Chapter 643: Better Master

It was a vast hall, empty of anything except eight gigantic skeletons on one side. They radiated Nether power and an extremely high-level curse. They were incredibly powerful Nether Beasts from the past, possibly with cultivation very close to that of a Divinity.

"So you came here because of them?" Darian asked, realizing that the two of them had come to see those skeletons.

"Only figured it out now? It’s way too late," the muscular man sneered. "You don’t even know what kind of place this is, yet you barged in anyway. You’ve condemned yourself to death."

The red-haired man added, "Since you’re about to die, I’ll help you become a ghost who understands how he died. These bodies belong to the eight descendants of the Divine Nether Beast sealed in the city. Even though they died, they managed to seal part of their souls inside their cores, along with part of their pure bloodline. When their father returns, all of them can revive. I have the technique to communicate with them. To help revive their father, they’ll give me a portion of their bloodline power. Now that a fool like you has shown up too, all that awaits you is death and despair."

"That’s impossible... the treasures you mentioned are just these eight skeletons?" Darian said seriously, staring at the red-haired man. "That weird bear-man, I get him, but you’re a pure human. Do you really want to corrupt your body by adding the power of these brainless beasts? Are you stupid?"

He sneered. "Fool, why would I want to stay just a human when I can become something far greater?"

"What an idiot..." Darian snorted coldly.

In fact, humans were somewhat weak at birth and could remain that way forever if they didn’t push themselves to an extreme level. It was as if the laws of the world were testing the soul placed in a human body, to see how far it could go through its own effort and will.

Unlike other powerful races, which were born with stable powers ready to be used instinctively, every human had to go through brutally harsh internal and external battles throughout their life.

The effort and study they had to devote to everything were immense. But in return, no race dared to underestimate them, because their ability to learn, create, and accomplish almost anything was unique. A human was always unpredictable, and even one who looked fragile and easy to kill could still surprise you.

This red-haired man clearly didn’t understand the true strength of his own race. After seeing the natural power of the Nether Beasts, he began to covet it without reflecting on what he already had that was valuable. He was the typical idiot who could only see and desire what others had, never valuing what he himself was given.

Being called an idiot, the red-haired man roared and charged. "You’re just a frog at the bottom of a well! I’ll tear you apart!"

*BOOM!*

The weapons clashed. Darian didn’t even move, while the red-haired man was blown backward like a leaf in the wind.

In a direct clash, he was no match. Darian activated his Stellar Physique and a portion of his spiritual root power. He was testing new things, and his speed was so great that it created countless afterimages, completely confusing his opponent’s senses.

"Tear me apart?" Darian mocked, appearing right in front of the red-haired man. "Your techniques are amateurish."

Darian’s dagger struck like a storm. The red-haired man spat blood as he was slammed into one of the giant skeletons.

That was when the scene changed. The skeleton behind him moved! Lines of blood burst out of the skeleton, wrapping around the red-haired man like a cocoon.

*BOOM!*

Darian attacked, but was repelled by a crushing force and forced to retreat ten steps.

The red-haired man was being possessed by the power of the Nether Beast.

On the other side, the muscular man stood close to another skeleton. Nether energy seeped into his pores, making his aura explode.

"HAHAHA!" the muscular man laughed thunderously, falling into an insane frenzy.

Darian watched all of this with indifference. He sensed something even more interesting than those skeletons. A hidden power was sealing their souls, preventing them from reviving on their own.

It was a person, also watching everything around them...

’Master, I’m sure of it! What killed those eight was the ultimate power of Yin Earth, the one you taught me. I can feel traces of it on their skeletons. This is incredible!’

Tir spoke excitedly from inside the inventory. The power of the earth was known as the perfect balance between Yin and Yang.

When that balance was maintained, its defensive power was indeed one of its main strengths. People often underestimate the power of the earth because of this, but they are simply ignorant of its true potential.

Truly terrifying figures could break that balance and still maintain the characteristics and essence of the earth. When the Yang side was pushed to the extreme, Sacred Yang Earth was born, also known as the land of life or similar names.

What Tir could create by devouring bodies was very close to that power, but with unique traits. He was an anomaly capable of doing this instinctively, converting organic matter into that power.

On the opposite end, when the Yin power of the earth element was pushed to the absolute extreme, it created something terrifying known as *Anti-life*.

Anti-life, as the name suggests, was something capable of erasing any trace of life. It could kill immortals, gods, and demons with extreme ease. It was something that shouldn’t exist, and only the most powerful Primordial Earth Beast could use it: the Behemoth.

Darian knew all of this because the current Heaven’s Will had also managed to use that power. On his journey, he had taken over a body that possessed a pure Behemoth bloodline, and that power had helped him ascend to the peak of the world.

