Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 170: A Lovely Couple
The pair of couples walked down the beach that night heading for their cottages. Celine looked down at the heart shaped number sign in her hands with an uncertain expression when Hailey’s excited voice travelled over to her ears,
"Honey, we’re participating in the lover’s test!" Hailey exclaimed hugging her husband’s arm as they strolled down the beach.
"We are, let’s see if we can get to the end of it." Simon remarked, then he continued to chat with Tristan as both men slowed down letting the women walk slightly ahead of them.
"So what is this lover’s test thing for again?" Celine asked still slightly confused.
Earlier the couples inside the restaurant had been closed in, then they were informed they would be participating in the lover’s test, which was said to be a monthly game the Rowena islands organized for couples, it was said to be a test of how strong a couple’s relationship was, at the end of which the winners would emerge as the best couple of the month and Rowena would then bless their marriage.
"It’s the most fun thing any couple could participate in, and the participants are usually just picked coincidentally, just like how we happened to be at the restaurant and ended up being picked as participants." Hailey gushed apparently excited about it.
"So does it mean it doesn’t always happen like it did at the restaurant?" Celine asked again.
"Nope, I was totally surprised it happened at the restaurant this time, let me see your number tag?" Hailey leaned in for a look at the red heart shaped tag Celine was holding while comparing it with her own, "Hey, our numbers are quite close, but I don’t know the rules of the game because it changes everytime."
Celine nodded in understanding then sighed in her heart, well, the Rowena islands was indeed a unique place to be, everything happening here was strange, but she had no problems in participating in the game.
Celine’s steps slowed down as she glanced back at Tristan who was still a few steps behind along with Simon who was still conversing with Tristan.
Her gaze lingered over his handsome face, his tall frame shadowing against the backdrop of the moonlight, she didn’t even realize when a small smile tugged her lips.
Her mind drifted back to the very first moment she set her eyes on him, he was shrouded by a shadow standing at the side inside the wedding hall that time as well, but in those shadows, she had caught his cold pair of hazel eyes, and those eyes had been the very thing that pulled her out of the charade of a marriage with Ian.
Celine wondered, if she had never seen him that day, would she have decided to leave the wedding? Then she’d coincidentally stumbled into his hotel suite, and under the slight influence of the alcohol she’d had, she had ended up spending the most memorable night of her life with him, that night that birthed her two lovely treasures, Celine had no regrets, she had no regrets of setting her eyes on Tristan, she had no regrets of stumbling into his suite, and she had absolutely no regrets of spending that night with him. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
And now she was glad to say that... She had fallen in love with this man, perhaps it was just chance or coincidence that they met, or perhaps it could be destiny, it could be destiny that she had seen him, it could be destiny that she had, in her attempt to run away and be alone found him instead, it could be destiny that they shared that night together and had such wonderful pair of twins together, either way, she knew this man was someone she wouldn’t want to give up.
"You feel it too right?" Hailey suddenly nudged her bringing Celine out of her daze as she quickly broke her gaze away from Tristan.
"Feel what?" She asked realizing Hailey’s question.
"That crazy feeling that sends your heart beating as if it will burst out of your chest," Hailey said her voice filled with emotion her gaze fixed on her husband as both women stood by the sea, watching the two men talking in the distance, Hailey added after a few moments of pause, "The feeling of... Love."
Celine fell silent, neither denying nor acknowledging Hailey’s words.
"You know people might think I had everything, but when I met him, he made me realize I had nothing at all, because I might have a lot of things that people desire, wealth, fame, and recognition, but i lacked the most important thing of all, I lacked love, but when he came into my life, I found the greatest thing I could give up everything for."
Celine gazed up at Hailey who now had hints of tears in her eyes, but Hailey quickly shook her head and said, "I’m sure you must have that as well, you and Tristan?"
"For me he’s the only man who’s ever made me feel like this, the feeling is overwhelming, and I know that, I wish to be with him, to be by his side as much as I can, if he carries pain, I know that I want to carry it with him, but I just hope... I just hope these emotions aren’t one sided." Celine muttered her eyes dazedly gazing towards Tristan. Maybe it was because her emotions were getting the best of her, but right now, she hadn’t even fully realized what she’d said out loud or the kind of worried look Hailey was giving her until Hailey placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Celine is something wrong? One sided? What do you mean by that?"
Hearing the concerned tone in Hailey’s voice Celine was brought back to her senses and quickly curbed her emotions, "Nothing, I was just carried away." Celine made up an excuse.
The men finally decided to join them again at this moment, Simon embraced his wife lovingly, while Tristan aloofly stood beside Celine.
"We’ll be going back to our cottage now." Celine said to the couple as Tristan came to stand beside her.
"Alright, have a goodnight Celine, I’ll see you tomorrow." Hailey said giving Celine a tight hug while she muttered, "I’m so glad to meet you again."
"Same here."
Celine was glad they met again, though they hadn’t been very close in the past, she was at least glad she bumped into a familiar face from her past that she had been trying to run away from, meeting Hailey again made her realize that her past in the entertainment industry wasn’t something she should be running away from.
Celine waved once more, "Goodnight."
"Goodnight Mr Grayson."
Tristan nodded, "Goodnight." He uttered aloofly then turned around to leave and Celine followed behind, after they had walked a few steps, Celine was suddenly astonished as Tristan held her hand then laced their fingers together.
She gazed sideways at him for a bit before her fingers curled against his own holding him back as they strolled along the beach towards their cottage. Celine knew it was so the couple behind them doesn’t find them weird which was why he held her hand, but she couldn’t help the smile that appeared on her face.
"They make a lovely couple don’t you think?" Simon who was still holding his wife while they gazed at the retreating backs of Tristan and Celine suddenly uttered while watching them.
"Yes they do." Hailey agreed with a smile.
