Delayed Passion: Miss Lynch's Unrequited Love-Chapter 49: Fierce Battle Situation
Just hearing the words "last night," Thea Lynch was already on the verge of losing it, let alone what he said after.
She tried her best to keep calm, her back tense, while her hand hidden in her pocket clenched into a fist.
It was like being repeatedly grilled over hot coals, the skin touched by his gaze felt a stinging burn.
"What nonsense is Silas talking."
He looked darkly, "What nonsense are you talking."
"I..."
He added, "I mean last night."
"!"
Thea Lynch was startled, he indeed remembered what happened last night. She didn’t really dare meet Ian Preston’s eyes, but they were too familiar with each other, afraid he’d notice her guilt, she could only brace herself and meet his gaze.
"I don’t really remember much about last night." She had also been drinking last night, though not as excessively as Ian, just a little.
At this point, she could only use this explanation to keep the peace.
Initially, she actually considered asking Ian what he meant, the kiss was truly ridiculous.
But soon reason prevailed, what good would asking do? She didn’t want any entanglements with him from the start, no matter the result of asking, it meant nothing to her, only adding trouble.
Better to just treat it as a mere drunken lapse. She thought it through, as long as Ian didn’t remember or pretended not to, it would be the best account for both.
But Ian, this person, insisted on making her uncomfortable, deliberately bringing up all the topics that should and shouldn’t be.
It was infuriating.
Her gaze moved away from the marks on his lip, she indeed bit him fiercely last night, but she didn’t want to admit it.
Ultimately, Thea Lynch ran off, and didn’t leave the lab the entire afternoon. She didn’t know when Ian left Stratus either. When she finished work, she saw in the company group chat that Silas Cheney had come to the company and left together with Ian.
——
On the sofa within the private room, Ian Preston sat in the middle, taking a cigarette from Silas’s hand.
"I’m just saying, Silas." As Silas lit a cigarette, he helped him analyze: "This time you really went too hard, somewhat bewildered, huh."
"With Thea Lynch’s temperament, huh, it’s a wonder she’d bother with you."
The overhead lighting flickered, the man lazily leaned against the chairback, his expression unclear. Silas stared at the scabbed spot on his lip for a few seconds, quietly retracting his gaze.
"To exaggerate, Silas can usually drink a thousand cups without getting drunk, why’d he lose his head yesterday?"
"This isn’t like your style."
If only Ian had been as direct years ago, there wouldn’t be such mess as there is now. Speaking of which, suddenly giving Thea such a strong dose now, will surely backfire.
"Nowadays, forget about just kissing, there are plenty that go straight to bed meeting. But Thea is different from those young girls."
Speaking up to here, Silas suddenly laughed, seeming a bit schadenfreude: "Wrong, Silas, according to that girl’s temperament, after kissing yesterday, she should’ve slapped you."
Silas: "Only bit you, you still got off lucky."
"..." Ian looked up, coolly glancing at him.
Silas wasn’t afraid of him, laughed so hard he couldn’t sit up straight.
At the private room entrance, there came noises, Silas’s laughter paused slightly, seeing the newcomer, he sneered: "Hey, our big lawyer is back."
The newcomer tugged at his tie, casually handed his suit jacket to the attendant, then stepped forward, respectfully greeting: "Silas."
"Hmm." Ian didn’t look up, just lightly tapped the cigarette on his fingertips, signaling him to sit.
Silas stretched his leg to kick the other’s pants, spitting: "Sean Bell, didn’t you see me?"
Sean Bell ignored him, sat in an empty seat, waving the attendant over to pour wine. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Silas slightly sneered, "Problematic."
Only after moistening his throat with a cup of wine did Sean Bell slowly join the conversation: "You’re sitting right there, how could I not see?"
"Seeing but not greeting, indulging your bad habits."
Sean Bell, ranked fifth in the family circle, a renowned partner in domestic red circle firms, now has his own law firms in both Coronet and Stonewold.
It’s worth mentioning, Sean Bell is also the family’s only child, spoiled growing up, indulged in bad habits, and doesn’t have a great temper either.
Let’s put it this way, among these people, except for him, Silas, and the Zimmerman Family’s second son, the rest of them aren’t anywhere near normal.
The Lynch Family’s eldest is notoriously ruthless. Silas Ian is the most cunning. Sean Bell is the most abnormal, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call him mentally ill, he’s too good at manipulating people.
Outsiders always said Silas lived for pleasure, little did they know compared to Sean Bell, his stuff was nothing, Sean Bell was truly the most perverse one.
In earlier years when Sean Bell was most insane, the family barely managed to hold onto him. Now he’s restrained some, appears to be decent.
Finally there’s that Thea, also the most difficult one. This girl was alright earlier years, a bit of a spoiled princess attitude, which was normal. But after spending some time with Ian, this girl really became more like Ian, sometimes even he couldn’t outplay Thea.
He often felt he and the second brother were overly simple and kind, out of place among these people.
Being berated by Silas, Sean Bell quietly took it, didn’t talk back. After all, only Silas would think he’s harmless, to others, this Silas fox has never been an easy character.
Being able to flourish equally alongside Ian in Coronet, it’s impossible to rely solely on family background.
His gaze shifted to Ian on the side, Sean Bell paused his move to toast, "Sirius, where did you go last night? Looks like... quite the fierce battle."
Sean Bell and Silas, like one glance immediately noticed the marks on Ian’s mouth.
Only he just returned to Coronet, hadn’t been in contact with Ian and the others recently, so didn’t know as much as Silas.
Bringing this up, Silas laughed uncontrollably again, "Only you dare say that, really not afraid of getting beaten."
"First time seeing Ian with a situation, just curious." Sean Bell curved his lips, sipping his wine.
He sorted through potential candidates in his memory, picked who seemed most likely to ask: "Is it that one called Nina Sinclair?"
"Why’d you think of her?" Ian hadn’t responded yet, Silas couldn’t sit still.
Sean Bell still doesn’t know about the blown wedding plans, "Silas, weren’t you going to get engaged to her?"
Saying so, he glanced at Ian, intentionally or unintentionally saying: "Silas really has ordinary taste. This woman, not any good thing. If you want to marry her, you really should visit the eye doctor."
One of the few who dare criticize Ian so boldly in the circle, one is Thea Lynch, the other is Sean Bell.
Silas previously slandered but knew restraint. But these two were truly genuine. Though Sean Bell and Thea were slightly different.
Thea was fearless. Whereas Sean Bell, besides simply being reckless, also had another layer of relationship with Ian. He’s Ian’s direct cousin, his father and Ian’s mother are siblings.
