Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion-Chapter 114: President’s Treasure
Chapter 114: President’s Treasure
"No rush, let’s wait and see what they’re up to."
A flash of killing intent flickered deep in his pupils.
Carlos chose not to strike immediately.
Killing Psionics inside the city would too easily cause panic.
Even if these guys were traitorous scum who deserved to die, outsiders wouldn’t know that yet. Carlos still needed to get the Dawn Flame, so he shouldn’t cause a ruckus.
Not long after the shadow went in, the door closed tight, and no valuable information could be seen.
"Keep watching them. Let me know if anything happens. Keep your distance and don’t let them spot you."
After instructing Purple Vortex, Carlos closed his eyes again and continued his interrupted dream...
Inside the large cabin, the shadow was reporting to the three superiors:
"I listened outside his window for over ten minutes and didn’t notice anything unusual."
The man on the left, Kitz, frowned and asked:
"He didn’t detect your approach?"
"No, he was sleeping like a baby, completely unguarded."
After hearing this, Kitz’s brow remained furrowed.
The woman on the right, Tammy, was trimming her nails with a small knife, not too concerned about Kitz’s vigilance.
"Kitz, you’re being way too paranoid. Just some random traveler, and you actually sent someone to test them."
"That masked person was too calm. In broad daylight, with so many of us Psionics watching, they didn’t show the slightest bit of panic. I just feel like they have some kind of backing."
Kitz explained his reason for sending someone to investigate.
"Backing? They can’t be a high-tier Psionic, can they?"
Tammy blew on her nails, speaking casually like it was a joke.
Kitz fell silent, thinking this was almost impossible.
Every high-tier Psionic was someone with high status and power—who had the time to come to this godforsaken place?
Unless, like them, they knew there was a treasure buried here.
Besides, that masked person hadn’t detected his subordinate’s eavesdropping, which suggested their abilities were just so-so.
His brow relaxed as Kitz’s mood lightened:
"You’re right, I was being too paranoid."
Tammy didn’t respond, continuing to trim her nails.
She was used to Kitz’s reactions.
Just then, the tall man in the middle, Delya, spoke up with a serious expression:
"Kitz’s caution isn’t wrong. The president takes this mission very seriously. We can’t afford any screw-ups. Since you think that masked person is suspicious, then we should..."
Before Delya could finish, Tammy’s eyes immediately lit up as she interrupted:
"Just kill them! I’ll handle this! After traveling all this way, my bones are stiff."
Her jet-black nails reflected her cruel gaze.
"...leave immediately! Avoid them!"
Delya said word by word.
This treasure was too important.
Before departing, President Salimo had warned repeatedly that they must bring the treasure back in one piece.
To complete the mission, Delya didn’t want any complications.
Even if they killed that masked person, so what? Besides causing a commotion, he really didn’t see any benefit.
"Delya, you’re even more timid than Kitz."
Tammy’s expression stiffened.
She hadn’t expected the tall, imposing Delya to be even more cautious than Kitz.
Delya remained stone-faced, acting as if he hadn’t heard Tammy’s mockery.
He ordered his subordinates:
"Go tell the people outside to pack up. We’re leaving right now!"
"Yes!"
The black-robed figures began packing their belongings, preparing to depart.
"Just when we finally got to rest, now we have to travel through the night again."
Delya was the nominal commander of this expedition, bound by the president’s orders.
At most, Tammy could grumble a bit, but in the end she still packed away her neatly arranged jars and containers.
"I hope my perfect nails won’t hold it against me for not giving them proper care."
This group had been traveling light from the start, so they finished packing quickly.
...
Outside, Purple Vortex saw the large cabin door suddenly open.
The group that its master had ordered it to monitor came out, looking hurried as they quickly headed toward the city gate.
It realized this must be the unusual activity its master had mentioned.
It quickly contacted its master through their soul link.
Back at the cabin, Carlos had just reconnected with his earlier dream when Purple Vortex’s soul waves woke him up.
"They’re making their move so soon?"
He’d thought this group would stay put until tomorrow.
He immediately ordered Purple Vortex:
"Follow them. See exactly where they’re headed."
...
Under cover of darkness, the Golden Sand Society group quickly left White Poplar City and continued south along a small road.
"They’re heading toward White Poplar Desert."
Through Purple Vortex’s vision, Carlos made his judgment.
"Could this group’s target really be the Dawn Flame?"
Killing intent surged in Carlos’s heart:
"Should I just wipe them all out?"
Once they left White Poplar City, Carlos wouldn’t have to worry about causing a disturbance.
"But logically, there’s absolutely no way anyone could know the Dawn Flame’s location."
In his memory, the Dawn Flame’s location was found by that player using the Sun Emperor’s Sword as a guide, after going through a ton of trouble.
At this stage, there was absolutely no way news about the Dawn Flame could have leaked.
Carlos suppressed the killing intent in his heart. He wanted to see what these guys were really up to.
Being so careful and cautious, their scheme must be big.
...
As moonlight faded and sunlight grew, the Golden Sand Society group had traveled through the night. The barren desert landscape began showing sparse white poplar trees.
Joy flashed in their eyes:
"White Poplar Desert!"
Not easy at all.
From Rock Sand City, they’d endured wind and sun all the way, eating sand the whole journey to reach White Poplar City.
Then barely resting before immediately traveling through the night again—finally, they’d arrived.
"Lord Delya, shouldn’t we rest for a bit?"
One of the black-robed figures quietly suggested.
The other black-robed figures all looked at Delya with pleading eyes.
They’d traveled at top speed all night and felt both hungry and beat.
Delya also knew his subordinates were truly tired and shouldn’t push them too hard.
"One hour of rest!"
The black-robed figures exchanged glances—just one hour? That was hardly enough.
But seeing Lord Delya’s dead serious expression...
One hour it was, better than nothing.
"Yes! Lord Delya!"
They immediately sat on the ground, took out food, and began resting...
The three mid-tier Psionics didn’t rest with their subordinates.
Instead, they climbed onto a large rock to gaze out over White Poplar Desert.
"Strange, why are these white poplar trees growing so tall?"
Kitz murmured.
In this sandy, rocky terrain, it was normal to have no vegetation at all, or maybe some short weeds.
But the white poplar grove before them had every tree growing even taller than those in oases.
This was way too unusual.
Tammy touched her nails with an indifferent attitude:
"Who knows? It doesn’t affect us anyway."
"The president’s prized treasure is deep inside White Poplar Desert. We’re bound to face beast attacks along the way. We can’t let our guard down."
Delya wasn’t concerned about the white poplars’ abnormality. He just wanted to safely obtain the treasure and complete the mission.
"Just some mindless wild beasts—how could they threaten us?"
"I’ll have my people stay sharp."
Tammy was dismissive, Kitz cautious.
Delya said nothing more, his mind reviewing the map and route for this expedition.
