Anyway… are they going to take long?"
Darian finished while staring at them. The three Emperors' eyes widened. They were just trying to buy time with all that talk.
But at that moment, space trembled in every direction around Earth.
Quickly, hundreds of spatial channels opened. From inside them, countless humanoids emerged and immediately entered Earth.
"Oh? You threw all the rules out the window, huh?" Darian smiled sarcastically. The established rule of non-interference between planets had been completely ignored.
The twins looked at those people with fury. There were nearly ten thousand individuals, all members of the Wube family, coming from other planets across the universe.
At that Convention, because of the limiter that required having one blessed individual as leader and only five ordinary ones, that family didn't send all of its strongest members, keeping a small part behind. Even so, 80% were sent… and died.
Now, the remaining 20%, all with nine rings, had gathered on Earth.
The mission where almost all of them died had ended recently. Because of that, the enemies of the Wube family still hadn't found out about it and hadn't launched an attack to wipe them out.
"YOU! What happened to my son?!" a voice full of fury echoed.
Darian turned and looked at that elf. It was Vahlur, the former leader of the Wube family and Vanh's father.
"Do I really need to say the obvious? Unfortunately, we had to settle our differences and end everything."
"That's impossible!" Vahlur roared, overcome with disbelief.
With Blaine's call, the members of the Wube family found themselves without leadership and immediately contacted their former leader, who took command once again.
"Fuck it. Let's end this waste of time. I was just waiting for you," Darian said without emotion. "It'll just be my siblings and me. We don't have any hidden plans or anything like that. We'll clean our own house and rebuild it ourselves. As for you… do you really think a few thousand people with nine rings are enough to stop us?"
The three Emperors of Earth grew tense. Darian clearly could kill someone with nine rings from Earth, but the people of that family were all above average in terms of power. And there were ten thousand of them.
As for these three… one clearly had seven rings, and the other two…
The Emperors and all the newcomers felt the twins' aura and changed expression. At first, doubt arose within them. They couldn't sense the flow of power from the twins' rings.
But at worst, even if they had nine rings, it still shouldn't be a problem. Darian was the main anomaly. If he had nine rings, everyone would be absolutely terrified, not because of these two.
Thinking all of this through in an instant, Vahlur reached a decision. He had to do something. If Vanh really had died along with all those family members, they were finished.
But if they could at least injure Darian, get any information about his power, or about what happened during that mission, he would already have something to negotiate with the three Spiritual Sovereigns.
All he wanted was to ask for protection on their planet. Something so small wouldn't be a problem for any of the three. As for this family… their own lives mattered more than anything.
"HAHAHAHA! Do you think you're God?!"
The elf roared in mockery, exuding absurd confidence.
The three Emperors and the members of the Wube family felt a bit of relief. This elf was someone extremely respected by everyone and had never failed before. If he was calm, it meant he must have many hidden methods to win.
But, obviously, Vahlur was just acting to project confidence to the others.
Vahlur continued, "I've heard for a long time that you're a reckless madman, and you live up to your reputation! Do you think the Wube family only has our Spiritual Technique, and that you can defeat us just because you don't suffer from it? Hahaha…"
Darian looked at that elf and only laughed inwardly, easily understanding what he was planning. Think you can run away? Only in your dreams.
As soon as his voice fell silent, Darian took out a dagger, which pulsed with an intense bluish light.
Lucy clenched her fists, and Lucius drew his saber with a sharp sound.
All the enemies immediately turned serious.
"Enough bullshit! Everyone, KILL THEM!" Vahlur commanded with a roar.
Darian and the twins moved in three opposite directions.
At the same time, the ten thousand members of the Wube family, along with all the most powerful people of Earth, charged together, attacking from every direction.
All the ordinary population of Earth was horrified. In despair, they ran, trying to find a safe place. But… a battle on this scale made it impossible for them to protect themselves.
"ATTACK!!"
At that instant, all of Earth was lit up by an intense light.
More than two thousand mages used their offensive blessings at the same time. Flames, lightning, winds, strange and powerful energies, all shot through the skies like dragons, engulfing the three.
A massive force joined together to form a continuous and incredibly concentrated attack. Its combined power was enough to wipe out an entire army of thousands with nine rings at the highest level, let alone just three people.
They held nothing back.
But that day, they would learn that the ones they had crossed paths with… were people even immortals would flee from in despair. Let alone them.
