Damned Healer-Chapter 598: Seize Every Opportunity
Darian took a deep breath. His body was so hot it felt like he was boiling from the inside. An abnormal and terrifying sensation took over him. It was as if, with a single movement, he could flip the heavens and the earth.
All nine powers connected perfectly.
On his forehead, nine pulsating marks appeared, intertwining with one another. They were like a nine-pointed star, each part radiating a different power. At the center, there was a perfect circle, emanating a power without color or form, calm yet at the same time furious. It was like Yin and Yang, two facets coexisting at the same time.
Darian gestured forward. Alear and Niara were slightly behind him, at his side.
"Break."
Darian's voice sounded calm, but it was like a decree of the heavens, or a divine command.
Outside the inscription.
Everyone heard those words, throughout the entire universe.
Immediately, all living beings felt every hair on their bodies stand on end. It was as if they had just heard something forbidden. It was an instinctive fear, the same as fearing the wrath of the heavens.
Then...
**RUMBLE!!**
A terrifying sound echoed, but there was no explosion.
The three enemy Spiritual Sovereigns and everyone nearby froze.
The entire inscription and its runes began to crack, as if it were a spherical porcelain vase that had been completely shattered and glued back together. At the slightest breath, it looked like it would explode.
Inside the inscription.
"Now!"
Niara shouted, and Alear moved in perfect sync with her. The primordial power coming from the two attacked through the cracks, immediately connecting with the primordial power used to create all of that.
The eyes of the three Spiritual Sovereigns bulged as they felt something even more terrifying.
The two immediately formed a direct connection with them.
"DIE!!!"
A ferocious roar erupted at once.
A five-colored light, as strong as the sun, flowed out through the cracks of the inscription.
*Blinding Break!*
Darian felt his entire body shatter, and blood poured from every possible place. But all five powers came together under his command and struck.
This time, not like a destructive blade, but like a force born from the world itself; just like the Lightning of Life, from that Celestial Annihilation.
It surged forward through the channel Niara and Alear had created.
"NO!!"
**Squelch!**
A grotesque, visceral sound of flesh splitting apart, with blood spraying in all directions, echoed along with a massive wave of multicolored energy.
Inside the barrier, Lucy and everyone else widened their eyes.
When the chaotic space finally stabilized, everyone saw the scene in complete silence.
Reignar and Guren were now just spirits, with a faint golden and immortal aura.
As for Haekla... only a point of light, almost fading away, existed near the other two.
"Lucky bitch," Lucy spat. Haekla had survived by a hair's breadth. And since she was an immortal, she could still recover.
The three Spiritual Sovereigns...
...those terrifying and seemingly invincible enemies, had their bodies destroyed. Worse still, their souls, which had already been one-third destroyed earlier by Darian, causing all their weakness, were now in an even worse state. Those two shouldn't have even 5% of their total power left, and Haekla was hard to even measure.
A single person. A human from a mediocre planet, with only seven rings. He created all of this directly and, as a result, left those three in a miserable and pathetic state.
Many brave Spiritual Guardians inside the barrier were still recording everything. That battle would definitely go down in history.
*BOOM!*
The inscription finally exploded violently, releasing a primordial wave in all directions.
But...
The power of the world's laws that were being distorted there did not lose strength or go out of control. Instead, a collapsed and chaotic spatial channel was born.
It was like a huge open throat, and from within it came a furious spatial power.
A terrifying noise sounded from inside. It moved all the space of the universe, resonating throughout it.
Everyone panicked. Darian, Niara, and Alear were inside!
As for the three Spiritual Sovereigns, they were so weak and injured that they took advantage of that moment, with space distorted, to escape.
Reignar and Guren moved the maximum immortal power they could. A spatial channel appeared, and one of them grabbed Haekla's soul fragment. Then they quickly entered it and vanished.
Aurix, Caliris, and Painita didn't have time to react. But those three enemies were in a terrible state. This was the best moment to attack them and keep up the pressure.
That horrifying hole began to tremble and shrink. Lucy left the barrier, not knowing what to do. Until...
'We're fine. Take care of everything for a while, it might take some time for us to come back.'
Suddenly, a voice echoed in her mind, making her stop in her tracks.
"..."
Quickly, everything returned to normal. The channel had disappeared, as well as Earth's barrier.
However, Lucy was now sure that this wouldn't kill them. She remembered some things Darian had told her about the world. And, as she felt the terrifying power coming from that hole...
"That was a wound in our universe... and that scary power came from the underworld..."
Lucy understood immediately. The most likely possibility was that they had been taken away, and Darian would find a way to send them to some other universe, in a way that not even an immortal could manage.
***
Darian sent the message in the very last second before everything closed.
After that, their world was swallowed by darkness. But... the three of them could feel countless fragments flying through the air.
They were sucked into the chaotic flow of space and carried into a black world, with no light or life. And unfortunately, it was far from empty.
"RIGHT!"
