Chapter 124: Reymond’s Army

The king paused for a moment, deep in thought, before he finally stood up.

Daisy Town was one of the key towns near Rose City, along with Lily Town. While Lily Town focused on agriculture, Daisy Town thrived on maritime trade, bringing in substantial profit for the capital. So, sending aid was not just expected, it was necessary.

Everyone in the throne room turned their full attention to the king, waiting for his decision.

"I, King Radcliff, hereby command Prince Reymond to lead the army in assisting Daisy Town."

Reymond immediately kneeled before the king, then stepped back and briskly made his way to the door. Sir Dave followed close behind.

Then, Prince Reid stepped forward and knelt as well.

"Father, I apologize, but may I request something?" Reid asked.

"What is it, Reid?" King Radcliff asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I humbly request your permission to commission this issue as an emergency quest for the Dawnbloom Guild," Reid said, bowing his head lower.

"Why do you want to request help from that good-for-nothing guild, Prince?" Kelar interrupted.

He had to stop the guild from assisting the army. Even though his original plan was merely to use Daisy Town as a distraction, if he could truly cripple one of the most vital towns near Rose City, it would be like killing two birds with one stone.

The involvement of the Dawnbloom Guild, with several powerful members would interfere with that plan. Especially now, with the addition of two new strong adventurers, the threat had grown.

Reid ignored Kelar’s remark and said, "The guild has improved, Father. They have new members whom I believe can truly help us. Besides, this is the perfect opportunity for them to prepare for upcoming tournament."

The king rubbed his chin thoughtfully before finally speaking. "Hmm. If you say so. Then, Edward, please send someone to the guild and formally request their assistance."

Edward bowed and immediately walked toward the door.

"Thank you, Father, but I think I can volunteer myself to go and inform them." Reid said, kneeling again.

"Hmmm...if that so, then Sir Edward, please strengthen our city defense." King Radcliff said.

"Sir Dave is lucky," Thomas sighed. "He gets to join the fight, while we’re stuck following our master around." He gave Cynthia a small wave as he followed Edward out of the chamber.

"Mayor Waine, please follow the servant to your quarters. You must be tired," the king said next.

Mayor Waine was then escorted out of the throne room.

Reid and Kelar also excused themselves, leaving the king alone on his throne.

"What is truly happening in my dominion?" he muttered to himself.

Cough. Cough.

He covered his mouth with his hand, and saw blood.

"Who will crumble first... me, or my kingdom?"

Prince Reymond was preparing his gear, assisted by his servants. He stood in the royal barracks, a large hall filled with an array of weapons and equipment reserved for the royal family.

His gear was quite minimalistic, he wore a tunic and armor that covered his lower body and key parts of his upper body, such as the chest and shoulders. In his hand, he gripped a spear with an elegant golden design: Esapturah.

As he was making final adjustments, the door to the barracks suddenly opened, and Princess Reika stepped inside. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"Brother Reymond, is it true that Daisy Town is under attack?" she asked.

But seeing her brother already clad in battle gear made the answer clear.

"Yes. Father has ordered me to depart for the town immediately," he replied, knocking his chest plate and waist guard to ensure everything was properly secured.

Princess Reika then inhaled deeply and steadied herself. "Brother, please let me go with you."

Reymond suddenly stopped what he was doing and turned to face Princess Reika. He noticed her attendant behind her,Githa, shaking her head, quietly signaling him to stop the princess from going.

"My beloved little sister, I’m not going to Daisy Town for a visit or vacation. I’m going for battle. It’s very dangerous. I can’t allow you to be in that place. Please stay here and look after Father and Mother," Reymond said as he gently cupped her cheek.

"But the people of Daisy Town must be terrified. If I were there, I could help ease their suffering, even if just a little. Please, Brother!" Reika pleaded, refusing to back down.

Reymond shook his head. His little sister was always a bit stubborn. If she wanted something and didn’t get it, she would pout, cry, or find any way to get what she wanted. It was the result of being pampered all her life by the King and Queen.

"Alright, you can come," Reymond finally relented, "but you’ll only stay on the outskirts of the town. Once I confirm it’s safe, then you can enter. Understood?" he said seriously.

"Yes, Brother Reymond. Don’t worry, I won’t go against your order," she said with a smile, then turned and left to get prepared.

Githa shot Reymond a dissatisfied glance. Reymond simply shrugged his shoulders.

Reymond then walked out of the barracks and made his way toward the plaza, where the army was already assembled.

Their number was around 300 soldiers under Reymond’s direct command who had followed him through many campaigns. Each of them wore full silver-clad armor, some wielding swords, others carrying spears.

He stood in front of them. All the soldiers stopped what they were doing and turned their attention to their prince, and captain.

"I believe all of you are already aware of what’s happening in Daisy Town. What is happening there is unacceptable. His Majesty has given us the mandate to show them the true might of our force. Are you with me?" he shouted.

"YEAH!"

Reymond smiled, proud of what he saw. He then nodded to Sir Dave before moving toward his royal horse and mounting it. Sir Dave gave the signal to the troops, and the army began to march, led by Prince Reymond.

None of the soldiers showed fear on their faces, they had participated in many battles involving Kaoslith in other towns. They could be considered an experienced division.

Their march toward the city’s exit echoed through the streets, stirring the sleeping citizens. One by one, windows opened as the townspeople peered out. The rhythmic clatter of horse hooves and the clanking of armor filled the night air.

"What’s happening?"

"Are we under attack?"

Rumors quickly spread among the citizens about the sudden movement of the army.
