Chapter 124: You Have To Save Her

Celine glanced at the closed door of the ward again, the doctors were in there for a while. Why were they taking so long?

Several minutes passed before the door opened, "Mrs Roberts." The doctor called gravely immediately he came out of the ward.

Celine felt her heart sinking in fear and an awful premonition.

Rachel was also there, gazing with eyes full of hope at the doctor who just emerged.

"I’m afraid she’s getting weaker, she just suffered a mild seizure, if we don’t perform the transfusion immediately, it’ll become life threatening for her..."

Celine’s hand had moved before she could regain her senses or even think about anything at all, she landed a slap against the doctor’s face.

All she knew was that she hated the sound of that, the sound of the words that said her daughter’s life was in danger.

"Celine." Natalia held her by the shoulder comfortingly with a pained look in her eyes. She knew Celine was slowly losing her rationality due to the heavy worry for her daughter.

"You’re supposed to save her life, it’s your job to save her life. I don’t care what you have to do but you have to...have to save my daughter!" Perhaps her last thread of composure had snapped, her last thread of holding onto her sanity. She was losing her mind and her emotions burst out of her. She was hurt, helpless, angry and guilty because of everything happening to her daughter.

"Please try to stay calm, Celine." Natalia soothed but Celine’s hands were trembling.

He wasn’t picking up her calls...

The only person who could help her wasn’t picking her calls.

Celine shrugged off Natalia’s hands and desperately tried to call him again. Her eyes closed as the ringing sounds came through.

’Please...please just pick up. She needs you... she’s your child too... she’s yours too!’

A harsh beep suddenly filled her ear, he hadn’t picked the call.

Defeated she slumped to the floor, sobs erupting from her lips violently. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Natalia uttered a quick apology to the doctor who seemed understanding of Celine’s plight, he had dealt with more emotional family members of his patients in the past, something like this wasn’t new at all. The slap had just shocked him for a bit, but he didn’t seem too offended by it.

"Celine, it’s going to be alright, you need to be strong." Natalia whispered.

"How...how can I be strong when my daughter Is in there fighting for her life...I can’t...I can’t lose her."

Celine could feel her emotions getting heavier and heavier each second but she also knew the gravity of the situation, her daughter didn’t have enough time for her to break down.

Despite the agonizing pain Celine grabbed her phone again, trying one more time to call him but it still ended up ringing repeatedly only to end without being picked up.

No, she wouldn’t let it end like this.

If he wouldn’t pick her calls then she would go find him herself.

"Where are you going?" Natalia called after her when she suddenly began to leave in a hurry.

She tried to keep up with Celine, feeling extremely worried about the state she was in but Celine had rushed into the elevator before she could catch up.

Celine ran out of the hospital, the cool wind blew against her face as she ran aimlessly around for a while, she tried to flag down a taxi but none of them were willing to stop.

Her car...a moment of confusion had led her to forget she had driven here by herself, but her keys...

She had left the keys in her bag, without wasting another second, she rushed back into the hospital and grabbed her bag, this time Natalia seemed to understand that she needed to do what was necessary to save her daughter’s life, so she didn’t stop her.

Natalia was making calls herself to acquaintances and anyone who could help, but somehow it seemed all areas of finding a solution had been blocked and no good news ever came through.

Celine started her car, the engine revving to life. She zoomed out of the parking lot, almost crashing into another car in her haste, tears blurred her view as she drove as memories repeatedly surged into her mind... memories of her daughter, cute and innocent from the moment she was born.

She recalled the very first time she held her babies in her arms, and every moment of their growth till now. Her children were everything to her, back then she had lost everything and the whole world had seemed to be against her, but two bundles of joy given to her had become her source of hope, joy and inspiration, the thought of losing them...even one of them made her almost lose her mind.

She drove hurriedly to Grayson Corp, ignored the strange looks she received on the way as she dashed up to the president’s office only to find it empty, the pristine space clean as if no one had been in there for a while. Defeat surged into her in that moment.

"Where is he...why isn’t he here?"

She grabbed a staff casually walking along the hallways to ask urgently. "The president...where is he?"

"He left a few hours ago for an important meeting at Blakewood Groups." The staff replied before walking away when Celine released him.

Blakewood Groups... Celine thought as she began to hurry away again, on the way she seemed to have heard someone calling her name but he wasn’t the person she was looking for, so she hadn’t stopped.

Ryan watched her run off as if fire had been set to her tails, she hadn’t even looked at him.

"What’s wrong with her?" He wondered, beginning to follow her when his assistant stopped him.

"Sir, the president is not in the company right now, so you have to meet with the partners on his behalf. You might want to leave other matters for later because this meeting is extremely important."

Ryan’s face turned sour.

No matter how much he was burning with curiosity and wanted to follow after Celine right now, work had to come first. His grandmother was watching his every move, and a tiny slip up like walking away from an important meeting might cause him to look irresponsible in her eyes, he couldn’t afford that.

"Don’t tell me what to do." He snapped at the assistant harshly before changing his mind from following Celine and heading to the meeting room instead.

’Celine...I wonder what’s got you so riled up.’ Ryan’s curiosity didn’t die down even as he attended the meeting.

He’d never seen her lose her shit like this before. What could be the problem?

*****

Today seemed like it was completely against her.

She drove to Blakewood Groups like a maniac, and the skies decided it was the perfect time to let out a furious downpour, drenching her completely.

She hadn’t even gone past the lobby at the Blakewood Groups when she was told by a receptionist that Mr Grayson just left several minutes ago.

Perhaps the whole world was trying to stop her from saving her daughter’s life, her emotions began to spiral again when she got in her car.

Why...why was this happening to her?

"Celine, you need to come back to the hospital immediately, Leah is having another seizure..."

Having received such a call from Natalia, Celine couldn’t think of anything else as she drove back to the hospital.

Destiny, fate, whatever it was getting in her way today...it seemed to have relented. Her steps halted at the entrance of the hospital when she suddenly sighted someone.

The skies thundered, the rain washed onto her making her tremble but the cold was far from her biggest problem in this moment.

That person was making his way with long strides into the city hospital when his steps paused, as if he had sensed something, he slowly turned towards her direction.

Their eyes locked and the air itself seemed to hold its breath. The person she was about to go crazy searching for was right in front of her.

Even from the distance, Celine caught a sharp concern in his hazel eyes, he seemed to scan her from head to toe as If to see if she was hurt, then she saw relief in his eyes as he seemed to realize she was unharmed. But his brows furrowed as his gaze lingered on her face.

Celine’s emotions were mixed at the moment, she felt helplessness, sorrow, fear of losing her child but when her eyes met his, she suddenly felt even more weakend, as if she could no longer keep holding on.

But more than anything else, there was anger, simmering from beneath her. She couldn’t control herself as she took long strides to get to him, immediately she got to him she swung her hand and landed a slap across his face, the impact barely making a sound against the pounding of the heavy rain.

"Where have you been? I looked everywhere... everywhere but you weren’t there..." She was sobbing now, trying to keep herself together, "I was losing my mind....looking for you!"

Several emotions fleeted past his eyes, a hint of anger, then confusion, then it all melted away into something soft, warmer, concern as he searched her eyes.

She grabbed onto his coat with trembling hands, "Please....you have to save her...she needs you..."
