Chapter 271: Proof of fire part 2

Flames started to accumulate under Tein’s feet, melting the asphalt at an incredible speed and suddenly making the environment get even hotter.

A drop of sweat ran down Ivar’s cheek. He didn’t bother to take a fight position. The Aesir was feeling that his enemy was far stronger than before, but he made sure to keep his mind calm and act as he always did. Confidence never left his eyes.

The only thing he did to prepare for the impact was to bent his knees slightly, making a solid base to endure it.

The drop of sweat left a cold strain on his face and stayed for some seconds on the edge of his chin. Then, if feel.

Right after, both warriors stomped the ground and covered the distance between each other at such a speed that no ordinary human could follow. The only noticeable thing was the sound of their weapons clashing, but their exchanges were so sharp and fast, that their movements were slightly ahead of the sound.

Also, despite their incredible speed, power was another thing to be feared of. The reverberation of their weapons colliding with each other crossed the entire street and could reach the Ridires and Frelsis fighting around there. Those people couldn’t keep fighting like that, the pressure on the air was palpable.

The battle between the Aesir and the Vanir extended through the entire city. Their fight was intense enough to cause destruction wherever they went in the city.

Entire buildings were turned into ashes in a matter of seconds. Others had their structures cut in half as if they were butter. Wreckage flew everywhere. The asphalt was all melted and had many craters and cracks here and there.

Anyone who passed through that city might guess that a huge monster or a hurricane passed by there and destroyed everything. Nobody could ever imagine that only two people were doing such a thing.

A final monstrous exchange that made the ground tremble marked the end of the first part of their clash. The last blow from both sides sent them flying backward due to the impact.

Ivar landed on the ground while Tein just kept flying, his flames being controlled as he pleased.

The first had a huge cut on his shoulder, which was continuously spitting blood. A cut was made right below his left eye, but fortunately, it didn’t affect his vision. However, what harmed Ivar the most were the flames of that guy. His body had burns of different degrees in various parts of his body.

The Vanir had a cut just as nasty as Ivar’s on his thigh. The previous wound on his arm wasn’t there anymore, though. Those flames were managing to close the wound and prevent that it bleed too much, the same was happening with the one he had on the thigh. That was a huge disadvantage for the Aesir, who didn’t have any means to quickly close or cure his wounds.

’I see. That’s one point for him. No matter how many cuts I do on his body, I can’t count that he starts to get weak due to the bleeding since it will stop in no time. I need to be more assertive and deliver a blow that he won’t be able to survive even if the wound closes. I don’t know how far this heat can affect him, so maybe internal bleeding won’t be an issue for him either. Maybe a cracked bone, or end with one of his internal organs.’

Ivar was finding that healing property to be a hassle for him. He had fought a lot of different enemies with all sorts of powers, but regeneration, or any mean of instant healing, was something that really got him pissed off.

It was the kind of enemy he wanted to split in two to end with the battle already, but against someone as strong as Tein, he couldn’t expect to do something like this so easily.

’In the long run, this fight will be completely in his favor. While I crumble down every second, he will just keep at his peak.’ Anyway, that pressure didn’t make him anxious, but spirited instead.

Tein also was looking at Ivar, but the craziness on his eyes just showed that he wasn’t thinking in anything at all. The guy just wanted to take his breath quickly and go to another clash against that man.

’This guy seems to have a lot of fuel. But that’s good. More time of fun for me.’

Ivar raised three levels more on his overall exoskeleton.

His bones and muscles were still feeling great so he would keep going. Level 10 was the max of the exoskeletons, but the one he used could go beyond it with 5 levels more. He was currently at level 10, but he would raise it if he needed.

’For some reason, the environment keeps getting hotter and hotter. I have the feeling that his flames get stronger every second as well. If that’s the case, just as I can raise the level of my body capabilities, he can do the same with his technology somehow.’

They stared at each other for some more time. The expectation arose in their hearts. The Aesir seemed just as excited as the crazy Vanir in front of him. The beats of their hearts seemed to let a louder echo than their previous blows.

The two rivals thought of saying something, but the sight of keep talking and delay their battle didn’t seem attractive. Their muscles were tingling already, they needed to start it again now.

Ivar gave a light step forward, then broke his rhythm and sped up from 1 to 1000% in milliseconds. The Vanir wasn’t expecting that subtle change at all and widened his eyes as the man disappeared again leaving just a huge crack on the ground.

The asphalt was being destroyed around him as if an invisible force was smashing it. Tein’s smiling figure got more and more excited, to the point where he started to laugh in amusement.

"Yes! Yes! HAHAHA! Stronger! Faster! Show me your power!" As his emotions got more and more unstable, the flames around him began to grow stronger.

Ivar kept circling him, faster than a lightning bolt, leaving a trail of destruction around.

In the next moment, he changed his pattern and charged towards the man. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Come here, Fenrir!" Tein yelled, the smell of gas around him was increasing and getting so strong to a point where it was unbearable to breathe.

The flames circled his body in a wide-ratio, seeming like a huge hurricane. His machete seemed to be burning in thousands of degrees.

An area of 1 square kilometer was melting away in an unbelievably short time.

If not for the Aesir’s swiftness, he wouldn’t be able to step in the ground without getting burned or stuck there.

Ivar’s sword was poised to deliver another powerful blow. He knew that the approach he made was too dangerous and that he could pay a high price for this, but he couldn’t back away. If he didn’t match the strength of that man, he would surely deal with even worse consequences.

’Run as fast as you can! Increase the tension in your muscles! Take it to the limit! Make your acceleration get as higher as you can! If you don’t have enough speed, then double, triple, or quadruple it! Go faster than the sound, faster than the light!’

As his speed raised hundreds of thousands of kilometers per second, Ivar stopped to feel his feet touching the ground.

’You just need one single second! Your speed needs to reach its peak in just one freaking second! You don’t need to cover 100 kilometers, 100 meters, or 100 centimeters. But if you get in your max in that one missing centimeter to reach him, you will have the perfect attack!’

Ivar’s mind was going in a rush. Those thoughts lasted less than 0,1 milliseconds. The time seemed to pass slower in his perspective.

The Vanir, though, wasn’t just standing there, waiting for the Aesir without doing anything.

His flames kept increasing in power. Its heat seemed to don’t know any bounds. All the limits were being broken. The oxygen gathered in the dome barely was enough to fuel it.

The other people inside there couldn’t breathe at all, sweat was dropping nonstop, and even from far away, burns started to appear on their skin that was dry.

’Heat! Increase the heat! Condense it in your weapon, then release everything at once! Use every cubic centimeter of oxygen present in this place! Burn everything! Explode this entire place like an enormous Vulcan! Be stronger than the sun!’

Those flames started to accumulate in the tip of his weapon, which finally started to melt but slowly. It got brighter than a flashbang exploding.

That one last centimeter was finally covered, both powers at their peaks would clash in an unbelievable collision.

Time seemed to stop for a single second before their blades locked and the catastrophe happened.