Tir was the only one who could give him that certainty. And now, Darian was convinced that whoever had done this to those figures was still partially alive.

However, that being was somewhat weak and was using all of its strength to keep the eight sealed. So, with those two idiots siphoning power from the skeletons, they were weakening it rapidly.

Should Darian compel them to seek the aid of the Eight, greatly weakening them, he might release that hidden figure—and perhaps find a better master for Tir.

*Rumble!*

At that moment, the floor of the hall cracked completely, like a spiderweb.

At the far end, on the opposite side of the hall, the ground split open, revealing a crystal that looked like an eye and emitted a strange purple aura.

Staring at that thing, Darian felt a chill run down his spine. Tir, inside the inventory, nearly jumped with excitement as he sensed the connection of earth power within it.

Eight black chains burst out of the crystal, binding the ankles of the eight skeletons.

The presence of the crystal changed everything.

Unexpectedly, the energy the two idiots were absorbing started getting sucked back into the skeletons. The crystal seal was kicking in, forcing them to recover it fast.

Darian let out a sinister laugh and walked toward the red-haired man, who was now shaking in terror.

"Weren’t you the one who said you’d tear me apart?" Darian tilted his head, judging where to cut first with Awel.

Without the power of the Nether Beasts, the two of them were nothing but prey.

Suddenly, both of them, in desperation, pulled out their strongest cards. Strange runes appeared on their Celestial Disks.

*Woooooosh!*

A wave of Void power slammed into the hall, making Darian step back in surprise.

They blasted Darian away and were also sure he was trapped. The two retreated and climbed onto the skeletons, activating their ultimate technique and the power of the Disk of Destiny. The black chains trembled and subtly lost strength.

The two were overjoyed and started communicating with the souls trapped there.

Darian was surrounded by a powerful, wild Void energy that locked him in the farthest area. It was high-level, but nowhere near as strong as the one he had faced when he was launched into the air; he didn’t even need to activate his primordial physique to endure it.

At the same time, he sensed the perceptions of those eight Nether Beasts analyzing him.

’Oh?’ Darian smiled and, to add a bit more spice, pulled out Eleri and Tir.

Awel and Eleri were excited to help their brother get something good. Without wasting time, the two activated their elemental powers and attacked furiously.

*BOOM!*

Blades of wind and water brutally tore through the Void power, exploding violently.

The two of them saw that and their eyes went wide, completely stunned. That secret card of theirs could even hold back the City Lord, one of the most powerful figures in the universe.

"Unite with our souls!" the two roared in unison.

The eight skeletons pulsed.

Darian held himself back from bursting into laughter. Those eight Nether Beasts tried to analyze his power and saw nothing, which left them dazed. Then, when he broke through the Void power, it became clear that he represented a threat to their very existence.

So the eight took advantage of the fact that the two idiots could remove part of the restrictions and granted them the maximum power they could.

The red-haired man and the muscular man changed completely.

Both of their skins turned pitch-black, their eyes became demon-red, and a cursed aura packed with power fused fully with them.

"DESTROY!!"

The two roared with a guttural, terrifying voice.

With a loud crash, they ignored Darian and locked onto the crystal at the back.

Darian shot forward to stop them.

He slashed at the red-haired man with Eleri. At the same time, Awel moved on her own, cutting the muscular man.

*BOOM!*

Both were forced back, each with a massive wound on their body.

The three of them were about fifty meters from the crystal at the back of the hall.

But... the two let out a completely deranged grunt and attacked again, not caring about their own bodies.

They had already completely lost consciousness and turned into puppets of those eight. They had been ordered to destroy the crystal and would do it, no matter the cost.

*BOOM!*

After another clash, the three were thrown back to opposite sides again. Before Darian could even regain his balance, those two, covered in blood, charged once more.

There was no technique or strategy involved. It was just a raw clash of forces.

Darian felt a force a thousand times greater crammed inside their bodies, like they were ticking time bombs.

Those two were so out of control that they didn’t use the power of a Primordial Chosen or even their weapons. Possibly, their only goal was to get close to the crystal and then explode with all the power they had received, but to make sure they damaged the crystal, they needed to get as close as possible.

*BOOM!! BOOM!!!*

After half a dozen clashes, unable to move forward, they stopped.

Darian felt a bad premonition from that. But...

’Master, everything’s ready!’

Tir’s voice rang out, and Darian turned around.

That boy had gone to the crystal to communicate when Darian pulled him out. At that moment, time seemed to freeze. Then, the space around Darian twisted, and he was instantly transported into the crystal.
