"So, where’re you taking me to." With a sign of irritation I said.
"Quit tiring out, Senpai. Let me think. Ah! Let’s check out café first. My friends told me that a new one opened recently in this are."
I have a pretty much idea about the café she’s referring to. I, actually went there with Reina the other day. But I can’t possibly say that to her face. The excitement she had, might get shattered.
"Is that so? I’d be happy to taste the food they serves. I wonder what should have. Maybe pastries or maybe cakes."
I played along with her just to protect the smile she had.
"Jeez, let us reach there at least. Then decide. And since I interrupted your good time you can have anything you want and that will be on me today. Happy now."
That’s Emira for you. When it comes to generosity, she’s at top in our department. Hisane is also kind, but she can be harsh on Emira sometimes.
"Come to think of it, what’re the others doing. Did they leave for home or what."
"Well, I did invite Hisane. But she turned me down saying ’I don’t have free time’ or something like that. I bet she’s still conducting research with Mr Hayato. You know how she’s been busy as of lately."
Knowing Hisane that wouldn’t surprise me. She always work extra hard compare to the rest of the crew. I hope she doesn’t get overboard.
"That’s true enough. She’s really persistent in doing hard work through and through."
"Hay, what are you trying to imply here. Do I not work hard." She got angry, "But I guess you’re right. Man! Would it kill her to join us in high school again. It’d be so much fun."
Hisane is too serious about her works back in base. She once enrolled in Taikin High with me. After several months she dropped out oh the school. If I were to recall correctly, it was a week after I accepted Reina’s proposal back then. She hardly even went to home. All the time either she’s practicing to hone her aiming skills or conducting experiments with Mr Hayato.
"Then, what about the rest of the squad members? What’re they up to."
"As usual I suppose, military training in General Rugo’s camp. They want to enhance their physical abilities more."
"While everyone’s busy training for the responsibilities they have, I’m stuck with a complete idiot who’s more interested in shopping rather than training."
"Huh? What’s that supposed to mean. I’ll have you know that I also train myself to improve further. You were just planning to sleep all the day. And I’m the idiot now?"
Her balloon face is what i love to see the most, specially when I tease her like the way I did just now. I do know how competent she is. But as I said, I love teasing her.
We reached near the café. I was right. It’s the same café I thought about. Keeping the fact secret I was about to enter with her. But suddenly her Connector rang up.
It was a call from our base. Normal phone signal is not available in semi-Point Dimension. So we use the Connector to get through. I wonder why I wasn’t called first instead of her.
"Put your Connector on speaker. I want to know what director has to say. I hope it’s not personal or anything."
She took the call and turned on the speaker.
"Hay there, Emira. I hope you’re enjoying your day off. Sorry to call you so sudden."
"Director, is everything all right? If it’s an emergency I can come immediately."
"Well, I won’t call it an emergency. Uhh.. There’s a little matter. Are you happened to be free right now?"
"Hello Director. Explain the details right now. What exactly happened ?"
I couldn’t help my self nut to ask. If it’s related to Dansak, we don’t have time to waste.
"Oh Commander?.. What’re you doing with Emira? I thought you were recovering from the muscle torment you sustained. Shouldn’t be you in your bed right now.?"
"It’s fine Director. Thanks to the medic team, I’m doing fine. Don’t think about that tiny matter right now. Tell me what happened."
Emira was unaware of my injury that I sustained during our fight again a Type-1 Brusters, in shot a B1 Dansak. Muscle Torment is a minor injury to those who possesses the Wings of Selection. It can heal small internal injury like that.
But, you know, I don’t have those. That’s why even a small injury like that could be fatal to if I don’t take medicine. Good for the rest of my teammates, they don’t have to worry over this.
"OK, fine if you say so." He took a deep breath, "I want you guys to head to Fukuoka Marine Base. It’s nothing major. You’ll get the details from General Okima of the Surveillance Unit."
"But Director, we’re in Kyoto right now. If it’s urgent we might get late."
"Don’t worry. Use Double Jump, I’m sending two coordinates. Use them accordingly. You can reach there in no time."
Work really never leave you alone. There’s noting we can do though. It’s all far the sake of world after all.
"Umm Senpai, forgive me. I didn’t know you’re injured." She bowed with a face full of guilty.
"Look Emira. It’s not that much of a big deal, just some little scratches." I tried to bring back her smile, "If you’re sad about that, you can cook me something to eat later as compensation. You do know, I like your cooking more than eating on a fancy café."
"Yes off course. I’ll do that." Her smile came back. "At least we can eat a slice of cake before we leave."
She was turning towards the café. I caught her hand. With a dreadful smile I said,
"Sorry to inform you. But that isn’t going to happen right now. We have jobs to do."
And I dragged that crying child along the road to a solitary place where no one can see us teleporting.
