Chapter 125: Emergency Quest

Yawnnn...

I let out a long, wide yawn. My eyes were barely open. Beside me, Bob was sleeping while sitting up, his head drooping low, a bit of drool dripping from his mouth.

The clock showed 2 a.m, and we were now sitting in the guild hall. Maya and Evelyn had woken us up in our room. I had no idea how they managed to get in, maybe they had a spare key, or perhaps they asked the owner to open the door.

My body was still sore. After the meeting regarding the tournament today, we went on a quest together with Linus, William, Evelyn, and Maya. We were tasked to hunt amphibian creatures called Gobiid, which looked exactly like oversized mudskippers, except they had four legs instead of two and lived in the muddy region near Lake Thumb.

My shirt ended up soaked and filthy after we killed nearly twenty of them. I used that opportunity to train my skills while moving through the mud, which took a serious toll on my stamina. Just lifting my legs was tiring, and my soaked clothes made it even harder to move. William guided both me and Bob, offering some helpful tips.

After returning home, we immediately took showers and crashed. That was until those two girls decided to disrupt our sleep.

They said an emergency quest bell had been rung by the guild. And as guild members, we were required to obey the call and immediately gather at the hall. Maybe I was so tired that I didn’t hear anything during my sleep.

There were quite a number of adventurers in the hall, and all of them looked very alert, some even anxious. I still didn’t know what was actually happening. Maya and Evelyn were now talking to William, who also seemed serious. I then stood up and made my way to get some water from the counter.

As I walked toward the counter, I overheard the conversations between some adventurers.

"Did you hear? Prince Reymond’s army started moving just an hour ago. Do you know where they’re going?"

"I heard that too. They said the army marched through the west gate. It’s possible they’re heading to Daisy Town."

"Daisy Town? That’s my hometown! What’s happening? I need to find out!"

It seemed all the adventurers were growing restless.

I scanned all over the hall and saw familiar faces, Selene, Mark, Lee, Linus who just entered the hall, Blackburn, and also Lunar, to name a few.

As I took a sip of water, suddenly the sound of a door opening echoed from the upper floor. All eyes immediately turned toward the people emerging from the door.

From it, Guildmaster Mirinda, Beltimore, Ida, and the royal man I once met during the initiation ceremony stepped out onto the balcony. His guard was also with him.

"Everyone, gather now!" Beltimore shouted. All the adventurers immediately walked toward the center, looking up at them from the hall floor.

"Hey Bob, wake up," Linus said, nudging Bob, who was now nearly falling to the ground. Bob wiped his mouth and stood up.

As everyone gathered, Mirinda spoke. "As you already know, we have received an emergency quest commissioned by the palace itself. Prince Reid will explain more about it."

She then stepped back and allowed Prince Reid to move forward. He stood upright, gazing at all the adventurers below him. His eyes briefly landed on me, then he closed them for a moment. After opening them again, he spoke...

"We received news from the Mayor of Daisy Town himself. Right now, that town is under attack by a horde of monsters. And from the information we received, it is likely related to Kaoslith."

All the adventurers were shocked. They had heard of Kaoslith, but only from old folk stories, not from real experience. None of them had ever encountered it on this floor, except me, Bob, and Linus.

Kaoslith again! That cursed crystal always brings disaster wherever it appears. First Lily Town, and now Daisy Town.

I clenched my fists tightly. The memories of Lily Town came rushing back, body parts, pools of blood, and the lifeless faces of the dead. It all still haunted me, as if it happened yesterday.

"Daisy Town? That’s why I saw the soldiers marching just now."

"My mother! I need to go there now!"

The atmosphere grew tense.

"Therefore, the King himself has requested help from you as adventurers," Reid continued. "Please lend us your strength and help save Daisy Town."

"One hour from now, there will be carriages to carry us to the town. Please get ready as soon as possible," Mirinda added.

All the adventurers began to move.

"Alan," Bob suddenly tugged at my shirt. "Daisy Town... that’s where Yui is from. She said her brother lives there." His face looked worried. Without another word, he rushed toward the counter. I followed him. Linus trailed behind as well.

"Excuse me, where is Yui?" Bob asked.

Elsa, one of the staff, looked at Bob with a hesitant expression.

"Where is she?" Bob repeated, he raised his voice.

"She said... she wanted to go back to Daisy Town. She’s worried about her little brother," Elsa replied softly.

Hearing that, Bob immediately ran. I grabbed his hand. "Hey, where are you going? We need to prepare to embark to Daisy Town in an hour."

Bob turned to me, his face serious. "I want to see Yui first. She must be doing something stupid, going to Daisy Town alone. I need to stop her."

He then used his other hand to pull mine and ran toward the exit.

I looked at Linus. "I need to follow him," I said. If I went to Daisy Town while Bob stayed here, it would be like going there for a vacation, I would be useless without Limitless Bond power.

"Then I follow you too." Linus said.

I nodded before running to follow Bob.

"Alan, Linus, where are you two going?" Evelyn asked as we ran past her and Maya.

I just glanced at them, then kept running.

Maya and Evelyn looked at each other. "Is something wrong?"

They were about to go after me, but Selene stopped them. She told them to focus on the preparations.

"They’ll surely join us... I hope." Selene said.
