Demon Slayer: Rise of The First Werewolf-Chapter 32: Meeting Across The Demon
Night came and Meggie left, a few minutes after she left Adrian followed. Even without a car he was able to easily keep up.
In fact he could’ve ran faster than her car but chose not to. Meggie parked across the street and watched the house.
Adrian climbed onto a roof of another house, with his eyesight he didn’t need to get close to see clearly.
It was 9 pm, not exactly the time demons usually took action so they waited. Coincidentally both had brought their own snacks.
Adrain was lost in his thoughts thinking about Annie when something hit him on the back of his head.
He was startled and fell off the roof but his body twisted mid air and he landed on his feet like a cat.
He caught a familiar scent and the first thought was to run but he knew there was no point to that.
So he shrunk his neck and went to Meggie who was tapping her foot with a face scowling with rage.
" I told you to stay at home did not?" She asked him and he could sense the anger in her voice.
" But mom...wait, why’d I call you mom?" It was strange, it just felt so natural and right that he ended up calling her that.
Even now he didn’t feel any awkwardness, deep inside him he felt as if he was talking to his mother even though he knew he was not.
Meggie sighed, being called mom didn’t feel wrong either, even though she knew she was not his mother, it made her happy.
" It’s okay, come." They went to her car and sat together in silence. Adrian’s thoughts were still on his strange feelings.
Disregarding the fact that Meggie looked exactly like his mother, she also felt like his mother in a way he couldn’t explain.
Meggie on the other hand felt that her theory that Margaret had placed a spell on her was getting more real.
What she couldn’t understand was why she would place that spell on her son as well, was it to make him accept him more easily.
She sighed, time passed and the light went off by 11 pm, the family had went to sleep. Then Adrian felt it.
The demon had woken up, its scent was so overwhelming it made his nose twitch. " It’s strong." He whispered.
But he didn’t need to tell Meggie that, she could sense it clearly. As her witch her sensitivity to esper was strong.
She could easily gauge the power level of others and she knew, the two of them would lose against this demon.
Of course all she could sense was the amount and purity of esper energy but not skills.
She didn’t even know that Adrian had more than 300 skills now, if she did she might faint from the shock.
Awakening so many skills as a level one was unheard of. He activated one of this skills and silver energy burnt in his eyes.
This was lunar energy, he did not have much of it but the very little he had was powerful. The ability he had just used allowed him to see through solid objects.
His eyes pierced through walls and the first thing he saw was the couple doing the did and he immediately cancelled the skill.
Seeing that was unpleasant, he took a deep breath. Meggie gave him a side glance but didn’t say anything.
She figured what he had seen and chose not to say anything so he won’t be even more embarrassed.
He looked at another direction then used the skill again. He saw the bedroom of the teenage girl
She was sound asleep, he continued and then his eyes landed on the room of the 8 year old boy.
The kid was wide awake and peaking his head under his covers. His eyes were locked onto his closet.
They had just moved in today and the demon was already taking action. For it to possess the boy, he would need to let it in.
To do that it needed him to have fear, fear would be it invitation and so it started scaring the boy.
Monster in the closet trick, it was an old move of the demons to target kids who were more vulnerable to possession.
Adrain watched the demon’s shadow in the closet. It looked like a woman dressed in a long old dress that reached her feet.
He cancelled the skill and told Meggie what he saw. " Should we act?" He asked her.
She shook her head, " We can’t just go into someone’s house and tell them we’re there to fight a demon now can we.
That isn’t even counting the fact that, the demon is a level 2, we don’t have any chance of winning.
If that thing wanted it could kill this entire neighborhood in seconds but doing that would rid it of its food.
However if we force its hand, it might just do something crazy, demons are unpredictable Adrian, never forget that."
Adrain nodded, At least the demon wouldn’t kill this family anytime soon, it needs to feed on their fear to grow stronger.
Once it feeds enough on them it could claim their souls so when they die it could take then to hell.
Demons fed on negative emotions to grow stronger, that’s why they do so much evil, being so much chaos.
However without people there would be no negative emotions to feed on so until they were certain somebody would go to hell.
They would never claim a human life unless backed into a corner. The two of them watched a bit longer.
They were about to drive away when another car pulled up. It was a fancy black car.
Meggie knew immediately which organisation this car belonged to and she frowned.
If they discover Adrian, she wasn’t sure she could protect him. " Adrain hide." She told him.
Adrian could also smell two powerful auras from that other car. Meggie had expected him to hide down.
But he used another ability, his body became faint then disappeared, even his aura became too faint to notice.
On the other car sat Nancy and Bruce, Nancy looked at Meggie’s car but said nothing.
She could see a witch inside but the witch was alone. She figured she was also here for the demon like they were.
Meggie on the other hand was confused, she had called the church so she couldn’t understand why the organisation was here.
Dealing with demons was not their domain. " I have a bad feeling about this."