Double Jump teleporting is a process where we use two coordinates one after another. First one is to teleport us in Point Dimension. The second one is to teleport from there to where we want to go. That being we can do it only when we get the directives.
If you’re thing why not teleport directly? Well it’s possible. But a singly use of Direct Jump can cause draining all the charge of the Connector. We can’t even come back. a full charged Connector allows us to teleport total fifty times to Point Dimension including going and returning. Meaning twenty five times each.
So, the concerns regarding saving charge for the time in need leads us to use Double Jump.
We teleported near the base. For security reason we can’t teleport inside the base. We have to check in through the main entrance.
That’s unusual. There’re more guard than what it should be. They also seem to be in high alert; fully armed and ready to deploy anytime.
"Hello soldier, is anything that matters. You appears to be in high alert." I was bringing out my ID to show the soldier who was coming towards me.
"Listen up, little kids. You shouldn’t be here right now. Go back where you came from." His voice was rather rude.
"But, we’re here to check in." I said.
"You brat. It’s no time for any pranks or wondering around. Get the hell out of here or we’ll have to call your papa."
They didn’t even look my ID. What’s with the tone of his anyway. We’re not here for any pranks.
"You listen Soldier." Pulling collar of an on duty Navy officer she said, "I will not stand the way you behaved towards my Commander. Apologize and take back what you said.
Oh crap! What are you Emira, an absolute airhead? Your behaviour is even more hostile. Thanks to that, other soldiers are now aiming at us. The situation can’t get worse.
Or so I thought just when a soldier accidentally fired. Luckily it barely touched my leg and passed through.
"I had it enough. Have it in your own way." She said.
I can’t even explain how furious she became after that. She activated her Ryoku Arc. Three thunder arrows at the same time pointing at the soldiers.
The soldiers were not afraid at all; two of them were confused a the least.
"Drop your weapons right now. Kneel on your knees." A soldier said.
"Apologize or burn to ashes. Choose wisely."
Hearing her words I reached my damn limits. I hit her head with my hand. And grabbing it forcefully, bowed and said,
"Forgive the misunderstanding. My subordinate is a little impatient." Lowering my voice I told her, "Look Emira, thanks that you stood for my pride once again. But just so you know, not everyone’s like Xei Xan."
"But commander their behaviour was awful. How can I neglect that?"
"Look, I get what you’re saying. But you’re the heir of the Yosika Family. You can’t just aim arrows to anyone. You’ll only hurt the pride of Yosika. Top of that they are our allies not enemies."
"Hay you two. Drop the weapon and kneel."
They’re still at it. Just look the Id I gave you. Everything will be clear.
They were about to say more but a person showed up with some more soldier. This time I recognise the face of the person behind him.
"Lieutenant, what’s with the firing sound and the commotion."
" Vice Admiral, everything’s under control. You need not worry about anything."
General Okima looked at us. Maybe he understood what’s really happening.
"Lieutenant, don’t tell me that your men have tried to shot them." He said as he slowly approached me, "I’m deeply sorry for the trouble."
Hearing General’s words, the lieutenant seemed confused. He was stunned. Tried to ask questions but lost voice.
"Ugh... Lieutenant, check the Id you’re holding all the time. You’ll understand who these people are."
He took his sweet time to realise who I am. Well, good thing that he himself came o me and said,
"Please forgive us for our rudeness, Commander Tonikawa. I was careless to check the ID. I promise that will not happen again."
Other soldiers were still in the dark. But they were getting a bit by bit as they discussed among themselves.
"Commander? Tonikawa? As of Tonikawa Ryusaki? The commander of Japan Branch GDFC?"
"No it can’t be him. He’s so young . like a high school kid. How can he be him."
I got what they were talking about. How a young high school kid like me is the commander of a Highest Defensive organisation in Japan. Well I don’t blame them. After all I’m just a high school student.
"Listen everyone." The Vice Admiral spoke loudly, "This man is the commander of Japan Branch GDFC. And the young woman is his Left Wing, Kyoka Emira. She’s also the heir of Yosika Family. So, you better show some respect."
"Sir, yes sir." Everyone said at once.
"Now then Commander, why don’t we go inside and discuss why were you summoned here."
We followed them.
You may wonder why the military knows about GDFC stuffs and about the Seven Ancient Families. Well, speaking the truth, except for some high ranking officers of Navy or Army and all the members of Surveillance Unit nobody knows about the Dansak invasions.
In other soldiers’ eyes the GDFC is a organisation responsible for maintaining the world peace. That’s the reason all the members belong to Ancient Bloodlines. And the commanders have the highest authority to represent their individual countries. They also think that we’re engaged in international military affaires.
That being said, this is a confidential inform only to share with military. They have to gave oath that they won’t disclose these matters under any circumstances; even if they were to resign or retire.
