DRAGONBORN SORCERER-Chapter 41: Conquering the Chaos
"You puny humans, kneel before me. Not even your goddess can save you now" the Demon unleashed a devastating shockwave that shook the ground beneath.
Skyler clenched his fists, knowing full well that their direct attacks would be ineffective against such a monstrosity. Thus he came up with an alternative idea. And he had no intention of letting this beast run free.
"Rose!" His wavering voice called out for her, "Come here. It’s time for you to shine."
Rose blinked in surprise. His words caught her off guard. She couldn’t help but to wonder why did he say something like that.
"My lord..." she hesitated. "I’m afraid I don’t understand. What do you mean?"
Skyler sighed, running a hand through his hair before lowering his mask slightly. His piercing gaze met hers.
"What I meant is that you should be the one to take that vile creature down. Is it hard to understand?"
"But, my lord... how? My specialty is defense. I’m not suited for offense"
He understood the doubts in her heart. And it was true that her defensive abilities won’t do much effect on the demon. But given the right way, a defence could be used as offense.
"Listen Rose." Skyler told her, leaning close to her face, "I understand your doubts. But remember, defense and offense are two sides of the same coin. Given the right circumstances, even a shield can become a weapon."
She swallowed hard. His proximity made her heart race, but it wasn’t just that. There was something more.
She couldn’t take her eyes off from his deep gaze as though she was looking at a calm sea holding so many mysteries in the depth of it. She just listened to whatever he said.
"You were chosen as the Guardian of Rosevill," Skyler continued. "Now, the time has come to prove why. Trust me, follow my command, and you will accomplish the impossible."
Rose’s hesitation melted away. The flickering uncertainty in her eyes was replaced by a burning resolve. She clenched her fists and nodded firmly.
"Yes!" She nodded as she continued, "Tell me what to do, and I will carry it out without hesitation."
With newfound determination, she turned to face the advancing demon. Its grotesque form loomed over her, its blood-red eyes filled with malice. The suffocating aura it emitted would have made even seasoned warriors tremble.
But Rose didn’t flinch a bit. She was certain about Skyler’s determination, and there was no doubt about it.
"Now, Rose." Skyler screamed, "Put up a barrier around that demon."
His wish was her command, and she did exactly what he told her to. Without delay, she thrust out both hands. Mana surged through her veins, coalescing into a shimmering magic circle before her
A radiant, divine barrier materialized, and trapped the demon within its perimeters. However, in mere seconds, a single swing of its colossal fist, the barrier shattered it into pieces.
Rose cast another one. The result was the same. The barrier wasn’t enough to keep up with the demon’s destructive force. It shattered one after another.
’It’s no good.’ Skyler thought, looking at Rose who consistently tried over and over, her heart desperate to live upto his expectation.
Her heart couldn’t gather all of her emotion— a key to materialized her mana properly. She needed a push, and Skyler worked as the catalyst.
He gently put his hands on her shoulder. And started whispering.
"Remember." His voice raised heavily, dripping in solemn tone, "Remember all the atrocities he has committed. You were not the only one who suffered. Every woman— regardless of age, status, or condition— endured the same torment. He defiled them. He used the goddess’s name to commit unspeakable crimes. Can you really allow him to walk away unpunished?"
Those words fuelled her anger. Tears tried to fall but she held them back, cracking against her teeth, she replied, "No. I won’t allow him."
A sudden shift occurred— a miraculous phenomenon.
Defeating this demon wasn’t just her wish. It was Skyler’s as well. And that wish resonated with the system. A notification appeared before him.
[Lack of mana detected. Do you wish to transfer your mana to the individual called ’Rose.’]
[Yes/No]
’If transferring mana means achieving victory against Fredric, then I see no problem.’ He smiled behind his mask, and commanded, ’Yes! Initiate.’

’I can feel.’ Rose thought as she felt a newfound strength surging through her body, ’I can feel the presence of divinity blessing me with the strength I lack... No.. this strength it isn’t from the divinity. It’s lord Skyler’s. it’s warm... but what s this feeling.....’
She couldn’t hold her tears for any long. Due to lack of modification in the system, it wasn’t only the mana that synchronized with Rose. Rather his memories of his past— the memories of his tortures and torments, synchronized too.
Everything that he had endured and every emotion that had been bottling up in his heart, were shared with Rose.
’So, that’s the case.’ She thought, ’If everything I saw is the actuality, then we were blind this entire time. And right now I know what’s the right thing to do.’
Instead of having second thoughts of backing off from the place, she decided to have faith in him. After all, he did save them from all the crisis. Though Skyler didn’t know his secrets had been revealed to her.
She smiled and accepted his strength. Their bodies glowed in blinding light as Rose casted a new barrier.
"Lord’s Protection!" Rose screamed like a roaring beast, and a multi-layered barrier trapped the demon inside.

’That’s shocking.’ Skyler muttered to himself, seeing the system interface, ’Well whatever. At least the demons is trapped and he can’t use time to free himself.’
"No Rose." He commanded, holding her hand, as he pointed at the demon, "Imagine and shrink the barrier."
"Yes!"
The intense mana continued flowing around the atmosphere. Rose floated the barrier in air, imagined and began to compress it.
The more she compressed, the more MP deducted from Skyler’s status bar. As the consequences, the demons body parts crashed with one another, turning him into a round sphere.
"NOOOOOO...!!!!!" He screamed as he gradually turned into small ball— nearly a size of a green sapphire. It shined as Rose held it on her palm.
All the energy, all the dark aura vanished into the thin air. The problem was finally resolved.
Meanwhile Skyler ran out of all the MP just to support Rose. Rose was unimaginably happy as though she had fallen fro him. She gave a big and beautiful smile.
Vitra who did nothing but to watch them annihilating the demon, let a smile of reassuring. Leonardo felt relieved too.
"Here, my lord." Rose handed Skyler the tiny barrier that now solidified, "Take this."
Skyler looked closely for a second, then broke it while commanding , "Scavenge!"

"Phew!" Skyler gasped, "Finally everything has been resolved. Now for the aftermath... clan leader can I leave it to you."
"Sure my lord." Leonardo replied, "But what are you going to do in the mean time."
"Probably, I’m going to take some rest... and if possible, I want take a bath."
Rose who was checking up on her brother, heard Skyler’s wish. Seeing it as an opportunity, she suggested something that melt Skyler’s heart.
"My lord. In that case why don’t you and Lady Vitra come to our castle. I can arrange anything you desire."
Skyler thought for bit, ’It does sound like a good idea. And I mean why not. There’s still something left for me to do. By the condition I am in right now, I don’t think I may last long.’
So, he agreed to her proposal. Vitra agreed as well. And for some reason Rose was incredibly happy.