Niara shouted, sensing something instinctively. Darian was in the middle, with both of them clinging to his arms. The three moved left together and felt only a cutting wind pass just centimeters away from them.
Darian was tense. They were in the underworld. That was the most dangerous place of all, beyond anything that could exist in the universes.
This place was a world destroyed by wars of the past, where not even an Immortal could survive or cross through it to reach another universe.
Right now, he could only trust his instincts and the sense of danger shared by him and Niara to dodge those things, since those spatial blades were invisible.
But they were being carried in a direction within that void.
It was as if they had fallen into a river and were being dragged by a current impossible to escape. Like rocks floating in a violent current, carrying immense power.
"We have to endure it. This power came from the laws of the world, and I'm sure Heaven's Will can manipulate it. It'll take us somewhere we're meant to go, but we have to survive the crossing."
Darian spoke quickly, and the two held on to him even tighter.
This was a golden opportunity. Darian hadn't been caught off guard by this, and he knew this outcome was the most likely one. Even so, he had jumped without a parachute.
Heaven's Will couldn't act directly in his life without a good reason. But intentionally guiding that power he himself controlled seemed simple, and couldn't really be considered a serious rule break.
Soon, Darian was certain that this would take him to another universe and to an opportunity. Something that might be impossible to happen during a mission, since there had to be a reason for Spiritual Guardians to go to a universe.
"BELOW!"
Darian roared, and the three rose upward, dodging something invisible and deadly.
It didn't stop coming. They kept fighting against the current, being pulled and dodging nonstop, together.
After escaping hundreds of those spatial blades for nearly an hour, Darian felt they were still very far away. But the three of them were burning out fast.
If this kept up, it wouldn't take long before they were crushed by that chaotic flow.
There wasn't the slightest light, not even a hint of hope in that endless darkness. It was like falling into an infinite cycle of death.
Yet, for some reason, even in that darkness, he didn't feel much panic. Instead, he felt a deep calm. It was as if that darkness itself gave him a sense of safety.
Suddenly, Darian closed his eyes.
At that moment, deep within his soul, a unique power surfaced.
It was the Origin energy of all souls, a secret force no one should be able to use.
A formless, colorless energy flowed out of him and immediately covered the three of them.
Within that darkness, Darian felt a refreshing, calming sensation. At the same time, the dark world gradually became clearer. He began to see many runes spinning around him.
Those runes formed an infinite sea, and he saw translucent crescent-shaped blades rotating around that sea. Those were the spatial blades.
"!"
Darian suddenly saw a gigantic spatial blade coming straight at them, and his hair stood on end. The previous spatial blades were only a few meters long, but this one was hundreds of meters long. It looked like it was coming directly for them. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
With a sudden motion, Darian pulled the two clinging to him, and they dodged to the side.
The spatial blade whizzed past them.
It wasn't particularly fast, but it carried an unstoppable force. Worse still, it had a powerful suction force. If Darian hadn't seen it and acted fast, the three of them would have been pulled in and dragged closer, unable to escape.
"That could easily kill Immortals, right?" Alear murmured, feeling a chill. That kind of power was beyond her understanding.
The most terrifying part was that it came silently, without any warning. If even the smallest particle of that touched them, even with ten thousand lives, all of them would be lost there.
Darian was burning through that power extremely fast. He focused it on his eyes and senses.
Looking around, he could see far and in every direction. He even saw spatial blades thousands of kilometers long, slowly rotating. When he saw them, he almost jumped in shock.
This was the chaotic spatial flow of the underworld.
This was a world of absolute death.
It was no wonder even Immortals would be crushed if they dared enter this place. As for Darian, he was using an absurd Cheat to get through it.
One hour later...
"Is this going to take even longer?!"
Darian exclaimed, truly tense now. All his power was slowly being drained, even while using the bare minimum. Once it ran out, he'd fall into a half-dead state and would have to rely on Niara to wake him. After that, the two of them would have to isolate themselves so he could recover.
However, he had no idea where that current was taking them, or when it would end. All he could do was stay alert to his surroundings.
*BOOM!*
After an indeterminate amount of time, a gigantic vortex appeared not far from them, and the chaotic spatial flow exploded. A massive blade was destroyed by it, making them finally notice its presence.
Ahead of them, Darian only now noticed something strange. It was a region where space had collapsed into itself. It was like seeing a huge, distorted hole in the middle of space. Of course, only he could see it.
"A black hole! And another universe!"
He said, relieved. The two of them smiled, excited.
The three slowly drew closer.
Darian took a deep breath. He didn't know what was waiting for him, but he knew he couldn't take too long. He had to seize every opportunity that came up and return, to make the most of the time he had gained.
But he had no idea how he would come back.
Still, feeling the warmth of those two firmly against him, he felt calmer.
Suddenly, space trembled and exploded, startling the two of them. Before they could even scream, a powerful suction force dragged them out of the chaotic spatial flow.