As we followed them. We reached a room, prepared for strategy meeting or so. There was a big screen where the world map, according to the all the united nations. There were no other employs than who are connected to Surveillance Unit. And with total seven high ranking officers including us the meeting started.
They introduced themselves one after another; First of all, Admiral Roman following him, Vice Admiral Himura of the Navy, General Okima of the Surveillance Unit, then Captain Mitsuya and in the end First Lieutenant Hirata. And of course I and Emira was there too.
Following the directives of General, the First Lieutenant started to explain the situations.
"About twenty minutes ago we received a reading of Dansak in our tracker. When we contact the GDFC, they confirmed that there’s no appearance of any Dansak in Point Dimension. And as our coordinates showed, it’s a remote island called Oka Island."
"I don’t want to interrupt, But are you sure it’s reading of Dansk?" I said, "As we all know, without making a loophole in Point Dimension on their side, they can’t possibly enter our dimension."
"Indeed. We can’t surely say that it’s an overload or not. If that were to happen the EDR machine would have recorded the damages. Did it alarmed? "
"I know what’re you trying to imply, Commander, Left Wing." The captain said, " I agree with that as well. And since the reading only matches by 2.28% it’s not even worth thinking."
"So, where’s that catch? I hope that’d be a valid reason to think again."
"Just when we catch the reading, there appeared to be another reading but it was 0.02 second. After that very short time it vanished. That reading matched about 89% of a Dansak. And it was a Type-1 Annihilator."
Oh my god!!
A Type-1 Annihilator or A1 to be short is considered to have the highest intelligence. Compared to them even Supernovas like S10 to S6 are nothing but ruthless killing machines. It’s easy to handle even a S6 but A1 are the most troublesome. Their tactics and way of thinking surpasses or high competent researchers.
That’s the very reason why it concerned me so much. Come to think of it, I only encountered A1 when I was under my Father’s wing. They hardly came out. And now they are suddenly showing readings without appearing in Point Dimension.
"Captain, what you’re saying is truth then it’s a major problem to report the HQ of GDFC." I said.
"Commander I didn’t follow that." Emira said.
"You do know why A1 possesses greater threat than even S6. Don’t you." I said and she nodded, "Correct, their Intelligence. Even lesser Supernovas are nothing in term of strategies. What if they thought, in order to invade in Georite they actually don’t need to go through Point Dimension."
"Well, that mean they have to teleport themselves directly to here. But that’s impossible. Even we can teleport up to the Point Dimension."
"Left Wing, that’s the very reason why we’re concerned too much. What if they’re working on the same devices that you use to teleport yourselves. After all your Connector is made by relying their process to break into Point Dimension." Admiral said.
"But we can’t be sure either whether they are making similar things or just using another kind of Dansak who send them across the dimension." General pointed.
"General, let’s just assume that they tried and experiment and succeeded by 2.28%. if they will be able to increase that number, they will be able to travel across the dimensions."
"Well, that’s nearly impossible. But on the other hand not unattainable. If it becomes a ray of hope to them, that will be shadow of despair to humankind."
Fear and uncertainty of hope were all over everyone’s faces. Not only the fact of the Dansak but also the Borderline provinces.
Oka Island is originated from South Korea, known as United Korea nowadays. in the past it may have been under Korea’s jurisdiction, but Japan gained control over it. But it was not that much of a big deal as all the countries on earth are now allay to each other. So, what precautions should we take.
"Admiral, is it okay for us to go there and investigate the area by ourselves in case we find some more clue about it."
"Actually it was the very reason why we informed GDFC in the first place. Also we’ve sent our men. But I don’t think they’ve reached."
"That’s because it’s so far. No need to worry. Emira contact Director and ask for coordinates. We’ll head there right now."
She went out of the room to contact. Meanwhile others were still thrilled.
"I can’t even imagine something like this will be happening. At this rate, what Dr Arshal Gunmann said might come true one day."
Dr Arshal Gunmann? Oh, yes. The head researcher in the Summit. He did said something like that if I recall correctly. He said, time will not remain the way it is. Soon a overload bound to happen.
Emira came back. She informed me that Director was unable to give the exact coordinates. The disturbances around the area might be the cause. But he did gave us coordinates. But it was a place in mid air a mile before.
"Then you should go right away." The captain said, "You have the Wings of Selection, the ultimate wing that was bestowed upon you by the God."
"Captain, aren’t you forgetting something." General said, "Indeed Lady Yosika has them. But Commander Tonikawa doesn’t ."
"In that case, when he’ll fall, I’ll catch and carry him. After all I’m his wings."
Wow Emira, that’s something sweet coming from you. But for some reasons, I have a really bad feeling about it. Well, not like we have any other options to follow.
So, without wasting any time we teleported to there.
