Demonic Skeleton God-Chapter 77: Evolution of Skills
Chapter 77: Evolution of Skills
"Can I take a look at it?" Flor asked while looking at Itai’s glove.
"Sure." Itai said, took it off and handed it to Flor.
Flor examined it. "One of the highest quality materials I’ve seen. If it truly has the effects you described, then we’ve practically won." Flor said and handed it back to Itai.
"You can keep to yourself where you got it from. Just the fact that you have such a powerful item is satisfying enough for me. What’s your current count?" he asked, and there was no emotion on his face other than joy.
"200, and as I already said, 8 of them are stage 2." Itai said.
"Very good. Anyway, I want to make sure that you can summon a monster above your own stage, so I’ll bring a Stage 3 and Stage 4 monster corpse nearby. Anyway, at what Stage can you craft spells?" Flor asked.
"At Stage 1. I haven’t even finished my first spell yet, which I estimate I’ll complete in a month." Flain said honestly.
"That’s what I expected, but honestly I don’t care. Just the fact that you can create a spell is very beneficial. In the entire Empire of Light, there are only 5 people who can create spells, and I’ve currently gotten one of them on my side." Flor said.
"Well, I’ll be going now. Flain, just try not to go insane, that wouldn’t be good." Flor added and walked away.
"Did I do well?" Itai asked once Flor was gone.
"There’s a possibility he could betray us, but at the moment I don’t see a reason. Otherwise, you did very well — we just gained an ally who could be very important in the future." Flain said with a smirk.
"Anyway, always stay cautious, we still don’t know who he truly is." Flain added.
"Hehe good you accepted, at least it’ll be fun." Said Ghosty while his veiled head poked out from the side.
Itai and Zheren left to do their own things, and Flain still had one task left. He noticed that he had gained a new skill; he wanted to display its description, but Flor had interrupted him. Now he could finally do so calmly.
[Name: The Wrapping of Death
Level: 1
Stage: 3
Type: Melee Technique
Consumption: 1800 EN
Description: The user wraps their tail around the enemy and begins to crush them. Small bony spikes grow from the tail, increasing the pain. After 5 seconds, the tail releases.
Next level: Fight, train with this skill or 200,000 EXP]
This was a very expensive yet devastating technique. Unlike Tornadoornado of Spikes, the enemy cannot escape and it targets only one enemy. One disadvantage is that Flain cannot leave the spot for those 5 seconds.
Flain had saved up 956,550 EXP but didn’t plan to use it for leveling up, instead for evolving his Stage 1 skills to Stage 2 because now that Flain was at Stage 3, they were basically useless for him.
Flain first chose Fire Ball and began leveling it up.
[Fire Ball lvl: 5 -> level 6]
[Fire Ball lvl: 6 -> level 7]
[Fire Ball lvl: 7 -> level 8]
[Fire Ball lvl: 8 -> level 9]
[Fire Ball lvl: 9 -> level 10]
[Your Stage 1 skill Fire Ball has reached the required level for an Stage 2 evolution...]
[Fire Ball evolved into Fire Lance!]
[Name: Fire Lance
Level: 1
Stage: 2
Type: Fire Spell
Consumption: 190 MP
Description: The user conjures a compressed projectile in the shape of a spear of intense fire and pressure. Fire Lance impales the enemy and transforms into gentle flames that engulf the target. If it fails to impale the enemy or is detonated mid-air by the user’s will, it causes a controlled explosion in a narrow cone. The better the user is at casting this spell, the more Fire Lances can be summoned at once.
Next level: Fight, train with this skill or 35,000 EXP]
This is very similar to Ice Spikes but in an improved fire version and more expensive. This is much better than Fire Ball, which was good for stalling, but in the end was quite weak in actual combat. This sounds much better in comparison.
For Flain, this was quite expensive in terms of mana even though it’s just a Stage 2 skill and he was Stage 3. The reason is that Flain isn’t a mage, so he doesn’t have a large MP pool.
Flain moved on to Swiftlash. He used this technique quite often in combat since he didn’t really have a similar one, so he hoped it would evolve into something good.
[Swiftlash lvl: 4 -> level 5]
[Swiftlash lvl: 5 -> level 6]
[Swiftlash lvl: 6 -> level 7]
[Swiftlash lvl: 7 -> level 8]
[Swiftlash lvl: 8 -> level 9]
[Swiftlash lvl: 9 -> level 10]
[Your Stage 1 skill Swiftlash has reached the required level for an Stage 2 evolution...]
[Swiftlash evolved into Swift Flurry!]
[Name: Swift Flurry
Level: 1
Stage: 2
Type: Melee Technique
Consumption: 300 EN
Description: Swift Flurry unleashes a rapid series of slashes that flow seamlessly into one another. Each successful hit slightly increases the slashing speed. While Swift Flurry is active, it grants minor resistance to disorientation effects and slightly enhances senses. However, if no enemy is hit for more than 1.5 seconds, Swift Flurry immediately cancels. Upon ending Swift Flurry, the user suffers 2 seconds of partial disorientation, reducing reaction speed and evasion ability.

When Flain read this, he could cheer—this was very good. The effect that caused basically zero damage when hitting a moving enemy was removed, so Flain could now use Swift Flurry anytime.
But it was still just Stage 2, and if he encountered a Stage 3 enemy, it wouldn’t hurt them that much. Flain was Stage 3 and still had a good amount of EXP, so why not evolve Swift Flurry straight to Stage 3?
[Swift Flurry lvl: 1 -> level 2]
[Swift Flurry lvl: 2 -> level 3]
[Swift Flurry lvl: 3 -> level 4]
[Swift Flurry lvl: 4 -> level 5]
[Swift Flurry lvl: 5 -> level 6]
[Swift Flurry lvl: 6 -> level 7]
[Swift Flurry lvl: 7 -> level 8]
[Swift Flurry lvl: 8 -> level 9]
[Swift Flurry lvl: 9 -> level 10]
Flain barely had enough, as he was left with only 85,000 EXP. A system window appeared in front of him with his new Stage 3 technique...
