881 The First Wound

Lenny had been right about Uriel for the past few months of their relentless battling, Uriel had been holding back, but that was not even the most disturbing part of it all. It was the fact that Uriel had an amazingly incredible patience. It was like the story of Hansel and Gretel, where the Witch fattened them up before attempting to cook them. Uriel had patiently trained Lenny for months un-end so that he could be strong enough to be considered a challenge. At lenny's Level of strength, he could already didge most of the attacks by the angel. But If Lenny was to use a word for Uriel, then it would be 'Cunny'. It instantly made Lenny lose fate in the honesty that angels were attributed to. His attacks were never what they seemed. They always came from impossible angles, giving Lenny the impression that he was not battling one person but multiple people at a time. An attack of Holy power on one side, and then Uriel with his unnatural speed will appear at another side, only to fake a strike that Lenny was never sure was real or not until it was close to dividing him into two. Soon enough, Lenny had to start adapting the Angels pattern of fighting. Making fakes, and making them so good that they seemed like original attacks. Of course, Lenny understood that this wasted more magic points, but it was a very fruitful method in fighting. Once more, the realization hit Lenny in the head. Yet again, Uriel was teaching him sometime else. Lenny had experienced different methods of teaching, but this was another level of unorthodox. However, on a subconscious level, Lenny discovered that he was starting to enjoy it. He could feel his skills become sharper and more polished. A man like Lenny that had reached the peak of the assassin world in his previous life, had learnt a lot, and one might even say that he had become quite corky, thinking that there was next to nothing for him to learn from any other person. But Uriel was like an onion, it was as if every time Lenny discovered something new, there was more to discover. This attraction of the unknown as it led him forth on the path to progress gave him an incredible addictive feeling of growth. He really enjoyed it a lot.

At the same time, another thought came into his head, was Uriel strictly training him so that he could have the fulfillment of an incredible battle, or did he had another motive for his actions. Assassins had incredible patience, but Lenny's was being polished again and again by Uriel. The most surprising part was that Uriel seemed to know his upper limit and every time he was on the verge of completely losing, he found a way to push Lenny past his limits. By now, the entire volcano area was filled with craters that made it look like the surface of the moon. The only difference was that many of these ones had lava spilling from within them. They made for an excellent point for hiding from the enemy. Uriel with his gigantic size was some how still able to hide from Lenny's acute eye sight. But what really surprised the assassin was that Uriel was also able to hide from his passive ability that allowed him sense all around him. Lenny was already starting to believe that Angels were far more cunny than even demons. This was the first time he was meeting a creature that its old age also gave it extreme wisdom and patience. Then again, this could not be helped. Uriel was an angel that was in painful captivity for hundreds of years and did not reveal the information that his enemy wanted to hear. And after that release, he was more interested in battling Lenny while teaching him than actually going after his freedom. Lenny had to come to the understanding that he was fighting another lunatic like himself. Lenny remained in hiding. He would move from one point to the other, his hands, patting the ground in a particular rhythm. From Uriel's point of view, Lenny was trying to use the reverberation of sound waves in the earth to find him.

Uriel chuckled at this.

Lenny's eyes darting left and right in search for his enemy. However, an attack suddenly came from his back. "Caught You!" Uriel released thee Volleys of Holy power from his hands. As he did, Lenny kicked against the ground, Jumping into the air to avoid the attack. As he did this, he also threw three knives. These knives were obviously not normal knives. They were inscribed with shadow runes and even the metal that made them had been a special forging Lenny had made as he was in hiding with the ever spilling lava. The moment he sent the three knives, He also sent a long trailing blast of Lightning. However, unlike the knives, the lightning was not targeted for Uriel. Instead, it had been targeted for just above his head. The attacks came with speed. However, Uriel chuckled loudly, "Just when I thought you had learnt something, you had to prove me wrong with such a very stupid move..." However, Lenny gave a side smile, "is it now!?"

That smirk made Uriel look again at the attack, and then an unbelievable thing happened. lenny had thrown three knives. However, careful observation and one could see that these knives were at a nearly impossible to achieve angle and distance from one another.

The first Knife clashed with Uriel's attack, and then it spun in the air, the tip of its edge hitting the second knife at such an angle that offset its trajectory, such that it ended up entrying the part of the third knife, hitting it out of its path and into the air.

Seeing this, Uriel laughed again. After all, it appeared that Lenny's attacks had clashed with one another in the air, therefore spinning out of control.

He raised his hands again and fired at lenny once more. Even though Lenny could fly, it was still far more difficult to dodge an attack when one was airborne than it was on land. Uriel planned to take advantage of this vulnerability. However, he was also a born warrior and a sense of danger went through his body. Yet, when he looked all around him, he could not see where the attack was coming from. Then again, he was one to trust his instincts. Besides, Lenny had been pulling off some really interesting stunts as of late, lenny really fast from him.

There was also the fact that Lenny's confident smirk still remained on his lips. And then he looked up. And there it was. The Knife that seemed that it lost its way had reached peak velocity on its way up, and therefore turned about to fall to the ground. After all, everything that goes up must come down.

However, careful observation, and he could see that the knife had not truly reached peak velocity going up, rather, its ascent had been interrupted by the blast of lightning Lenny had earlier sent forth. Just then, Uriel tried to move. As he did, he heard Lenny's voice, "where do you think you are going!?" He looked below and that was when he noticed that the earth like a snake rushed up his feet to hold him in place. He could not believe this, "when did you...?" almost when he asked the question, he already knew the answer to it. After all, Lenny had been changing hiding points, moving around. He had actually been setting Rune traps in the earth as he moved. Just as he realized, he looked up. And then he noticed something. The rune on the dagger suddenly shone in an eerie dark light. *WUSH!* The speed by which the Blade fell suddenly increased by at least ten times. that blade was falling for his head. If it hit, without a doubt, it would penetrate his skull and he would be done. Uriel raised his hand, but not to the sky. there was no time for that. it was also not to the ground to get himself free. Rather, It was to his side.

With an incredible force, he blasted his power at himself. *BOOM!* The attack on his own body managed to hit him out of the way in time. But the knife was also fast, barely scraping past the side of his head and cutting through his cheeks. *Boom!* Uriel smashed hard against the ground, creating yet again another crater. Lenny did not give the Angel any breathing opportunity, sending forth a volley of swords that materialized in thin air. *BOOM!*

*BOOM!*

The attack was relentless. Uriel bleed the blue blood of angels. This was the first time since they began their battles that Lenny actually made a mark on his skin. Lenny suddenly appeared before the angel's face, flying in the air as he held a long blade against Uriel's throat. "Tell me about the Codex..."
